It won't unless your Mac has an ambient light sensor or the Dell has one that communicates with the Mac. See https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-your-displays-brightness-mchlp2704/mac for more about that.

Thanks. Yes. I am using the Mac App Store version. I logged in with the Guest account on my computer with macOS Monterey 12.0.1 (21A559). Affinity Photo opens in just 10 seconds. Then I created a new user and tried again. The problem is fixed. It boots up in 10 seconds. I guess that's a normal time, right?

@coral, my apologies for the delayed response here.
I can confirm, as explained in the above FAQ post - this is a known issue on macOS Catalina & higher.
Our latest beta version attempts to resolve this (and other known issues in Monterey) however our developers have confirmed this will require an update on Apples side to be completely 'fixed'.
Should you wish to try the latest beta, please find this linked below. This can be installed alongside the retail version, so you have 2 versions of AP installed at once -
    I hope this helps

    Hi @coral,
Please go to Affinity Photo Preferences, Performance section and untick Enable Metal compute acceleration. This should fix the issue.
Can you attach the original afphoto file to add to the report please? (just saw the file was already there thanks!) This is most likely an hardware acceleration issue. Thank you.

Do you have hardware acceleration enabled?

Why pay for it when you have a great FREE one? I use this extensively with APUB:

coral reacted to walt.farrell in Preference Panel :: Replace text while typing
Whenever you open Preferences, Autocorrect, the language displayed will be the User Interface language. But that has no effect on the documents you create.
Publisher allows you to specify autocorrection settings for any language you have installed for spell-checking, and it supports documents that are written in several languages.
You could have a document written in Turkish and English and French, for example. Each word or phrase or paragraph could be in a different language, as determined the Language specification in the Character panel or in the Character or Paragraph Text Style in use.
All that the autocorrection settings say is, if you're entering text in English, make a certain set of corrections. If you're entering text in Turkish, make a different set of corrections. If you're entering text in French, make another set of corrections. Etc. But the Autocorrect preference does not specify the language you're entering. That's all controlled through the Character panel or the Text Styles.

I generally use the dictionaries for LibreOffice, from their GitHub site: https://github.com/LibreOffice/dictionaries/tree/master/
