It was suggested that we go to the Apple Systems Preferences>Displays> and uncheck “Automatically Adjust Brightness.”

I'm using a 2013 Mac Pro and a Dell U2715H monitor. This setting is not showing for me. Also, the Hardware Acceleration setting doesn't work either. Unfortunately I'll be going back to Photoshop. Because I'm tired of drinking coffee while I wait.

Many thanks for letting me know - can I correctly assume you're using the Mac App Store version of the Affinity app?

If so, we're aware that the beta itself may not show any major signs currently of being improved, due to 'Sandboxing' on your mac for apps launched from the Mac App Store.

Essentially, the changes we've made may not take effect on certain systems until it has been released as an update through the Mac App Store, so the behaviour described above is not overly unexpected.

Of course this means we can't guarantee the changes we've made will definitely resolve the issue until the update is available through the Mac App Store, but our developers are hopeful that the changes made should be clearer once this update is live :)

However I'll be sure to pass this information, along with your system specs through to our developers so that we can keep track of this ongoing issue!

Thanks. Yes. I am using the Mac App Store version. I logged in with the Guest account on my computer with macOS Monterey 12.0.1 (21A559). Affinity Photo opens in just 10 seconds. Then I created a new user and tried again. The problem is fixed. It boots up in 10 seconds. I guess that's a normal time, right?

    Hi @coral,
Please go to Affinity Photo Preferences, Performance section and untick Enable Metal compute acceleration. This should fix the issue.
Can you attach the original afphoto file to add to the report please? This is most likely an hardware acceleration issue. Thank you.

Note: i can provide an upload link if you wish to keep the file private - just let me know.

    Hi,
Thank you very much for your help.

Don't think Affinity suite was written in Python, RTL and Indic languages will not be supported. So it is best not to post about this topic as you would be whistling into the wind... Stick to your software.

I finally found the solution I was looking for. Maybe Affinity will buy it and give it as a gift :) It's a small program, but it does a great job: RTL Fixer

Whenever you open Preferences, Autocorrect, the language displayed will be the User Interface language. But that has no effect on the documents you create.

Publisher allows you to specify autocorrection settings for any language you have installed for spell-checking, and it supports documents that are written in several languages.

You could have a document written in Turkish and English and French, for example. Each word or phrase or paragraph could be in a different language, as determined the Language specification in the Character panel or in the Character or Paragraph Text Style in use.

All that the autocorrection settings say is, if you're entering text in English, make a certain set of corrections. If you're entering text in Turkish, make a different set of corrections. If you're entering text in French, make another set of corrections. Etc. But the Autocorrect preference does not specify the language you're entering. That's all controlled through the Character panel or the Text Styles.

Thank you very much for your information.

According tot the help function I have placed the following files in the directory ProgramData>Affinity>common> 1.0>dictionaries:

    hyph_nl_NL  ( 3.117 Kb)
    nl.NL.aff  (344 Kb)
    nl_NL   (63 Kb)

Nothing happened.  No language control. Does anybody here know what went wrong?

    Hi Antoine,
Where can I find a dictionary of NL and other language files? I use macOS catalina.
