    small suggestion:
as with the pen tool, where: ⌘+hold gives access to the node tool - it would be great to replicate this behaviour for the node tool (e.g. via the same ⌘+hold) to access the move tool (when no nodes have been selected). more rapid and temporary move tool selection would allow for quicker adjustments in moving entire objects & groups without switching tools first. thank you

I guess this was asked before, so forgive me for being too lazy to search.
Currently I am working on a manual split into several files, because of the complexity of the vector images inside. In total there would be about 200 pages. Using the section function I can determine the start of the page numbering. Unfortunately the "real" page numbers are still starting from 1. So let's say my document is starting from page 67, and there is some text pointing to page 80. So moving to that page 80 I have to go to the "real" page 14 of the document. Let's say I want to print the document pages 71 to 78, so I have to use "real" pages 5 to 12 in the printer dialogue.
What I mean is, that it would be nice if the "real" page numbers would be equal to the "document" page numbers for easier navigating and printing (like in ID).

It would be useful for work on large documents if the page thumbnails could be (optionally?) labelled with Section Name and Section Page No. rather than the global page number.
Section numbers (e.g. Section3, Page 5) would be acceptable if the section names were too long to fit.

There might be patents that would interfere, but not copyrights. Still, they might interfere.
The main problem in this area is that the PSD format is not really documented. It is partly documented, and even that documentation is not necessarily accurate. So anyone wanting to implement compatibility with that file format needs to experiment and figure out how some aspects really work.
With that experimentation there is the risk of getting something slightly incorrect. There is also the risk that as Adobe continues developing their products, they will make changes (also undocumented) that will need to be rediscovered by more experimentation.
So far, I think, Serif has not wanted to do that experimentation, and assume the risks associated with providing that support (risk of getting it wrong, need for continued future experimentation).

    Hi @bajqo,
It's because artboards in Designer are just a special type of object, not independent entities/canvas on their own. So like any other object they can be positioned on non-integer values as well converted between objects/artboards (menu Layer > Convert Object to Artboard and vice versa), used in power duplicate operations to create grids of artboards (for icon design for example) etc. We hope to improve this in future to "force" artboards to export at their specified dimensions, no matter their X,Y coordinates/placement on the workspace.
If you enable Force Pixel Alignment and disable Move by whole pixels, you should be able to drag them a bit by their label (on the top left of the artboard) and they will snap to integer pixel values for you without having to mess with the input fields in the Transform panel.

I think you have a different problem. This topic is about special processing that occurs for 192 dpi documents (also 144 dpi).
Your Artboards probably are not properly aligned on the pixel grid, or are not exactly 1080 px in size. If you select one of them in the Layers panel, and activate the Move Tool, and look in the Transform panel, you will probably see that either height, width, X, or Y, have decimal places. (Note that you may need to check your Designer Preferences, User Interface section, and change the number of decimal places for px units to 3 or more.)
If any of those 4 fields have decimal places, then you will get an added pixel or two.

Setting the number of places higher is not a solution. If the actual value is 33.0000000678 then the display will show 33 and it will appear that everything is fine. We need to toggle the values up and down, I use the arrow keys for this.

Check that your artboards are on pixel boundaries (whole pixel values for X, Y, W and H).
If they are not then that would give you a size difference as Designer would need to ‘create’ extra pixels to take the extra 'sub-pixels' into account.

yeah i don't think that helps with the workflow - export persona is such a hassle to use. I ended up using Adobe XD for creating all my Banner Ads and just use AD for vector stuff > copy/paste > back to XD. More so, selecting ALL similar sized artboards in AD and resizing them at the same time - for example i have 2 1080x1080 per artboard - resize to say like 2000x2000 > AD resizes both artboards to 964.3x964.3px instead of having both of them resized to 2000x2000 each. Adobe XD handles this perfectly fine. you can resize 100 1080x1080 artboards to 2000x2000 each and it does the job well. you get perfect 2000x2000 each artboard. Select ALL artboards and export all of it at the same time - you still get 2000x2000 each. Don't get me wrong, I love AD for its vector/design capabilities plus the pixel persona is great. But it still lacks a ton and is still behind after several years that it's been out.

I started creating several artboards, ready to be exported with the desired width, height and name. In the Export Persona however all the artboards got different slice witdh and or height. Usually one pixel more than the artboard.
What am I doing wrong? (Here is a question I asked on Stackexchange https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/134591/how-to-make-the-export-slices-equally-large-as-the-artboard-size-in-affinity-des

xman reacted to walt.farrell in Publisher: search for used fonts in document? [solved]
Publisher supports Find and Replace via the Text menu or the studio panel.
And the Find/Replace can search for fonts and replace them with other fonts. Both the Find and the Replace fields have a cog icon, and one of the options is "Format", which allows you to specify a font.

If this was on matrix with discord, telegram, irc bridges I could get behind this idea.
But I'm not on discord and have no desire to join a closed platform. I'm personally tired of another "current best" communication platform, which may become less popular over time like .... um slack.
But I'm sure many will find these type of places useful and think it's a good thing if people can find help fast.
But I just remembered how facebook destroy a vibrate community I enjoyed once, by split up communication over multi-channels. You could see the slow death in real time. And all the young people are on tiktok anyway, so perhaps a affinity tiktok group ....

xman got a reaction from Alfred in Work around for Editable Text in PSD's
So recently I was working on a project that require saving some files as workable psds, one of the reasons I starting use affinity product was because of the ability to open ai and psds. I was just coming off a long term test of using only open source apps like, Inkscape, Scribus, Gimp, Krita and more ... I was actually very successful with completing several large and small projects. The problem was updates and too many tiny issues popping up during projects (usually found work around though).
So I figured out a work around to have a editable text layer saved in a .psd for an affinity workflow.
    Spoiler it's https://www.photopea.com/ !
Photopea lets you actually open natively affinity files (so cool) then save then as psds. (https://blog.photopea.com/photopea-5-1-open-affinity-files-and-make-artboards.html)
A few things I notice when playing around. which could make this slightly less useful for some.
Some things must be removed or you will get an error message.
    1. Symbols: Can't keep, I would detach (in the symbols palette) them or remove them.
    2. Adjustment layers: like contrast or levels won't be carried over and must be applied or deleted. Basically anything Affinity specific will likely cause issues.
    3. Mask layers: Easiest is way is to flatten (rasterize & Trim).

    - You can also move it out of the sub-layer/folder of layer it's attached to.
    - Then in photopea you select the rasterized mask layer (BW) >
    - do a Color Range selection (from the select menu-bar), pick highlight or shadow based on your needed selection >
    - Now Hide the currently selected bw Mask Layer >
    - Select the layer you want to apply the mask to >
    - Under the Layer Menu Bar, goto Raster Mask, choose Reveal Selection. Now it should be properly masked
    4. Now you ready to save, goto the File menubar, select Save as PSD.
    5. Your done open in photoshop or some place else and it should work.

With this method it's the closest I can get currently to a workable text layer psd. Not perfect of course. Hope it help some of you in a bind.
    Cheers

xman reacted to Old Bruce in Request for advice before switching to Adobe CS6 => Affinity
I took a look at the website and want to know if all the artwork and the dates or holidays are supplied by the client?
I could use Publisher and Photo and Designer to produce these sorts of calendars. But if I have several clients who are used to sending me specific Adobe file types, I would hesitate to change not only my own workflow* but my clients' workflows as well. If my clients want to see InDesign/Illustrator/PhotoShop files for approval and or proofreading then I would say "Stay with Adobe".
If however my clients are sending me CSV or Excel files for the Data. And for the graphics they are sending me TIFFs, JPEGs, PNGs and PDFs and are happy with a PDF to approve then I would seriously think about changing over to Affinity.
The suite of three Affinity products can open and work with TIFFs, JPEGs, PNGs. Working with Adobe products' files is limited. Here are some of the problems: Text From Photoshop files can be read but not saved as Text back into an Exported PSD file. The Affinity products can open Illustrator files only if they have been saved with a readable PDF stream. The only InDesign file format that can be read by Affinity is the the IDML file, not the INDD file format.
Add to this the fact that with the exception of limited PSD export we can only export files as SVG or PDF for the use in Illustrator and InDesign.
Finally be prepared for several changes to how you work. Each application is going to require some changes to how you work and when there are three changes then it may be too much to do all at once. I would think about doing new client's work in the Affinity Applications and then once I am happy with the way I can work in Affinity change all clients' work to the Affinity Suite.
    * The importing of CSV data is done in Publisher, not Designer, is one of the changes you would need to do on your end.

I've been learning my way around GIMP and Krita for the last year and have gotten pretty skilled at both. Been looking into more "professional" software but I refuse to pay for a cloud license. Been holding my breath for your Windows Beta and let me tell you it did not disappoint. You folks really have something great here.

The only problem is that I still have to use GIMP for a few things, mostly the Gmic plugin- which I realize would be difficult for you to support for licensing reasons.

Exporting to PDF has proven tricky. Sometimes it works flawlessly, but other times GIMP/Krita will remove all my layers and just merge everything to a single image. OpenEXR might work, but every time I try to export with layers I get an error message.

What would really solve this is if you guys supported an open format, such as the GIMP gcf format or even OpenRaster.

So far, this is the only thing that will keep me from happily paying for the program when the Windows Beta ends. You've made an excellent program here.

...First thing I used to do when I'm designing a new logo for example (and I'm sure I'm not alone here) is to create a big artboard and then draw multiple ideas along it. Now imagine, every time I need to delete a guide, I must zoom out, and drag the guide outside of the artboard!? ...or, find it in guides manager window (In which btw, the desired guide is not even highlighted. We must move it to know which one we need to delete). Why we cannot just use the DELETE key directly in the artboard?!   Another useful thing, is the option to convert a vector to a guide...

+1 for Bleed Preview, bleed export for tiff and other image formats.
I'm currently working on a print project, which is the first larger one in designer. And I have to say that the lack of bleed is making some exports more difficult than is needed.
So please add non-pdf bleed exports to designer.
I've used freehand, illustrator and inkscape which all were able to do this. I understand that AD uses artboards so it not a one to one thing. However perhaps a per art board tick could work. I won't pretend to understand the difficulty to make it work properly. But I do know that this is important even when you come out with the publisher app. Since it would be great to work like I used to in freehand, which had enough publish tool to support small - med projects ... then for bigger one you wold use scribes, quark or indesign.
I'm looking forward to your next update of designer very much and hope it includes lots of the little needed features and bug fix.
    Cheers
