Alfred reacted to Chris Van Cleve in Dream Resources
I just slapped up a web page for all of my free resources for Affinity products. You can find it at:
https://dscape-llc.com/affinity
Of note at the moment, it includes updates to Dream Gradients and Dream Holiday Styles that I haven't posted here. Enjoy!

Alfred reacted to befehr in Trim tool request
I'd like to see a trim tool (select line(s), will delete line(s)_ up to another line). CorelDRAW has one that works really well.
Here is a video showing the feature.
thanks and great job so far.

Bought AF for windows a couple of weeks ago. Really impressed.

Alfred reacted to pixelrain in AFFINITY Photo PC very slow
You can manually copy "UserInterfacePreferences.xml" or save its data from Affinity's "Settings" folder from your user's "AppData/Roaming" folder in windows.

Alfred got a reaction from BiffBrown in Free Macros with AP 1.5?
Sample images attached! I used the same image (from Pixabay) with the default settings in each case, except for a couple of the distortion effects where one of the slider values was an enormously long number instead of being not greater than 1.

Alfred got a reaction from R C-R in Changing Black Silhouette in Image to Another Color
Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, Chris. :)
I don't know of a three-step adjustment, but a simple one-step adjustment is available via the 'New Adjustment > Recolour' option on the Layer menu.
Edit: That doesn't work for something like this. I think you need to place a rectangle with a purple (or whatever colour) fill on top of the tree image, and set its blend mode to 'Screen'.

Alfred got a reaction from cchris in How to split shapes in Designer that were imported from EPS
You're very welcome! Thanks for the feedback. :)
With the Node Tool active, select a node at either end of the line that you want to split off, and then click on the 'Break Curve' icon on the Context toolbar. Now select the node at the other end and 'Break Curve' again. To delete the newly isolated line, simply select it with the Move Tool and press the 'Delete' key on your keyboard.

Select the object with the Move Tool and click on the 'Divide' icon on the Geometry toolbar.

Alfred got a reaction from pioneer in DrawPlus Clipart into Affinity Designer
When I experienced the same problem with another video it immediately became obvious that it was a display glitch at my end. I watched the first part of your video again just now, and it was rock steady. Apologies for the false alarm!

Alfred got a reaction from achoukah in [ADe] Perspective Tool
Searching that topic for 'perspective' only turns up discussions about the 'power duplicate' feature and vanishing points, not about the introduction of an actual Perspective Tool.
By the way, could someone please tweak the CSS for these forums? In the search box at the top of each page, the light grey text on a slightly lighter grey background is almost impossible to read.

Alfred reacted to R C-R in My Style Cogs have turned into CATS!
Maybe Patrick is right. Since I usually leave AD running in the background, I was a bit disappointed when I did not see the cats in the styles panel this morning. Had I not found out about this, I would not have restarted the app & missed it.
Regardless, this is just more evidence of something I have suspected for a while now: the Affinity staff are not cat lovers, they are in fact mutant cats masquerading as humans!

Alfred got a reaction from R C-R in My Style Cogs have turned into CATS!
It's only just Friday the 13th on this side of the pond! You'd have thought Callum might have waited at least until early morning here in the UK, when it will already be Friday in most of the Americas but also still Friday in Australasia.

Alfred reacted to garetmckinley in Mandala Designs with Affinity Designer Beta
Hey guys, I just wrapped up another mandala <3

Once again, I want to thank the developers at serif for creating such a brilliant vector application! It's lightyears more intuitive than illustrator, and seemingly keeps improving (at a rather fast rate!). I would be nothing without the tools you've empowered me with

Edit: I see that Brian ('bleduc') beat me to it! BTW, I agree with him that the thread title could be improved.

You too, huh? I guess he found the selling point.

Alfred got a reaction from Zk433 in Adding new languages to AD
We're still waiting for an 'Insert Symbol/Glyph' option. Meanwhile, you can use TypeIt (as I suggested in an earlier post) or CopyPasteCharacter.com. If you have a numeric keypad you can use Alt+nnnn sequences, but that involves remembering the numbers you need (e.g. Alt+0169 for a copyright symbol). You can look up these things online, of course, but if you need to do that then you might as well copy and paste the actual characters!
I'm not sure about 'Copy As SVG', but my snapping settings seem to be remembered from one session to the next. As for spell checking, if you set the language to 'None' then you won't get any of those annoying squiggly red lines.

Why not? Hot Cross Buns are on sale in Sainsbury's already

I think you also could search for "vector calendar templates" on the net. Once you have one you downloaded you can change it the way you want.

Alfred reacted to Franklin in From Mansfield, England to Mansfield, Ohio
A couple years ago I was in Mansfield, Ohio for Miss Ohio Week (part of Miss America Scholarship Program) and learned that there is an exchange program of sorts with Mansfield, England. Miss Mansfield and Sherwood Forest of England - Jessica Boot, participated in activities including singing and playing guitar on stage. Mansfield, Ohio is where Miss Ohio Scholarship Program finals have been held for a number of years.
I shot this with a Panasonic FZ35, 800ISO, 1/30th sec. I was informed that Affinity is located not far from Mansfield, England so will share a photo of Jessica, processed in Affinity Photo. I'm still learning what all can be done with this software, picking up a tip or two by browsing the forums here.
The Panasonic does not have the resolution and low-light prowess of mid- to high level dslrs but is not bad for what it is. On this occasion was not sure photography would be allowed at all, as some years only certified press/contract photographers are permitted to shoot, and the Panasonic was what I had with me. Photo taken from about half way back in the theater. File cropped slightly and downsized for sharing.

Alfred reacted to gcshep in DrawPlus Clipart into Affinity Designer
After members kindly pointing me in the right direction I thought I would do a Tutorial.
I have done a tutorial for those people who might have had a version of Drawplus and have now upgraded to Affinity Designer this shows how to export your clipart with all the layers in to AD with all the same layers and then taken into CTA3 and did a short animation with it. I think you will agree the amount of vector clipart in DrawPlus should keep you supplied for some time to come and the biggest plus it’s FREE.
Best Regards
George
