Menus don’t have buttons, they only have entries or options.
Can’t you simply post a screenshot? Why are you so reluctant to show us what you’re trying to work with??

In addition to these excellent points, I would also point out that if anyone is working in an area with poor or no internet connectivity, there is no reason to rob them of access to online help simply to add rich video content that is probably not as important as having a quick reference to some less familiar feature they are trying to use.
Some users may also work in an environment where they need to be disconnected from the internet for security reasons and losing access to online help would similarly mean losing access to any kind of help.
I agree that a change to online-only help is a TERRIBLE idea.  PLEASE reconsider.

While i fully understand the (probably) good intentions, i have seen to many apps from other vendors going to total disarray because older versions lost attention and help get totally out of sync. It really helps nobody if online help works reliably only for the bleeding edge release of the app, and provides misleading or completely wrong results for slightly non-current releases.
The help documentation is an dedicate deliverable accompanying the app releases. It s no „optional“ or „if we find time“ low priority thing. As Affinity updates UI and features in every minor update, we need a perfect fitting documentation for every minor release. The offline help can include links to additional online-only resources like videos. This is never a reason to go fully only only.

If I understand you correctly, to adjust what portion shows up, you can use Gradient Handles to move the Fill (Texture) around. Is this what you're wanting to do, or am I missing something?

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @cinew.
You can use the Rectangle Tool to create a flexible cropping window. Draw a filled rectangle anywhere on top of the photo, make it semi-transparent so that you can see the part of the photo that lies underneath, and then alter its size and position (zooming in or out as necessary) until it covers the target area of the photo. After changing the fill to fully opaque, drag the rectangle layer in the Layers panel and drop it onto the thumbnail of the photo layer to execute the crop.

It will be a Curve object rather than a Curves object, because it will consist of a single closed path.
Neither do I, for what it’s worth.

My interpretation is that “high-end” professionals are those who are deeply involved, often at the production level, in the creation of materials that have very strict quality standards, that are usually with a commensurate high budget and equipment/software with the capabilities necessary—often corporate (for profit or large NGO), government, etc.  “Mid-range” would be lower-level folks in those departments, would be doing similar work for entities that do not have the resources to meet those standards, though they are generally striving (as all of us are) for the best results possible given the resources available.  I was never more than “mid-range”, doing layout for newspapers and directories, and a movie-fan magazine, and now for small, low-budget grassroots groups, and never a designer—I always worked with art and graphics generated by others, or with clip art or stock photos.  I need more resources than Canva, for sure, but don’t miss much from Adobe InDesign back in CS4 (IDK what new features have been added since).  I really appreciate being able to use Designer and Photo—it was never worth it for me to get Illustrator or Photoshop, and Gimp was difficult—and I have upgraded my skills since I have had that option.  It is less about education/credentials than the quality level of work that they are producing.

oki, will do so, as I too hate it when I can't finish reading something... (maybe I'll remove it again tomorrow or so, then)
Yep, I often make a local copy of what I wrote before I delete it, mostly if there's some conclusion I want to keep for myself or sth.

Please check what you have set in Full Keyboard Access inside System Preferences or you don't have Space set as a shortcut in the app.

Attached is a Tutorial on Editing Skin Tones in Affinity Photo. The original document was created in Affinity Publisher and exported to PDF.
The emphasis is on getting accurate, natural looking skin tones, assisted by the numbers...Vectorscope, HSL and CMYK samplers in the Info Panel... to help the user stay on track and defeat "eye adaptation". Our eyes acclimate to our monitor, and the longer we stare at our monitors, the "better" our colors appear (even if they are way off).
I hope you find the tutorial clear and helpful.

Surely you must understand that there can be no reliable way to get numbers for anything like that. Most pros do not, nor would they have any reason to, explain what apps they use for any particular project.

You can find many examples in the ‘Share your work’ section of these forums, and also by searching on sites such as Behance and Dribbble.

    To use Photos Batch Job processor to do the converting;
Go to File > New Batch Job.
In the window that opens, on the Left Hand side add all the TIFF files you want to convert.
In the top section of the Right Hand side under ‘Output’ you can either Save to the same location as the originals or choose another location by selecting; Save into… and choosing a location by clicking the ellipsis icon to the right.
Next, deselect the default option of ‘Save as AFPhoto’ and select the “Save as” file option of your choice from those offered. Click on the ellipsis icon at the far right of your chosen file type to open a popup where you can set any other user definable output options like for example; the amount of file compression to be used, etc…
If you do not want to change the resulting files dimensions then leave the W & H fields empty.
If you want to run a Macro that you have in AP’s Macro library select and Apply it now.
If you don’t want to run any Macros then just ignore that section.
Now click the OK button bottom right corner of the window to start the process.

Looking at the data in your screenshot, I think the problem is happening at your step #1.  Your batch process is not converting the output files.  It's outputting copies of your tiff files but renaming them to look like JPEGs.  It's your initial batch conversion process that needs investigating.
Affinity Photo is correctly recognising the raw TIFF data, without alerting you to the underlying error (except where "Occasionally I will try to save a .JPEG file but AP flags up 'This file type is unrecognised'.")

Affinity will use the naming they like. What I mean is a separate persona for this type of floor-planning, floor-sketching work, which seems like it'd deserve its own workspace with specific tools. Maybe even with slightly changed behaviors - as an example: currently, with a measurement displayed on screen, when you space-zoom around it, it temporarily disappears (a bit annoying), it also does not snap guides to the arrow edges. An option to retain multiple measurements until dismissed would also be cool.
I bet there is tons of enhancements possible. Probably not the right time to go into detail.

Do you perhaps mean a Drafting persona? The word ‘Planner’ conjures up images of something to do with calendars and timetables.
