not helpful. Dont' even get me started on Macs. You wont' win.
If you read all the issues about this you would realize its software and nothing to do with hardware.

Alfred reacted to smadell in AI picture generators urgently required
For the most part, I’ve resisted putting my 2 cents into this argument, but I think my view on this might be shared by others.
    1) I would love it if Affinity Photo would simplify my editing with commands like Select Sky, Select Subject, and so forth. Call it AI; call it machine learning – that’s just semantics. It takes the drudgery out of my editing by automating (and speeding) the process. I’m all for that.
    2) Automated selection of photo elements (like those involved in automatic sky substitution) almost always get things close, but not close enough. They always seem to need fiddling with after the fact. And that takes the amazement out of it really quickly. I bought a copy of Luminar AI because of these types of features, and fell out of love with it within days (or was it hours?)
    3) I have no particular beef with AI-generated art, even though I have no real interest in pursuing it. For me telling a piece of software “show me a purple cat hanging off the Eiffel Tower” or anything similar is just silly beyond words. I’m willing to call this kind of thing art, but there comes a point where it’s no longer reasonable to call it photography.
    4) Given the size-related issues associated with being a relatively small company (specifically, Serif when compared to Adobe) it seems much more reasonable to introduce any truly AI-related features by means of scripting and the associated software hooks that might allow users to create panels and so forth. Add-ins like this would presumably not rob Serif of precious resources, but would make features accessible to those who want them.
    5) I would be among those who are happiest if Affinity Photo remained a “photo editing software” application, and avoided becoming an “AI art generator.” Whether this is an “old school” attitude or not, I suspect it is an opinion held by many (though obviously not by all).

Alfred reacted to Dan C in Add "Build" version to splash screen / about screen
As I understand it, having this information readily accessible on the splash screen lead to customer confusion in our wider userbase and therefore was simplified in the opening splash screen and 'About' dialog.
I appreciate that power users here on our Fourms may want this information to be presented when opening the app, but unfortunately this is not always best for all users, hence the change.
Therefore I believe we decided to include the in-depth information within the Account dialog instead, alongside the OS version and user ID, as our support team can then receive all this information within a singular screenshot, greatly reducing confusion for this wider userbase.

Alfred reacted to NotMyFault in Text tutorial: color separation & total ink preview in Publisher, Designer, Photo
    Hi,
A source for repeated questions or feature requests is color separation. This tutorial explain the steps to separate a CMYK color format document into the individual C M Y K channels, and get a preview of total ink (areas exceeding a given threshold)
    Color channel separation for export
Open the file, and copy the color channel mixer adjustments into your file on top level. activate only 1 of the 4 layers at a time export as greyscale document (repeat 4 times) Attached you find the CMYK separation V2 file showing how to get all views within one file with help of artboards and symbols to copy the master artboard content into the CMYK and total ink separated artboards for preview purpose.

    Total Ink Preview
assumes a total ink between 200 and 400% is used as limit.
remove or deactivate color separation layers add a levels adjustment. Set output white level to 25% on „master“ channel add channel mixer adjustment set all CMY channels to 0 on all contributing channels set K to 100% on all 4 contributing channels CMYK add a curves adjustment set the curve as shown. The positions shows the transition area from white (below total ink) over grey (warn area) to black (exceeds total in limit). Max Y equals 400%, scale is linear (50% Y equals 200% total inc etc).

Alfred reacted to Markus Allen in Problem with adding a node point - can you help me?
    I figured out the problem.
It's the new hover effect for the Apple Pencil.
I turned this off (which is annoying anyway) and boom - I can add a node point to an existing curve.

Alfred got a reaction from walt.farrell in Publisher: Text > Toggle Unicode equivalent on iPad?
I can’t see anything about hex codes on the linked Help page.* It does tell you that the Glyph Browser panel allows you to “view [sic] insert glyphs, Unicode characters or Unicode characters with alternates” but that’s all. (Shouldn’t it say “Unicode character codes” rather than just “Unicode characters”?)
No such problem here. Copying and pasting from an Affinity Help page (viewed in Safari) works as it always has done.
    * That probably explains my initial observation!
For what little it’s worth, I’ve always had to use the “Paste as plain text” option.

In Publisher you can use Layer > Convert to Picture Frame and apply the stroke to the Picture Frame
In Designer and Photo you have to use other workarounds

Not sure why it has never worked directly

    Hi HanMade,
I'd say it's likely, I would experiment with different settings in your Edit>preferences>performance tab to extract the best performance from your device, particularly view quality and retina rendering.

Hey, I've seen many users complaining that can't find the new Tool in the new version of Affinity Designer 2.1

It is not very clear that this tool is available inside the Dock panel.

I made a tutorial to help these users to solve this.

@Red Circle appears not to have logged in to these forums since joining and posting once at the beginning of last month, so I asked WhatFontIs.com to help me identify that font. It appears to be a freeware font called Flux Architect, which you can download (together with the other styles in the font family) from here:
