    I do not know what you mean by the resample option but I will look into it later to see if I can understand it a bit better

    Cheers I never thought of that but I can see how that would work. A couple of steps so to speak but I would get it right first time which is the bonus I am looking for.

    If the crop presets are the options that are under the driver options in the print dialog box then that is what I use and where the problem is. For example I crop a photo to what I want. Go to the print select the size and then select fit to printable and that is where the problem is as it is either to narrow or to short to fit exactly so then back to the photo to crop a bit more etc to get it to fit. If i have misunderstood your comment then sorry please put me straight. I just want to crop a photo with the crop tool to exactly fit for example a 5" * 3"  or a 10" * 8"  before I go to the print option.
    Once again everyone many thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Much appreciated.

    Thanks to al who helped with this. That whole style is new to me, but I was able to get something I was very happy with, which I attach, in case anyone is interested.

    Moderators can delete posts, but ordinary users can only hide them. However, your question and your own answer to that question may help other users, so leaving both in place may prove useful to someone else in the future.
    If you really want to make a post disappear from general view — so that only moderators can see it — click on the ellipsis (‘…’) in the top right-hand corner of your posted message and look for a ‘Hide’ option.

    There is Sculpt mode with the Pencil tool. May do what you need.

    Further contributions to an ongoing discussion in an existing thread seems more likely to result in Serif doing something. Going over old ground in yet another new thread will simply dilute the discussion and make it more difficult for everyone (including Serif staff) to review the points raised so far.

    I've always been attracted to Art Nouveau imagery, particularly that of the brilliant Alphonse Mucha, who is largely accredited for starting that appealing type of graphic art. I wanted to wrap my mind around the specific aspects of the craft of which this practice drawing is the first attempt. I plan to do more Art Nouveau all vector drawings in the future, unlike this image that contains both vector and bitmap embedded files. Technically this image is some sort of blend of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, the latter being the successor of the first art movement, I guess.

    Create a new document at the desired print size, and then place your photo in that document. After you resize and/or reposition the placed image, only the part that is visible on the canvas will be output when you print or export.

    I look forward to the day when the UI just has one button. Load a picture, (or just find one on the internet) press the button and let the AI do the rest, no other input, or artistic skill, needed at all in order to produce a great work of art; just like everyone else’s!

    Then either:
    you had V1 configured differently, and had the Assistant set to automatically Rasterize the layer (as @Old Bruce) mentioned;
    or in V1 you were working on a pixel layer, rather than a Placed or Pasted-in Image layer.

    If you purchased the Mac App Store version, log in to the MAS (using the same Apple ID as you used for the original purchase) and go to the ‘Purchased’ tab where you should find a download link or button. If you purchased from the Affinity Store, log in to your Affinity Store account and visit the ‘Downloads & Product Keys’ section to reinstate your Photo version 1 installation.
