Alfred reacted to v_kyr in Kawaii donut
Again on that donut stuff, I thought you've already managed all these things before in early 2022, where we gave some tips how such stuff can be made?
However, if it's in order to draw/create such wavy regular or irregular lines, you can do so by hand drawing with an iPad pencil by using the Affinity Pen or Pencil Tools.
Or you abuse some shapes here again as always before. - For example, you can create the wavy part also out of a regular cloud shape (or make the cloud shape irregular by converting the cloud shape to curves and then modify some of it's waves with the Node Tool accordingly) and then subtract that from a copy of an Ellipse...
...so something like this here (I just show it quickly, you have to do that all more accurate than I here on your iPad instead) ...

Alfred got a reaction from R C-R in lorem ipsum including "Cum" as a word?
It is perhaps worth noting that many (most?) of the individual words in standard ‘Lorem ipsum’ text are not scrambled, but (generally speaking) the sentences are scrambled/nonsensical.

@joe_lYou are hereby awarded summa cum laude, well done

Alfred reacted to joe_l in lorem ipsum including "Cum" as a word?
As being not a native speaker I am unsure if Jeff wanted to start a cumpain for a clean language or just thought it to be funny. A lot of fun would vanish from my life without a "good" pun, so I hope ANY language will not be tidied to nonsense by moral guardians.

It's not actually correct to say that "cum" has a different meaning in English, unless it's being used as slang, which is also true of many other English words.
From "Grammarist":
"The Latin loanword cum, originally a preposition meaning with, in English has come to mean plus or along with being. It usually takes the form [noun]-cum-[noun], with the two nouns denoting characteristics of a person or thing. It’s often used to describe an individual’s or thing’s contradictory or surprising characteristics—for example, “Jimmy is a hunter-cum-animal-activist.”
Like many Latin loanwords, cum may be either italicized or unitalicized. We usually stop italicizing them when they are well established in English, and cum has been around for centuries, so it’s not necessary to italicize it. Some writers do italicize it, however, to make it clear they’re using the Latin loanword and not the vulgar slang word."

Alfred reacted to Chills in Publisher V2.10 does not show font correctly
Now I understand. Many thanks.
Having uninstalled the Open Sans fonts and then reinstalled the static ones, I am now sorted.

Alfred got a reaction from Return in Publisher V2.10 does not show font correctly
The link takes you to a list of results relating to a search for posts about variable fonts.
To cut a long story short, the Affinity apps don’t currently support variable fonts. You need to uninstall the variable version(s) and replace them with the fonts which you’ll find in the ‘static’ folder that will have been created when you unzipped the download.

You are using the wrong versions of open sans aka variable versions which aren't supported in the affinities.
Here are mine:

@Paresh Here are some ideas for simple fonts. I thought they had a bit more "heft," in case you do plan to use text on top of your image. Although I definitely agree with @firstdefence that "less is more."

Alfred reacted to firstdefence in Publisher Version 1 - Tabs with dots?
yeah I was excited at the innovation of it all and accidentally added a gradient fill to the text.

Alfred reacted to Old Bruce in Publisher Version 1 - Tabs with dots?
The only concern I have is that the colours of the Text and the Arrow don't seem to be the same. Other than that I think you have a winner here.

Alfred reacted to firstdefence in Publisher Version 1 - Tabs with dots?
I think the add tab stop icon could be made more obvious, it's not as if they have to squeeze it in, they have plenty of space. So, I think I'm going to feedback with a slight amendment to the interface, wadda ya think, too subtle or have I played it just right?

Alfred got a reaction from Callum in Powerduplicate in Designer and Photo copy differencies change perfectly
Can you give a numerical example? ‘Power duplicate’ has never had an arithmetic progression option (which would allow e.g. 100, 80, 60, 40, 20). If you duplicate a circle of diameter 100 px and set the diameter of the the duplicate to 80 px, power duplicating will give you a geometric progression where each new diameter is 80% of the previous one: 100, 80, 64, 51.2, 40.96.

Can you provide a screen recording? A description like "it didn't work" doesn't give us anything to work with, so it really helps if we can see what's going on.

Alfred got a reaction from PaulEC in How To Guess The Print Size Of The Image
When I looked for that photo (Metallica frontman James Hetfield on stage in 2022) online just now, I found it labelled as “© Getty”. Knowing how fiercely Getty protects their copyright, you would be well advised to avoid commercial use of the image without permission.
