Alfred reacted to thomaso in Unable to select any of the tools/panels using Sonoma beta (split)
But aren't those tools generally a small minority? In my APubs photo persona only 1 of 45 tools in the panel refuses to get selected, while this one reacts quite friendly:

Can you explain this requirement for having a layer selected? – How do you select a tool to create a new object in an empty document?
Edit: especially in APub, as in Lenettes screenshot?

Alfred got a reaction from Old Bruce in Paper Format for Print - Size discrepancy?
Firstly, A4 is 210 mm × 297 mm, not 210 mm × 296 mm: the short side of A5 is 148 mm instead of 148.5 mm because half millimetres in the A series are discarded when you progress from one size to the next size down. Secondly, the 3 mm bleed is there precisely(!) because trimming is never going to be accurate to the nearest millimetre; likewise, a consumer-grade printer’s paper feed isn’t guaranteed to give you exactly the same margins from one sheet of paper to the next, even if you ignore the effects of temperature and humidity on the dimensions and smoothness of each sheet.

Alfred got a reaction from Cheshire in Crop to Postcard with Round Corners
Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @Cheshire.
If you use the Rectangle Tool to create a rectangle of a suitable size and position it on top of the photo, you should see controls (both on the shape itself and on the Context Toolbar while the shape is selected) for adjusting the roundness of the corners. The photo is very slightly rotated, with the top left-hand corner lower than the top right-hand corner, so you’ll also need to rotate either the rectangle or the photo before cropping. Once the rounded rectangle is exactly covering the photo, go to the Layers panel and drag the rectangle layer onto the thumbnail of the photo layer.
By the way (not that it matters in this particular instance) in general it’s a good idea to state which Affinity app you’re using.

Thanks for raising this, I've moved the thread to the V2 section as required

Alfred reacted to Pšenda in How to (re)order slices?
Serif has already announced that there is no need to duplicate threads from V1 and create more in V2. If necessary, the topic will be moved to V2.

Alfred reacted to Dan C in Paper Format for Print - Size discrepancy?
That would be a question that only your printers would be able to answer - as they should confirm the exact sizing and colour settings for the document, required for their printing processes

Alfred reacted to GarryP in How to create an object that forces others to transparency?
If you don’t mind the result being rasterised then you can set the Blend Mode of the ring layer to be Erase.
If you need the result to be vectors then you may need to use Compounds.
Attached video shows both methods.
Note that I used the Alt keyboard modifier when pressing the Subtract button on the Toolbar to get the Compound, otherwise the subtraction would be ‘baked in’.
Other functionalities with Compounds are available, see the Help for more information.

Alfred reacted to Dan C in Paper Format for Print - Size discrepancy?
Thanks for uploading your PDF @Rojarosguitar.
Your documents 'Trim Box' (the area inside of the bleed) is A4 in size, less 1mm in width.
Your documents 'Bleed Box' (the area including the bleed) is 3mm larger than this, on every side.
Your documents 'Media Box' (the area including the bleed and the printing cutting marks) is considerably larger - 12mm larger on each side and 18.6mm larger on the top and bottom compared to the Trim Box.
Therefore when printing on A4 paper, you are only seeing the 'Trim Box' area, which explains the margins on the printed page.
If you want to include the printer cutting marks, you will either need to print on larger paper, or scale down the document to fit.
I hope this clears things up!

Alfred reacted to Return in multiple photo frames the same size
Another approach is powerduplicate and transform objects separately.
Perhaps in combo with a guides setup and should work with the quick grid option too.

And to make it even more easy, you can assign a shortcut to toggle the docking on and off.

Hi @Erik Steinmeier and welcome to the forums,
You can still undock the tools in V2 so it is floating... View > Dock Tools... What made you think you couldn't?

Alfred reacted to retrograde in Naming the exported file by the artboard name in Affinity Designer
Hi @NathanC Export Persona is great and I do use it when it makes the most sense (lot's of exports or batches or different file formats or sizes etc...), but I think the expected behaviour should be when you "export as" with a single particular artboard that the export filename take on the artboards name. Similarly and sort of related is the expected behaviour that when you add an artboard it should add a 002 or some sort of "copy or new" indication to the end of the name otherwise you end up with a bunch of Artboard 1's in your layer stack which is basically, well... what's the point frankly.
Admittedly, I'm no software engineer or programmer so please tell me if this type of request would be extremely difficult to implement. But I think these expected behaviours aren't too out there. Seems by version 2 now some of this basic artboard housekeeping should get some love. I use Designer everyday for professional work and would love to see this little update make it in sometime soon. Pretty please. 🙂 Big fan of AD but somewhat mystified by these 2 artboard related oversights.

Alfred reacted to Return in Please reduce some steps for Eyedropper tool
It should have been gone or replaced in version2
Better to learn a new shortkey combo then fiddling around with this.
As for the pickers in affinity they could be streamlined into one picker that does all.
alt+drag /alt+click to select and ctrl+alt+click to add to document palette and add the same option to apply to selection when chosen on the toolbar.
This could be whatever layer selected whether a vector or raster and in any of the tools brush or shape.
Adding rightclick in the flow is to set stroke with selected color.

Alfred got a reaction from Return in Please reduce some steps for Eyedropper tool
For some of us it’s not merely strenuous. On my Windows laptop the LMB and RMB switches are covered by a single strip of hard plastic, so it’s impossible to press both at the same time.

Alfred reacted to winfried_z in AP Panorama stitching issue
Michael:
It appears to be a combination of the small overlap, the waves, and the rocks where the overlap is difficult to find.
I think with a lot of handcrafting one could obtain a result (see below), but this is far from being optimal, and if it's possible to do the series again, this is certainly preferable.
