Having followed the first seven lessons, I can only echo what Bill has said: I found the music in the first couple of videos quite intrusive, but (as one who has always enjoyed problem solving) I really value the depth of coverage. The music works fine for filling in the 'blank' spaces in the later videos, and the presentation style makes the material highly accessible.

I'm there, too. Thank you very much, Scott. :)
As one who is completely lacking in artistic talent, there's plenty of scope for me to "get better at" perspective drawing!

More great results, Darin! Wonderfully atmospheric.
Keep up the good work. :)

Thanks, Ben. Good luck with your project!

Which of James' many excellent tutorials helped you with this, Ben? This information might prove useful to others who are new to Affinity Photo.

Videos aren’t loading for me.
Nor for me. There's just a big gap where the videos should be, but the element inspector in my browser (Firefox) gives me these URLs:

Thanks, Miguel. That makes sense! I suspect that's why PhotoPlus doesn't support other types of plugins.
-
What’s unique about them, compared to Illustrator? I’ve never used DrawPlus, so I’m genuinely interested in what kind of innovative features it has for patterns.
I've never used Illustrator, so I can't give you a comparison between the pattern-handling features in the two programs, but these articles from the DrawPlus X8 Help should give you some idea of its capabilities in the areas that 'bleduc' mentioned:

Currently Affinity Photo only supports filter plugins. Other types of plugins/extensions (i.e. import/export plugins, file format plugins, automation plugins etc) are not supported.
Is that likely to remain the case for the foreseeable future, Miguel? In two decades of development, plugin capability in PhotoPlus never progressed beyond support for filter ('effects') plugins.

(Please, oh please, make Affinity Publisher able to open PagePlus documents!!)
Serif have made it very clear that we won't be able to open PagePlus documents in Affinity Publisher, so we'll have to make do with publishing as PDF in order to get our PP docs into the new app.
Let me know if I can be of help when you begin testing Affinity Publisher.
The beta version of the program is due for release either late this year or early next.
I'm excited about Affinity Photo, but will just have to wait until the Windows version is released - hopefully before long. If it's only half as good as it seems it will be it'll be goodbye to Adobe!
I'm another user who is looking forward to seeing the Windows version of Affinity Photo, but it won't be released until after the Windows version of Affinity Designer has come out.

If your target print size is 6" × 4", then your original 2200px × 1920px image is the wrong aspect ratio, so you need to crop it (e.g. to 2190px × 1460px) to correct that. As Simon says, the DPI value (300 or 250, or whatever) dictates the maximum printed size for acceptable quality, but for my example you wouldn't resize the cropped version down to 1800 × 1200 for a 6" × 4" print: you would simply print it at 365 dpi.

With Xara Designer I created vector cartoon characters for stock sites like iStock and Shutterstock (one of my galleries here http://www.shutterstock.com/g/gnurf).
Broken link. Try this one: http://www.shutterstock.com/g/gnurf

The 'Power Duplicate' feature should enable you to do what you describe.

Alfred:
Were my photos like this straight out of the camera, I wouldn't need Affinity Photo.
I thought as much, Darin! Since my question was essentially rhetorical, I guess I should have phrased it as such.
Thanks for the further details. :)
-
Very nice. Is that straight from the camera, or did you tweak it in Affinity Photo? If the latter, what adjustments did you make?

Hi,
I have Canon PowerShot SX40 HS that originaly does not shoot RAW format, but I make it through a software. Is it possible to add in the list and to support it in APh?
I'm guessing that you're using CHDK. Since the Serif Labs and Apple (Core Image RAW) lists both include the SX50 HS and SX60 HS models, I would think there's a good chance that hacked SX40 HS raw images will look OK in Affinity Photo. Have you tried it?

That's 1-1/2 years ago!
The 'feature roadmap' thread was created 1½ years ago, but it's constantly being updated.

Right now your only choices are Adobe's Indesign or Quark Xpress.
Those two are the obvious commercial choices, but there are open source alternatives such as Scribus.
-
I think the OP is looking for spot colour support.

Thanks, Miguel. The Perspective Tool and the Blend Tool are two DrawPlus features that I would particularly have liked to see in CraftArtist. I hope that both of these will soon find their way into Affinity Designer.

Hi Fantom,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Perspective / distortion Tools are already planned for Designer. Check Affinity Designer's roadmap for more info.
Searching that topic for 'perspective' only turns up discussions about the 'power duplicate' feature and vanishing points, not about the introduction of an actual Perspective Tool.
By the way, could someone please tweak the CSS for these forums? In the search box at the top of each page, the light grey text on a slightly lighter grey background is almost impossible to read.

You haven't said whether you're using Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo, but I suggest that you investigate the 'exclusion' and 'difference' blend modes.
