  1. They don't need to be literally midpoints, Mark. In fact, you don't need any extra points at all: if you like, you can just grab the top of the 'two triangles' shape and drag it upwards to create a big curve that encloses the peak of the mountain.
  2. +1 That egg shell looks quite real. (The former contents of the shell looks quite surreal!)
  3. Having left Designer running in the background for quite some time while I was browsing, I got an alert telling me that it had stopped working. When I relaunched it about half an hour later, I expected it to send an crash report, but it didn't. When the program finished reloading the three documents I had had open, I drew a rectangle on one of them. I clicked on the eyedropper to choose another fill colour and the program crashed with an Unhandled Exception error, notifying me that it would send a crash report on relaunch. I duly relaunched it, but once again no crash report was sent. I followed the same steps as before, and again got a crash when I clicked on the eyedropper (together with another notification that it would send a crash report on relaunch). I've attached the three crash reports that I found in my '%AppData%\Affinity\Designer\1.0 (Beta)\CrashReports' folder. fd12605a-49ff-4a15-bb60-92196249c569.dmp 7eff9114-ac20-4bd4-afff-3b52bc537103.dmp 7a1c304c-0674-4a23-b5d7-af4de79da572.dmp
  4. Does this ring any bells, Mark? On my system the outline around the cursor for the Shape and Text Tools in the Draw Persona, and for the Marquee Tools in the Pixel Persona, is grey rather than white, so it hardly helps at all. The black and white cursor for small brush nozzles is much better.
  5. I probably did, but since I live in the west of Scotland I'm used to that! ;) I just hope it doesn't take until Christmas to reach you!! :o
  6. If anything, they're a bit on the small side now! I don't think owls usually are as huge as tigers, anyway. :P Very nicely done, and a nice signature, too. :)
  7. Maybe it's coming by boat! (I had an unplanned visit to Norway, many years ago, in the middle of a holiday trip to Denmark. Going by boat would have taken too long for the time available, and would have been very expensive anyway, but it turned out that the timing was just right for cheap flights. A short but very pleasant stay in Bergen was the result.)
  8. Will Affinity Publisher on Windows be available soon after the Mac version, or will Affinity Photo on iOS come first?
  9. If your keyboard has an 'Alt Gr' key to the right of the space bar, you should be able to type vowels with acute accents by holding down that key while pressing and releasing the vowel key: Alt Gr + Shift + e = É
  10. It's good to see you posting your wonderful work here, Rosie!
  11. From her other posts, it would appear that Marianne ('Madame') is in Norway.
  12. I'm not seeing that here. I can select the mask thumbnail regardless of whether the object is expanded or collapsed in the Layers panel.
  13. Have you looked at the 'More...' options for AD's GIF export? If you restrict the number of colours to 32 or fewer, you will reduce the file size considerably.
  14. There are nine if you're only counting the ones that are associated with specific chapters, but ten if you include the 'core skills' one. :)
  15. Of course it makes sense, but what you're describing is a special case. Webmasters are generally more likely to discourage hotlinking than encourage it unless they're hosting something like a library of emoticons, but what's important in your proposed scenario is keeping the entire file name the same, not just the file type: replacing the file 'mr-lucky.gif' with 'mr-unlucky.gif' would be just as bad as replacing it with 'mr-lucky.png'. If I'm starting from scratch and I don't need animation, I'll choose PNG rather than GIF every time.
  16. If you aren't fond of keyboard shortcuts (I am, but I know many users aren't!) try moving the History panel to somewhere more easily accessible. I personally find the slider on that panel much easier to use than a conventional Undo/Redo stack.
  17. If you select one of the Shape Tools you get a black crosshair cursor. It does have a faint grey outline, but that isn't really enough to make it easily visible against a dark background.
  18. Perhaps it's indicative of the sheltered life I've led, but I cannot think of a situation in recent years where a PNG would not have been just as suitable as a static GIF.
  19. Embedded videos don't seem to be working as they should, but when I pressed the 'Quote' button at the bottom of Callum's post I could see the URL for this YouTube tutorial: Affinity Photo - Sketch Effekt (English Subtitles). Here's one in English: Transform any Photo into a Pencil Drawing (Affinity Photo Tutorial).
  20. I always find the hintline text quite useful for these things. If you hover over one of the four corner dots it say "Drag to resize selection" but if you hover over the extra dot it says "Drag to resize text". I think you must have rotated the object through 90 degrees.
  21. It's hard to tell without seeing the *.afdesign file, but it looks as though the text is trying to stay roughly within the bounds of the lifesaver ring.
