  1. @Patrick Connor x Affinity: THANK you so much for that very important update. PREFLIGHT is a lifechanger here. Looking forward to the next +0.1 updates. Impressive development.
  2. I also would recommend to NOT use any F-keys for important and very often used tasks while in the layout process. more and more of us are working on laptops and the F keys need to be access by hitting the fn and the Fx keys – in case of the preview mode you need two hands at a mac. I guess at a pc it should be the same.
  3. importing of INDD will never be a part of any non-adobe product as they are holding back the code of the file-format. and IDML will def be a part of a future release – I doubt already in v02. but I found a pretty solid workaround: I exported my latest INDD projects with the best quality PDFs and opened them in ADesigner. then saved it there. when opening those files in Apublisher the artboards have been transfered into pages and the text is still editable.
  4. this one goes again for motivation purposes: THANK YOU and AGAIN: GREAT JOB! this tool is all I wanted and needed after 2 decaeds of adobe "enslavent".
  5. if with the first update of a beta you added and/ or fixed that much already I am once more ensured the final version will be just fantastic. as before here again: big shout outs to the affinity team. thank you
  6. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ;). not only it makes all three apps "stand out" more from the adobe products with its naming "studio", it also makes the idea of "persona" more unique. and of course (the most IMPORTANT one) it makes it so so much easier to work with the studio panels. also it would be very very handy, if we could align the panels in two or three rows so we can use our bigger screens more efficient.
  7. today I have redone a whole booklet in publisher and despite the warning, not to use it for client projects yet, I have risked it. end of the week I will get it to a "real" printer. that went A) faster than in "affinity designer", B) after only 3 days of testing (!!!!) of a "new" software without any questions and work arounds and C) without ANY craashes! – all the complains make me speechless. I cannot address that enough. we should all stop compare this software to quark, indesign or pages (this one makes especially laugh). as those 3 tools can tell you by their names, all of those are simply different. all of them will work different. all of them will do things maybe a different way. – I remember the critique about the ways indesign worked in comparison with quark. now even xpress became really good with the update in may 2018, still indesign is the "go to" tool in dtp. – thank god nobody compares publisher with freehand.
  8. reading the comments I am confused what people DON'T understand in the word "BETA" guys, wait, relax and let the pros roll out the tool with all features
  9. I remember indesign 1 and 1.5. as also adobe pagemaker early stages. (younger) folks believe me: this beta is already a propper tool!
  10. this is not ment as a comment but a BIG THANK YOU to affinity team for that christmas gift in the late summer. I am working with adobe for 20 years this year, I have quited they subscription in march out of the sudden as they shut down adobe muse, switched do you guys (and to quark xpress – which I unfortunatelly do not like that much) and was waiting for publisher to drop. this tool is amazing. even in beta state. good job, much appreciated. THANK YOU.
  11. I love the integration of the masterpages into the layer panel. I found that, was irritated at first but then found it just great. well done, nice idea. nevertheless: this feature should work beside the rollover possibility to see which masterpage is applied. it is very helpfull to see that at once in the panel.
  12. I consider EXACTLY that the advantage of affinity: it's tools are covering ONLY the tasks the user should execute inside the environment they needed. when I want to layout, I pick publisher, with the persona switch I can add a vector logo / illustration f.e. after I have read few comments here alike yours, I am wondering, why the users are complaining about this minimal and focused approach of affinity when as I understand correcly you f.e. (as I as well) come from over bulked adobe products which try to do everything. this comment is ment as a question, not a critique.
