  1. Hello Everyone ! First of All Happy New year. ... This year starts with a great touhc of Creativity and some Fresh Air. This Beta Release just comes on time. @MattP @Sean P Thank you for this good one, i just Hope you had good Festive season with your family and friends. Promise you will see great stuffs created with Affinity Designer this year. Blessings !
  2. Hello everyone ! not sure this is the right place to post this but i found it to be the only place global suggestion goes and i take the opportunity to share my recent idea here. Well, i think it is time for Serif to develop a lace similar to Behance on its infrastructure. Designers, Photographs, illustrators and those working in the publishing industry using the Affinity range of products will be interested into this. it will also make it easier for those who have no knowledge or simply have no time of building their portfolio website/page to find a place where they feel at home. i know many will say : but why not just go on Behance or one of those shiny website out there and do the stuff ? My answer is : i just feel how much home alone you will feel when you see all peoples around you processing with the same software and sharing content that makes them be a family and you can't just use their content properly nor even share yours and they find it okay ! Better for now is Serif must develop such a platform, even making different level such as : Free (very simple) , Silver then Gold ! it will be place where people can just come browse and discover what is possible to be made with Affinity thus making the Forum a place for questions and answer. Yes we share content here, Yes it is helpful but all those good artist I've met here can't hide anymore behind a forum that no one can easily enjoy, it is time for Affinitizers to be openly revealed to the world. Serif is not playing a back court game nor a Toy story tales but a real stuffs that deserve visibility everywhere. Hope this will be of interest and not just forgotten. Blessings !
  3. Hi @Wosven coming back to your inputs, this is the really small changes i've made. unfortunately the requester loved it so much she took it already so i'm reviewing this on personal purposes and just hope she will ask me to send her the same stuffs so that will be the opportunity to send the improved one. Thank you so much for your precious inputs !
  4. Hello Everyone ! Was quite busy but wanted to share this with you. I've been trusted to work on another project for Naîloth 'the journalist', this one is not yet finished as you can see, the provided photo is of very bad quality and doesn't match and is too much blurry and simply i'm still learning about photo. Like the previous one, it is intended to make Naîloth visible on the scene and also it gives me a chance to apply few of the stuffs and technics i've recently learned. Like for the previous, don't hesitate to give me your inputs and advice, telling how you think i can manage to make things better. Blessings !
  5. I forgot to mention that the photo shooting was done with a smartphone: HTC Desire S ... the 'sac a main' casting was done on a normal table without any kind of reflector, lighting etc ... all level adjustment was done with Affinity Photo, the writings and all vector related stuffs done with Affinity Designer then everything converged unto Affinity Publisher. This project helped me to setup another kind of workflow that i find quite interresting for now ! Keep making Affinity better.
  6. Hello @Wosven you are so accurate. i had a similar feeling but actually skipped it somewhere in my brain. btw ... Naïloth is really happy and peoples around her find it okay so i'm kind of happy fir now only.
  7. Hello Everyone ! Happy New Year and May you be more inspired in all ways. I'm back with another quick Design i made for Naïloth 'the Journalist'; find it here and like i always do, write me your inputs and comments. The Design was made teaming the Affinity "Trium Vira" (Designer + Photo + Publisher) and intended for print. Only 1 question i ask: What would you change or add to make this design better if you where the selected Designer for this project ? Blessings !
  8. Happy New Year everyone ! Today i'm coming back to first say thank you to the whole Serif Affinity Team and Leadership for the great piece of software they are producing. But ... i believe with this new year starting now and the beta cycle still on going we can point out something that made Affinity really appealing and still was copied/implemented by major companies in their solution and that thing is ... live preview ! Today i would simply ask Serif Affinity Team to : 1- Push the live preview even forward, make it possible for us to live preview Boolean Operations 2- Group adjustment filters into categories thus making them well organized, I've noticed they are kind of from the same family so grouping will make it less tricky to understand what they are made for and what they supposed to do at different levels of application 3- Put similar Blending mode into their corresponding groups, there too they need to appear according to what they are capable or intended to do and having them just one column is not a good indication of the sub-group of functionality they refer too. i.e: i made massive use of Overlay blending mode until i took a course on the different blending options in photography and learned that Soft Light does the same thing but in a different manner, i since then use Soft light instead of overlay (which is use only when i want to go hard) and i get better results on photographic stuffs (when it has peoples on it). 4- Make it possible for Mask to turn black when we press ctrl+i/cmd+i to invert it, it is actually not doing that so we have to start painting with a brush on it the mask fill to reveal itself thus making hard to know if the invert worked or not. 5- Make it possible for Affinity to import/place .art3 files from Art Text 3 with Auto Update like it is possible to do with Affinity Line products, this will compensate with Affinity not being capable of 3D stuffs like does Art Text 3 at this stage and will make Affinity even appealing and a better tool to use simply because it's initegrates other files into it's workflow. 6- Publisher is lacking of default shortcut to access Resource Manager please fix. 7- Publisher makes hard when it comes to update a linked file that have changed or have been updated, the pop(up shows but only with the "close button" it should also have the "update" button when the resource manager will allow us to update more files. Well that was my 7 point and suggestions to help Affinity be better in this New year. Blessings !
  9. Hello @VectorWhiz i'm so glad of your words and you too are a great Designer. i've browsed your website and found that great job you do with pixels and vectors and i really like it. Blessings !
  10. He @Wosven i'm really with your reaction as it is this kind of reaction i expected from Affinity Community. TEGRA brand actually have their own logo but this project was designed to be an independent one not linked with what they currently have ( their logo is in very low resolution and i would like that blurry stuff on one of my works unless we agree for re-branding contract). Yes i would do that but one thing is i'm still learning all things around Design and still struggling with everything that tends to colors or photos, so thanks bringing out this point as it help me to take clear note of what to upgrade as skills. i'm just Off a talk with Naïloth (the journalist) and she agreed with me (actually you) on that point, so i will make necessary correction and update the shared mock-up so you can all see the change. i'm so happy that you and others have brought some interesting points that help a lot. Activating our inner Creative gift is not as easy as we think it is but we are to never back down ! Blessings !
  11. Hello @Scott Williams i'm maybe asking too much but i believe you are the skilled guy to whom i can ask this. There is a great tool in Affinity photo called the Refine Selection tool and you have talked about that tool in one of your tuto (i believe) but will it be possible to make a tuto dedicated to Hair Selection, Subject selection etc ... that make good use of that tool with its masking capabilities ? my case (which i believe is the case of many here): Hair selection is really a nightmare in Affinity Photo even after watching the official Video Tuto which is too much fast to my like and leave no place for a good learning. So as i said having someone like you to make such a tuto is a good thing, don't want to use external tools for selection + masking or Background removal but would be very happy to manage everything from the same place: Affinity Photo. Blessings !
  12. Hello @GarryP ! it's a pleasure to read from you today, well it's exactly what i meant with this design. I take good notes of the points you have mentioned as they are pertinent and will help me do better with my next project. The lady on the Ads is starting with radio and she's really talented while she never went to school of journalism and never worked in any form of media before, so i created this set of Ads to help her be visible and get followers from all around the town. in my country most of Radio guys are unknown, i mean totally unknown at the point nothing is organized to celebrate them. Maybe when few will see this they will get out of their hiding places. @MEB thank you so much for pointing me (through another topic) to Art Text 3, it happened to be very useful for this project. @Scott Williams thank you so much for your tutos, i've learned good things there, my contour selection was bad and i just it fixed after i watched your content... Well this project is still the first one since i learned from your content and there are still stuff i need to understand. @Sean P remember about the Ai topic ? Well, subject selection (with auto feather etc...) is actually the kind of operation that will take good benefit of Ai. Blessings to Y'all !
  13. Hello everyone ! i'm back in this topic with this other one concept. Made with Affinity Photo + Affinity Publisher with the help of Art Text 3 (for 3D lettering) The request is working for a Radio in my town and she's is really happy with this concept while i'm not that 100% Okay ! Please take your time to look at it and tell me what missing and what you think you could do to make it even better. Blessings !
  14. Okay this beta is really good but ... something small that i feel is a bug. * Create a mask layer * invert the mask with ctrl+i / cmd+i * the mask keeps its color (white ....) it is confusing because a created mask should display white fill (as in reveal state) and display a black fill (as in conceal) when inverted. have anyone noticed it yet ? i know it turns the opposite color when you paint with the brush on it but once again i should be able to see long time before i paint on it if it is a normal or an inverted mask. Please team, fix when you can. Blessings !
  15. This Tuto is Okay ! i like it, it's a bit too long for my taste but it is okay. The Technics are so nice; please do another one personally i'm struggling with processing photos with APhoto. if possible you can help us create efficient workflow and point out the To DO and Not To Do thus helping us to not overdo the work. i strongly believe this video was missing in the APhoto range of tutos and i Welcome it. Blessings !
  16. Hello Everyone ! Would ask for more Non-Destructive capabilities to be added to Affinity Photo. There are great initiative taken with certain tools using a blank pixel layer but i believe more needs to be implemented and documented. i'm first thinking about : The Tone Mapping Persona: this is a great place for making our work better but it's only works in a destructive way (maybe i don't how to do it) but it would be great if a tone map can be added to a mask or a blank pixel layer then we can chose from there to map only a certain area/object etc of our photo/picture/ Development Persona: Great place to spend time working on better picture but also everything there is destructive, here i propose that one applied, our development to appears on sub or top layers similar to filter or mask or whatever dev's may find then from there we can mask this or that or simply make it possible continue where we left it in case we click the development persona again. Same thing should be applied to Liquify persona too. in fact, more Non-Destructive is okay and will be well received. if anyone knows how to do deep Non-Destructive works and/or know where to find tutos that talks about, please share ! Blessings !
  17. Hello Everyone ! Talking about Fonts; it would be great and really helpful if Serif could add a functionality that allows us to Preview - Select and install font from Google Fonts website thus closing the gap. I know that many here and over the web love it when things are managed from on place, also a Font pair capability would be welcome too ! Just these two can make the Affinity line go up to where others have never stepped before but also draw more Designer whom work is specialy font based like Chris Do etc... Dev's and Managing team should think about this and take note of it.
  18. Hello !
  19. Thanks @MEB i have Art Text 3 on my Mac and was just about to remove it but will give it another try. Well talking about external plugins or external apps as plugins to Affinity, Softwares like Art Text 3 would be of great help if they be included or added as plugin to help us create shiny 3D stuffs then get those back to Designer or Publisher or even Photo for further works. will Serif make it possible for us to plug couples of apps to the Affinity line the same way some other guys here can make use of Nik collection or Luminar or other solutions to power their Photo works to another level?
  20. Dear can you tell me more about the color replacement brush tool and what it is intended for ?
  21. Hello @Phily Happy to read your question, let me now add my 2 cents here. in fact, i have a Technic i enjoyed a lot for days which consist to duplicate the Brush you want to work with, then you go to its settings and in the advanced tab simply slide up the Hue bar; don't forget to put the setting next to that Hue bar to (by unfolding it) to Velocity or simply whatever you may prefer. After that's done, close it and enjoy painting with flowing Hue colors. 100% Hue with Velocity will give you more color variance, if you set less percentage of Hue then you will get colors that fits in that space only (which i found not bad at all). Hope this will make you happy !
  22. Hello @Andy Somerfield I'm happy for this new update. Will download and revert here if i find anything that requires attention. Blessing !
  23. i've actually started a new topic on that, you can find it here : https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/74938-edit-with-my-suggestion-for-the-affinity-range/&do=findComment&comment=390644 Maybe it's the right place for us to share about that, just before the Admins splits this talks or simply tell us this is an OT. Hope to see you there with as much inputs as you can so we can get the Dev's attention on that precious thing. Blessings !
  24. Well ! i'm back with this other which i believe will help us all. Personally i like the way Serif made it cross-edit between all 3 piece of software but ... because there is always a but ! i Think the way it was and is managed is a bit counter productive or maybe not at its fullness. let me explain ! Here when you have a file opened on APub and want to do some work on it with ADesigner you can Edit with Designer then the whole project is transferred there leaving APub empty of everything but sometime we only want to edit a precise thing such as a smart shape etc... thus making the transfer of the whole project to ADesigner a kind of ... What if Serif could make it possible for us Click on the Object we want to edit and : 1- Right click on it then chose Edit with : Photo or Designer (depending of what we may want to achieve) 2- After selecting the desired object, we can also click the related persona (place where we want to edit) then have that precise thing migrated there for its edit 3- Should be the option we currently have, if we select nothing but click on one of the persona or chose to Edit with ... then whole project get migrated there for its further edit leaving APub Blank. The first 2 options should leave the core project opened in APub then only we should be able to edit the select object then click save to get its edit saved as an update withing the already opened and not closed project withing APub. The we can chose to edit only a part of the project without leaving the main tool we use and see the updates in real-time. Well, more geared peoples can add to this idea and help make this get better. Blessing !
