  1. My workflow once I finish editing is to place a Photologo watermark on my pictures and save to Photos App for sharing. Place > Place from Photos (where I have the watermark saved) ...button on iPad menu Export > Share > Save Image My watermarked image is now in Photos App. For the last couple of days some images do not save the watermark and others save multiple copies same image with watermark. Very strange - I have updated to IOS 15.4 and Affinity for iPad 1.10.5 Any ideas what could be wrong ? Thanks I have attached an image where the watermark worked
  2. Thanks, I actually already own a copy of Affinity on both my iPad and my MacBook. I had switched to Lightroom as all my friends use it and I can get help easily plus I like the Cloud feature as my iPad was getting a bit full with af files Appreciate the input all
  3. If I understand then, if say, I have 8 images at various focal lengths, I should process them in Lightroom first, then bring them into Affinity to merge ? If I stack them first and export them from Affinity as jpg, tiff, whatever and then bring that file into Lightroom I will have lost most of the data that I would have had from having shot RAW in the first place ..... Perhaps I need to buy Photoshop to create the merge ? Assuming that because they are both Adobe they might marry better ? I am perplexed best course of action, or perhaps I am just not understanding the advice....
  4. Hello While I started my Photo editing learning journey with Affinity, I have since migrated to Lightroom Cloud - long story. I do however, own an Affinity License and it is installed on both my iPad and MacBook Pro. I am in the early days of experimenting / learning to Focus stack and have been looking into Photo merge the resulting images. I could add Photoshop to my Adobe subscription or use Affinity. My question is workflow - RAW images from Sony (*ARW) 42 MP Do I first photo merge in Affinity and then process Exposure, etc in Lightroom ? Will the merged Affinity file still be a RAW Sony file or will it be different in some other way, and if so, is there a workable solution ? Is there some other potential issue or problem I am not considering ? Thanks for your advice
  5. Sorry for screaming an alarm. Affinity files are now 83 GB / 256 iPad Pro and at this pace will become a storage problem. When I edit a pic, I do keep a copy of the RAW, and edited picture in DropBox where I have 2 TB of space. I have not deleted any of the finished edits from the Affinity app itself. Can I safely do so in your view or is there a better place / method you would suggest. Thanks much
  6. Does anybody know if Topaz DeNoise will work with Affinity iPad ? I am running 1.10.2.266 My Sony images with 100-400 + 1.4 TC can at time be "soft". Shot with Sony a7RIII and typically 1/1000 f8 (Birds are my thing) Or, does AP have a comparable tool that will help with "crispness" - I am a Beginner Photo Editor Thanks
  7. Ah, a solution ! If I set the camera to take RAW + jpeg, the merged file is now visible in Photos. I am not sure that when I import the picture into Affinity I am actually importing the RAW "component", but I am told by a Forum contributor on DPReview that the file is merged and that is what will happen. Anyway, my workflow is now restored and here is an example of a picture I took today, though interestingly the EXIF data is lost (that will be another detective project for another day) Please be gentle with my editing skills, they are in progress
  8. I posted this to Apple Support Forums Uploading RAW files to iPad (Sony ARW) I recently upgraded my camera from Sony a6400 to Sony a7RIII, the fundamental difference is Full frame and higher resolution to 42 megapixels. My prior workflow was to upload pics from SD card using the Apple SD card reader to iPad where I would be able to further delete unwanted pictures before importing into my Photo Edit software - Affinity. With the new camera, the RAW file images are not visible, they appear as gray squares in Photos App. They are visible in the Edit software so there is no data loss. I have tried to upload to iPad in both Compressed and Uncompressed formats. The Sony RAW files still have an .ARW extension so as best I know they are the same as before, just bigger. Could it have something to do with the latest IOS update 15.0.2 ? Would really appreciate a solution, thanks
  9. Sadly, the App does not support RAW transfer Thanks for the suggestion
  10. This technically, not an Affinity question - allow me to explain please. My workflow was to upload RAW files to iPad using Apple Card Reader, further select and then edit in Affinity. I upgraded from Sony a6400 to Sony a7RIII (24 vs 42 megapixels) and when I go to view pictures on iPad to decide what I will keep they are all gray squares / image not visible. I posed this question in DPReview Forum and called my camera store and I got a variety of potential solutions, the most likely being that IOS cannot read Sony compression, so I took some pictures today without compression, but the same result as compressed. Perhaps someone here has experienced the same problem and found a solution ? - keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks
  11. My main interest is Sharpening. Aside from image size question, do these programs work well, Imlarger seems to be good per You Tube Is Topaz better, and will it work with Affinity iPad and Mac ?
  12. I received an email from Affinity Revolution with a link to a short tutorial about image sharpening. The presenter was discussing AI Image Enlarger. https://imglarger.com, and the results do look impressive. I remember also seeing many ads for Topaz which I did not pursue but think is a program as opposed to a web service. I did not pursue the latter as after a quick search it sounded like some compatibility issues with Affinity. I attempted a quick trial with imlarger but the site restricted me to 5MB file size. First of all, and some may find this ridiculous, I do not know how to shrink my existing files to that size; so I have sent their Support an email to ask if that is a limitation with a paid subscription - I wonder why I would want to shrink my images that much, it has to affect quality no ? My other question is about these types of programs generally - do they work, and if so, which is the best in the opinion of the learned ? Thanks
  13. I changed the setting in MacBook Photos to "Download Originals to the Mac", and am now seeing 2 files for every picture ! An .ARW (which I assume is the Sony RAW format), and the .jepg, which is the processed picture. It is interesting, because when looking at the pictures in Photos on the iPad, the RAW files are visibly labeled per my post above. Attached is a screenshot AP Mac with the mouse pointer over one of the .ARW files. I think my problem might be solved.Look forward to Dan C comment. Thanks
  14. Attached as requested First picture is from iPad, second is from Mac Thanks for your efforts and advice
  15. Thanks for your response. Attached is a screenshot of File > Open in Affinity Mac showing that from Photos, the only available pictures are the already processed ones. (This processing was done AP iPad) The first screenshot is of Photos on the Mac, showing that the RAW Butterfly pictures did indeed come over to the Photos App. I only chose to Edit 3 of them. This is very odd, I have no idea why this is happening. Some of the suggestions are to load pictures into iCloud, etc, but I am sure you can appreciate this would dramatically affect workflow. On the iPad I would upload pictures physically from the SD card, I would then scrub in Photos only keeping the ones I wanted to work on. After Editing in AP, I would simply keep both the RAW and Edited in Photos and upload to DropBox for backup. I hoped to do the same with AP Mac by either connecting the SD Card reader to USB C port, or the camera directly to USB C. Aside from my perception (?) that AP Desktop is more robust than AP iPad, I am running into space problems on the iPad I was thinking last night that perhaps I do not have the latest version of AP Mac, which is 1.8.6, but per Google, it does appear to be. This is the newest MacBook Pro, and it runs the new OS BigSur
  16. Sorry folks, I am having trouble making myself understood...... When I attempt to open a RAW file in Affinity Mac, the only files visible in Photos are the already edited ones (jpeg), the unedited (RAW) ones are not, yet they are definitely in the Photos App on the Mac ....
  17. Thanks for your response. I realize that File>Open will take me to the pictures for upload into Affinity desktop for processing. As you can see from the attached screenshot, the available images are .jpeg or .heic (which are pictures taken with my iPhone). The RAW images taken with my Sony camera are not visible, I believe the file extension is .arw I do not know if this is because of a setting in Affinity or some other issue, but when I go to open a file in Affinity iPad the RAW files are there. I have tried all the different potential places in the screenshot below and I cannot find them. They are in Photos per my first post.
  18. I purchased a new MacBook Pro a few days ago, and am learning how to use Affinity on the Mac vs Affinity on iPad. When I open Affinity on iPad, there is a + sign top right corner which then gives me the options for bringing the file into the program. In my case, this is the Photos App and as you can see from attached, the RAW files are listed. I uploaded all my Photos from iCloud to the new Mac, and they are all there - RAW and Processed (now jpeg) When I open Affinity > File > Open, the RAW files are not visible in any of the dialogue boxes that I have been able to discover. Grateful if someone would tell me what I am doing wrong ! Thanks in advance
  19. Please forgive me, I am restarting everything...... I do have the Mac version on the Mac ! I have gone back to my Udemy tutorials and started from scratch as the Mac interface is so different from iPad one. File > Open. The only pics I am seeing are the edited.jpg format pictures not my RAW pics which are visible in the Photos App on the iPad. Is this a question of creating a default in Affinity for where to search for the picture to be edited ? I use a Sony camera and do not know the extension of the Sony RAW file, is that it ?
