freehand rotation of canvas
kirk23 replied to kai.wheatley's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
it works with Wacom Intuos ring too -
So we could select by name or by color tag , invert selection and turn off layers keeping only those tagged on . Basically mimicking Photoshop layer compositions.

HEIF (HEIC) format support on export
kirk23 replied to forwanderer's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
let's get import of files with alpha fixed first. All files with zero alpha pixels got them multiplied on RGB channels. It's wrong and needs to be fixed before any exotics. -
That all is already possible in APhoto through "procedural" live filter where you could set to which channel a layer inputs. By setting zero values to CMY you , make the layer input to only K etc. And for alpha you can use erase blend mode and blend ranges . Also levels and curve adjustment layers have a drop down to chose which channel is affected. In a word editing a specific channel is no issue in APhoto at all. The problem although APhoto multiply zero alpha pixels on other channels when open a tga or tiff with alpha. making "black holes" in them . But I agree such a simple interface could be easier to work with . more elegant and simple. I'd love we have a few feature borrowed from Krita. Clone layers that inherit transforms for example. 16/32 bit cmyk. non-destructive mesh deform. wrap mode etc Krita has chances to become more advanced 2d image editor than Affinity

Live filter from macro
kirk23 replied to kirk23's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
It It can but it's nowhere same as a live filter that reacts to changing underlying content so you can see instant feedback. In a word like a kind of self-executing macro or like auto recalculating node based structure. -
Live filter from macro
kirk23 replied to kirk23's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
They tweak-able but not in that live manner and can't work as adjustment layers i.e work only on selected layer not over what beneath . I can't make a live affine filter from it for example. The one working as live pattern preview for the whole layers stack like in Photoshop. Or I can't make "height to normal map" filter done from 32 bit emboss or edge detect with the switch on and of recorded in macro steps on top of layers stack and edit "height" layers beneath. I understand such live calculations could be slow as hell probably but I would prefer to decide myself if it's workable for me or not. A better idea would be a node based editor for live filters but my guess the calculations recorded as a macro is fine too. If only Filter Forge could work that "live" way but as far as I know it also works only with a single layer content , not "what beneath" Would we have a "live rasterize" filter we could apply macro on it could be fine too probably. -
Where is planar projection?
kirk23 replied to Enrico 13580's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
try Hugin , it has different projections and free -
I did my own "solidify" macro from a loop of maxblurs and want it to be adjustable live . Would be nice if we could turn our own macro into a custom live filter we could tweak on the flly . I see lots of possibilities .

my wish list: 1. scatter random symbols alone a brush stroke / spline with offset, rotation scale and order settings etc like nozzles brush in Photo only convert-able to regular symbols That text along a path workaround is ridiculous and unusable. 2. dropped bitmap is an instant vector shape with bitmap fill you could reshape or boolean , no need to deal with masks 3. better booleans 4. textured image brush having several alternating sections like it had been in Seirif soft before. 5. edge feather as live filter without necessity of masks or perhaps just erase mode for inner glow 6. tags panel

Please Serif, make a color model version with one more channel for depth. Something like CMYK but rather RGBD . With typical rgb gamut and a special depth combine blend mode where layerA depth has lighter(max )blending over layerB depth and giving an intersection mask for its rgb values, all codded into "depth combine" blend mode. Look into Blender compositing node of same name for a math clue. Plus a few depth aware blurs and other live filter. Like displace that use a layer depth channel for pixel shift distances . Could be a huge step ahead of Photoshop which is focused only on pretty silly Ai toys nowadays . A real competitive advantage. I am still talking about totally 2d approach to depth , nothing complicated . In fact we could do it party even now with CMYK , just inconvenient as hell. Having a special RGB+depth mode would be so much easier. Some 2d artist tools already does it : Art rage , Painter etc. We could have a fantastic impasto with this for sure but having a direct access to RGB+D mode ( in Designer too) could be much more than just impasto. We could use phone photos depth renditions , easy focus tricks , CG compositing (one frame), textures for games and movies and limitless other possibilities. Your user base would expand into CG area much beyond just photographers and graphix designers.

Yeah, I am wrong probably. Have not noticed anything new after linked layers.

No DAM, 3d painter or any other detours please. There are a number of sufficient open source and cheap options. If they start to do DAM we wouldn't see any advancement in PHoto or Designer at all and they are so far from what Adobe offers yet.

I have a feeling Serif fired half of the staff . They make not enough or something. We see only minor bugs fixing no new features really

+1 I could be fine if Alt+click isolate not single but selected layers at least . But better be layercomps/ tags or whatever panel we we could set document states based on layer names and color tags . Inside embedded docs too like what Photoshop does with its layercomps. Very much missed feature indeed

Camera Profiles generated using Xrite tool
kirk23 replied to killzen's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
I use lut layer . It does have a nice feature Photoshop doesn't. inferLUT button allows you to choose a picture pair . original and a target with colors corrected . You can choose an original photo of checker and and the one where colors are set as they intended to be by books and save a color correcting LUT preset. I have no idea how precise it is but looks fine to me. -
Here I did a new version of my previous macro that makes any open file with alpha ready for instant channel editing. Whatever you put in RGB and A groups goes straight into respective channel at export . It works a bit slow because it makes my homemade version of "solidify" to close "black holes" gaps in RGB channels ( where zero alpha pixels multiply pure black on RGB channels) . You can decrease the number of "maxblure" steps to make it quicker . btw. The only issue with Aphoto and channels is that it multiplys zero value alpha on RGB . I asked Serif to fix it in feature request thread and nobody care . Here my last try. Let's make Serif hear . If they fix it APhoto would be a better choice really for channel editing since it does it non-destructively. Well Photoshop can do it too , just in less convenient way . openRGBA4.afmacro

It could be somewhat working and tolerable if we had a button /command to show only selected layers. Like isolating all selected layers with Alt and keep them exportable that way. Still contrary to Photoshop that wouldn't work through embedded files tagged layers and this is a must too.

When a tga file has 0,1 or 0,01 alpha it's ok , but once the alpha is zero Aphoto opens the tga with a black hole in such place rendered down to RGB channels. Can we have it fixed please? I am sure it's a bug. We can workaround this when export tgas from Aphoto but noting helps when we open them. It renders Aphoto totally useless for editing existing tga files.
