Welcome to Affinity Forums
If i understood you correctly the effect you are looking for is called double exposure. Do a search for that term plus Affinity Photo and you will find plenty of tutorials on YouTube.

You might also want to consider some shading to define the shape of the woman because the displace option in Affinity doesn't work quite right at the moment.

Welcome to the forum.
You can simply choose the Move Tool(V) (after you placed/pasted the image) and resize it using the handles or the transform values in the bottom right corner.

Use the "File -> Place ..." menu command instead, which allows you to scale an image or insert it in it's original size. - Other than that when you paste in an image, you can also select it (it's layer) and resize it via the mouse or transform panel.
