Joachim_L got a reaction from GingerVamp in Punblisher shut down while using "automatically adjust table row to content"
This is fixed in the next upcoming 1.8x version. If you like, you can test the beta. Saving a file with the beta 1.8x won't open in 1.7x, so be careful.

There is an automatic lens correction applied. You can turn the Lens Correction off on the Lens tab or if you do not want an automatic lens correction applied, visit the Assistant. Icon looks like a butler located on the top toolbar.

Joachim_L got a reaction from big smile in Publisher: Working with imported Publisher files: Selecting pages and resizing
Everyone has a different workflow, mine is to keep pages separate. This means I would have setup as A5 portrait, facing pages, starting left. So if needed you can export or import as separate pages.
Right now you have to use the Vector Crop tool to get the placed document smaller. Of course you can select which page to show. Click the placed document in the layer panel and have a look now at the top context toolbar. There is a dropdown, where you pick the page that has to be shown.
But I must admit, that in the current 1.7.3.481 is a small render glitch not always showing the correct page, depending on the used zoom level.

Joachim_L got a reaction from Catrin in Remove fonts?
C:\Windows\Fonts
Here you can delete the fonts (maybe some can only be removed as administrator). Close the application and restart. Now the fonts should be not available anymore.

Joachim_L reacted to GarryP in What is the Texture Line Style in Paragraph Decorations for?
I’ve tried to assign a Brush to a Decoration Stroke via the Designer Persona of Publisher but it always applies the brush to the text stroke rather than the decoration stroke.
However, if that icon is going to be removed, as Callum said above, then that’s the end of the discussion I suppose.
On the other hand, I think it would have been nice to be able to produce something like the examples in my attached image.

Is the Preview Mode activated? It is the windscreen wiper symbol at the top.

Joachim_L reacted to David Asch in Preview of changes to a text style
Hi Joachim_L,
I think my technical language wasn't clear - I mean overrides. In InDesign, for example, when you hover over the style it displays the override detail - it used to display the entire style detail with the changes at the bottom.
I think I've found it now. It's at the top of the style panel in Apub.

Joachim_L got a reaction from pixelstuff in Plug-Ins, Add-Ons, Add-Ins, Extensions
Being a tester of Publisher here for while watching wishes, suggestions. The wanted features for a software vary with each personal demand. Some want a calendar wizard, some want a Word Count, some want a QR-generator, some want this some want that. Personally I don't need none of the listed above. But this is fine, I accept the fact and not judge that others have other demands.
So wouldn't it be nice if there would be a possibility for extending APublisher/ADesigner/APhoto with third-party software/scripts? A kind of store where you can buy the extra feature you want? So Affinity could focus on the core and would others do the gimmicks/extras. I am confident that this move will open the Affinity Range to a wider market. Often enough I was reading "I won't buy Publisher until it has this feature". On the other hand there must be someone who see the (financial) benefit programming the extensions.
Just an idea.
P.S.: I would love to see a ADesigner plug-in for my vinyl cutter.

Place your word upon the black rectangle, select both and then Geometry -> Subtract. Or if it is enough that the word is white, set the layer with the word to Erase.

Hi Joachim_L,
Here's the dropbox link for the files. They will be passed to Gabe. Thanks for your support.

Joachim_L got a reaction from Gabe in Master change in double page spread
Works also if you zoom in or out. Seems to be a render problem. If I try your recipe on the next spread, the master elements are instantly removed. This seems to be fixed in beta 1.8.0.556.
Edit: Hmm, overlooked that we are already in the beta forum. What is your version? First I tried with 1.7.3.481.

Joachim_L got a reaction from Gabe in Adding pages from file between pages of target document crashes application
No, I was adding an existing file into an already content filled file.
Often enough Affinity applications fixed themselves from one work day to the next. So this is here the case too. I tried to repeat the steps from yesterday and it is working today as it should.
Sorry for wasting your time.
Sorry again, Gabe. Your Thanks came to soon. I found a way to crash by adding pages. Only thing I have to check is whether the linked files are to blame. I'll report later.

Joachim_L got a reaction from John Hall in Passport Photos
First of all the shown image has a size of 33,02 x 48,006 mm. So you need to resize and crop a bit. Second, when you export to JPG, click the More button and untick Embed ICC profile and Embed metadata. This saves you some kilobytes. Third, on the first page of the export dialogue use the slider for quality and decrease it a bit.

Wow, thanks. This is great service. Having seen many tech support attempts, this is top 3 I have ever seen. Makes Affinity again even better.

The fix was for Affinity Photo Beta 1.8.0.165 which is the Mac version. These changes were not propagated to the current Windows Beta build yet.
The following is a screenshot from this version -

Joachim_L got a reaction from JET_Affinity in 1.8.0.555 Cog Tool
My personal opinion: I don't like the sliders anyway. Depending on the sensitivity of the input device or moving the slider too fast you are never so precise as typing in values. My first steps with Affinity and the sliders gave me the impression of how unprecise the workflow is. But I found out that there are other ways to get the precision, so everything is fine now and I avoid using the sliders as much as possible.
