Lost in translation? Wenn man ein neues Dokument erstellt, kann man sehr wohl Millimeter festlegen. Zwischendurch kann man immer einfach die Einheiten umstellen, entweder mit dem Hand-Tool (Pulldown in der Context Toolbar) oder mit Rechtsklick oben links auf die Lineale oder oder. Wenn man es noch weiter treiben will, dann gibt es in den Einstellungen Benutzeroberfläche die Haken bei Linien und Text in Punkt rauszunehmen.
Wo Callum recht hat, ist die Tatsache, dass wenn man bestehende Bilder öffnet, die Einheiten manuell umstellen muss - Methoden siehe oben.

First I would say Create Palette from Document, but although all colours from the document are now in the palette, clicking on any element will not show the colour in the Swatches panel. Also making a colour global and changing the colour afterwards has no impact on elements in the document.

Have the Move Tool selected, click Spread Setup from the top toolbar, change the Page Preset to US Letter, visit then the Scaling tab, select Rescale and click OK. Please note, that the ratios between A4 and US Letter are different, so you have to adapt your layout a bit (I guess).

+1 One of the parts driving me mad sometimes, that values are kept for the next object. A preference to switch this behaviour on/off would be nice. Making a simple text frame an asset is a workaround, but nothing more.

Saving as a package is a handy function and was strongly demanded on the forums, but why this way?
I can Save as Package from APu AND AD. In both cases the file extension of the document is .afpackage. Serif knows for sure, that Windows can only assign one application to a file extension?
The only difference between both file extension is, that you get the package dialogue. Once you open the package you'll never see this info again. So why not leave the original file extensions and issueing the same dialogue with the title "This document was packaged" with all the information?
Why does the target folder has to be empty? A possible workflow scenario could be that I worked on a bunch of print products with recurring images and fonts and want to have ONE package without sending doubled, tripled, quadrupled sources. Right now I have to do a boring moving and replacing job.

I would not go so far. From my own experience I used the story editor quite often, but this is many years ago and more or less the bad monitor resolutions and sizes were to blame. With higher resolutions and bigger monitors (second monitor) I never used it again.
But in a way you can mimic your own story editor. Create a e.g. A3 page in your document to place your text you want to work with. Make all text frames linked in your document. Once you are done with your writing, decrease the height of the text frame you did your writing in to 1 mm. So all the text flows into the other text frames. Yes, I know, this is more a hack than a proper solution, but better than nothing until Serif decides one day to implement a story editor.
 

I am curious about the calculations Serif is doing to finance all their expenses. At some point there is naturally no increase or lower increase of sales. What then? Developing for free, lurking around in dark places at the train station to get some extra income?
In the end you are free to decide: Work with the 1.x branch (which will function even after 2.x) or to pay for 2.x.

Honestly? I maybe wrong, but upgrading CS1 >> CS2 >> CS3 >> CS4 >> CS5 >> CS6 >> CC whateverversion was never free of charge.

Have a look at Decorations in the Paragraph panel. Maybe not exactly what you are looking for. Or create a 1-cell-table.

Yes, it is pain in the lower back, that hiding and locking works so different with AD than other programmes. Unfortunately you cannot determine the scope or selection where the same should be selected. As often you can workaround: Set temporarily the opacity for elements who are not meant to be selected to a different opacity and then change back to the original opacity value.

Turn off the automatic lens correction / selection at the Assistant Manager (top toolbar).

I guess this was asked before, so forgive me for being too lazy to search.
Currently I am working on a manual split into several files, because of the complexity of the vector images inside. In total there would be about 200 pages. Using the section function I can determine the start of the page numbering. Unfortunately the "real" page numbers are still starting from 1. So let's say my document is starting from page 67, and there is some text pointing to page 80. So moving to that page 80 I have to go to the "real" page 14 of the document. Let's say I want to print the document pages 71 to 78, so I have to use "real" pages 5 to 12 in the printer dialogue.
What I mean is, that it would be nice if the "real" page numbers would be equal to the "document" page numbers for easier navigating and printing (like in ID).

You have to group them to get them all rasterized. But you are right, I would expect too that all selected get rasterized.

Yes, unfortunately in your file the layers are not named, so one of the Serif developers have to tell you the reason.
