Welcome to the Affinity forums @capellan2000!
I have no application on my machine that is able to open the file correctly. What would be the benefits of BMP3 over e.g. PNG?
EDIT: I found out, that Krita is open this type of file.

Interesting ... to pick up Walt's wording. With Show As List the assets look like they should be.

Do you know of any other programs or methods that I can open the EPS file in and convert to SVG preserving the layers?
Saving as AI (with PDF stream) or PDF preserves the layers. So if you do not have thousands of files this would be a way to go. And maybe you saved the PDF stream in your AI files unintentionally as this would mean an extra click to remove this option (at least on Windows).

Discombobulation - I had to search for this. Not a frequently used word I guess?

Thanks for the advice but I was deleting them via the Anchors Panel not in the text frames.
Maybe I was unclear. Having the text completely marked and using the keyboard shortcut repeatedly, one anchor after the other is deleted without further interaction. And for the rest ... glad I do not use bookmarks / hyperlinks often in my documents.

Exactly the same in this topic earlier.
And you read in this topic earlier?

QuotePlease note: AMD Radeon RX 5000 series and later cards are currently incompatible.

Plus: Right-clicking for the context menu those last 4 menu items are missing.
-
Assuming you are using Affinity Photo just select the View Tool and look top left.

I had to delete them one-by-one as I couldn’t find a way to select them all and delete.
There are not many locations in the Affinities where you can select multiple "items" and delete them in one go.
Option 1: Make a keyboard shortcut for Delete Anchor, mark the text in the text frame and hit the keyboard shortcut over and over again.
Option 2: Export as PDF with no bookmarks and open the PDF in APu.
Nothing really helpful for you I fear.

Seems like hardware acceleration was the culprit here.
Glad to hear this. Just weird, that it works for me even with HWA on. What graphic card are you using and more important, are all drivers up-to-date?

I'll experiment some more later.
I did this for you. First time I exported the document I had pure luck, that the squares were inside the white area. Exporting the document again showed the squares also for me.
Turning off the B&W adjustment showed me a strange effect on the Blur layer (see image), so I re-arranged the layers a bit and had no squares. Fixed document attached.

@BrianT No squares for me. What export preset did you use? Turning off hardware acceleration in Preferences >> Performance could be worth a try if not off already.

Is there any way to prevent that from happening?
You can change this in the Assistant, the icon which looks like a butler on the top toolbar. Change Adding filter layer to selection. If this was your question?

Repaired solely with Affinity Publisher / Photo. APu seems to have no problems with the missing data when placed.

however the code should really fall back and export those complex fill elements as a bitmap/pixel layer instead rather than fail altogether
I would like to disagree. The user made everything vector based and so the user expects vectors in the output. If there is something pushing Affinity to its limits or exceeding its limits, then there should be an understandable warning, pointing to the problem. Instead of simply saying "file could not be exported". I am not a programmer, but somewhere an error was catched in order to issue the warning, so is it impossible to tell why the export failed? Would this message be too technical? What about an error number like 111 (too complex gradient), 192 (image with wrong ICC profile) and a list where users can look up the cause?

The exported version has a little glitch on th right side of the circle.
Oops, I did not check the export, sorry. Maybe the attached version works now.
-
@OliverGVA This seems to be due to the complex gradient looking like a stylized S. How many stops did you add? I deleted a few, plus removing some extra layers (not necessary in my eyes).

Welcome to the Affinity forums @mkam!
Select the picture frame with Move tool and hit the Delete button.

EVERYTHING is exporting blurry

I DO NOT NOT NOT KNOW!!!!
A bit more information would be nice to get you a solution. What application are you using? What were your export settings? What DPI are you using. Exporting as a raster image can be tricky, if the image is not positioned pixel perfect or the image has dimensions like 500,25 x 1000,37834 px, just to name two pitfalls. Best case would be, if you upload a ZIP containing your Affinity document and what exported so far, so others can have a look as well.
