Step 1: Made two new documents, one preferred linking images and one preferred embedding images, saved = 1,71 MB
Step 2: Placed a linked EPS (1 MB) and saved = 5,76 MB
Step 3: Placed a embedded EPS (1 MB) and saved = 5,76 MB
Step 4: In Ressource Manager changed the EPS from embedded to linked and saved = 4,05 MB
Step 5: In Resource Manager changed from linked to embedded and saved = 4,05 MB, changing from embedded to linked an saved = 5,77 MB
Is it the file type? Or the buttons working wrong?

But it IS reproducible and the reason for this leaves me even uneasier. Attached you will find a PDF X3, generated by InDesign CS6 on Windows 8.1. There are now two test scenarios
Test scenario 1: Open the PDF with Publisher. Check the boxes for editable / grouped text if unchecked. Leave DPI for guess or change to 300 dpi. Resize the text frame now, click the overflow triangle and draw a new text frame. Result: Font size in new frame is smaller than expected.
Test scenario 2: Open the PDF with Publisher. Check the boxes for editable / grouped text if unchecked. Change DPI to 72 dpi. Resize the text frame now, click the overflow triangle and draw a new text frame. Result: Everything perfect.
Conclusion? Making tests which DPI is perfect for conversion / opening of PDF documents?

That is most certainly because you changed the size of the text frame on page 2 by using the outer handle that will resize fonts within the text frame proportionally.
Not in my case. I have no other choice how to create a text frame, when I click the red triangle indicating overflowing text from the text frame on page 2. I click the triangle and draw the text frame. How should I accidently resize the text frame with the wrong handle here? Try it yourself. The original file was a opened PDF with Publisher, copying text and pasting into new frames is a show stopper. I mean this document has 106 pages. And how can a text frame be corrupt?
Edit: thomaso is right, copying the text into a new frame works, but leaves me feeling uneasy.

This one is driving me mad. Maybe my fault. Perhaps someone can solve the riddle for me formatting two text frames with the same paragraph style? See attached file.
Step 1: Format the whole text on page 2 with paragraph style HB - 03 Fliesstext.
Step 2: With the overflowing text create a text frame on page 3. This text should also be formatted with HB - 03 Fliesstext.
Step 3: Now make the text frame on page 2 smaller in height and see what happens on page 3.
Even if you do not have the font Milo OT, you can use any other font, should make no difference. Good luck and TIA.

But when trying to "print" to PDF using the booklet formatting, the CMYK profile I selected doesn't seem to be taking effect -- the resulting PDF seems to still be RGB.
Could you post the Publisher file? So others could have a look as well. If doing so, what are your book formatting options, which "PDF printer" do you use, what is your colour profile?

Agree, in the meantime you can use assets for recurring objects.

MS Basic Optical Mouse 2.0 can move in any direction with just mouse scroll wheel pressed, but the limit are the edges of the window in contrast to the Pan tool where you can move without a limit.

What version are you using? It does not seem to be the latest beta of Affinity Publisher 1.7.0.312. Are you using Affinity Designer?

No criticsm, but still a workaround and not a solution.

No, this option you do not have is related to the document inside the picture frame. There are (normally) two ways inserting a PDF. Use the "Place Image Tool" from tools, then you have the options at once. Or you make a picture frame and then place the PDF inside. In this case with "Move" tool active have a look at the Layers panel (see image) and click the document layer.

Works for me. On your Windows folder options is the checkox "Hide known file extensions" checked? Don't know the correct translation for this.
-
It depends on how you place a document. In your case have a look at the Layers panel and select the layer with the document inside the Picture Frame layer. Done so, the context options should appear.

The 0-value bug for width and height of elements is still there in the latest beta. Create e.g. a rectangle, manually (handles) change the width (or height) to 0 and deselect the element. After that you can't change width (or height) anymore. If you want to change the width (or height) of the e.g. rectangle with the Transform panel to 0, the input will not be accepted.

Do not mix up context bar and tool bar. See image. Red marked is toolbar, which you can customise under menu View -> Customise Toolbar. The one marked in green is the context bar, which visibility you can only toggle on and off in Menu View. The context bar depends on the element you have selected. For picture frame you get the options for ... what else ... picture frame and for Placed Documents you get the context options for ... what else ... placed documents.

How could numbers fail a spell check? I would call this a bug. Even dirtier workaround: Do a complete spell-check learning from 00:00 up to 23:59

No problem here. Could you make some screenshots of your export settings?

I am not sure, but I believe, that fit-to-text-frame worked in previous versions. Double clicking the lower centre resize handle should fit the frame to text, but this will now give me the red overflow indicator. I tried this various fonts (Milo OT, Adobe Caslon Pro, Arial) with the same result. See attached image. There is always 0,1 - 0,2 mm missing in height.

I created two lines with arrow heads, merged the curves and clicked "Place arrow at the end of the line". The lower arrow head suddenly disappeared. See video.

Text Frames and Styles?(possibly)
You can use assets for this purpose. Design the text frames you want and add them to assets. Only problem is that some assets are barely visible when you not show them as list in Assets panel.

Hard to describe, so have a look at the image. I would like to see a (small) drag-handle for the light-grey area in the Navigator panel. Behaviour right now is, when you fail to click at the correct position in the light grey area representing the position on the page then there is always a small jump to a slightly different position and have to move around to your desired position. I hope this was somewhat clear?

Yes, you are right. I missed that. I must admit, that I never used the guides configuration so far. But a good suggestion.

Placing a pdf ad with bleeds

You can use the Crop tool to remove the bleed.
No, this can't be turned off. With the separate layers you can easily change visibility of items or the order ... Perhaps you can do more with the separate layers, than I found out for myself. On the other hand it can be confusing to have "many" layers. Like in my case placing old technical drawings easily having 50 layers or more. To make it less confusing I group these technical drawings.
