Unfortunately you have to do some extra work. To edit the placed Publisher document you have to double-click the placed element or pick Edit Document from the Context Toolbar. Better it would be without this extra step.

For 1. accepted
For 2. maybe my English is not good enough. If I recall it correctly a English keyboard has physical keys for [ and ] whereas on a German keyboard you have to use a key combination to get [ or ]. I just wanted to point out, that the shortcuts were not "translated" into German.

The document keeps the first title, normally the name of the file saved first. All other times you use save as the title stays - which is used for PDF export. But you can change this in Panel Fields under Document Information.

@ColinK What Operating System are you using? Here on Windows 10 with 2 monitors I do not have to resize panels. So this might be a problem / bug with either APhoto or graphics driver. What are the specifications of your machine? Maybe the developers have an idea where the problem comes from?

Affinity Photo is not the best tool for this task, I would go so far to say it would be the "worst" tool, better it would be with Affinity Designer, best it would be with Affinity Publisher. But this is just my opinion.
Here are some good videos to start with Publisher: https://affinity.serif.com/de/tutorials/publisher/desktop/

Don't know if these are really a bugs?
1. Selecting a paint brush or erase brush you'll get a preview of the size of this brush. When you change the brush to 4096px and have a zoom level of 51% or greater there are suddenly three centered circles. Of course I can imagine, that at a certain zoom level, the proper size preview of the brush can't be displayed anymore, so why should they displayed anyway (wrongly)?
2. On Windows the shortcuts for decreasing / increasing brush sizes are [ and ]. Hmm, I never get these shortcuts on a standard German keyboard. Normally you have the key combination Alt Gr+8 resp. Alt Gr+9 for getting the square brackets. So I think keyboard shortcuts are not "specifically adapted" to the language - in this case German.

15 minutes ago, Pauls said:
The layers panel is always displaying the current spread of the document
A slight correction from my side: If they are facing pages, both spreads content appear in the layer panel. I does not matter if you click on the right or left page in the pages panel. The view jumps to the selected page. Could be irritating if there are layers of both pages, especially when there are "hundreds" of layers.

Maybe you want to have a look first at my attached image? Sometimes it gets difficult for me to differentiate between all the Affinity applications. Often enough I pick a wrong panel which belongs to the other application. One should say, then switch to Dark UI or make them a bit darker, but for me a light UI is the best UI to work with. With the disadvantages of the light UI I can live. Maybe it would be a good option to colour at least the header of the panels to orange, pink and blue like in the icons for the applications.

When you reach a certain age, you want to save energy and time (time gets precious), so a direct insertion of text without strange formatting and without re-pasting would be nice.

But perhaps Paste Without Format could work for Streaming T and for you?

This was already reported several times.
I just wanted to giveit a bump in the hope that someone from Serif would answer if this is a bug or by design.

Thanks MEB for your answer. Possibly I did not mention the complete story. I placed the .afphoto two times in the document. One version should have the background also and the other version should be only the cut-out. Funny thing is, I did before as you told, but editing one image in the Photo Persona also changed the second placed image the same way. After your comment I tried again and it worked as it should be. Gremlins?

What bugs me, is the fact, that all layers of a placed image will not be shown in the Photo Persona. In my case I have placed an image with a tool with a background behind. Before in APhoto I made a curve to cut out the tool and saved it as .afphoto. If I now switch to the Photo Persona I get the tools for photo editing but the Layers panel is the same as in the Publisher Persona. I would be nice, if the corresponding layers panel would switch too. In Indesign you were able to select if a clipping path should be used or not. Something similar I am looking for in Publisher, so that I can use different versions of the same image.
Maybe someone has a good advice for me? TIA

Make a character style for the non-breaking words, when you are finished you can change the highlight colour to transparent. In one go you can mark the words as non-breaking and highlight them altogether.

Du meinst das Seiten-Panel? Ansicht -> Studio -> Seiten

Hmm, not very intuitive. At least this should be clearly described in the help section. But in the end I can live with this, once I know it.

Of course Wosven, thanks for your assistance.
1. Placing image.
2. Switching to Photo Persona.
3. Applying a small radial blur to the image.
4. Returning to Publisher Persona.
5. Export for print, no change in settings.
Files are attached.

Maybe I did not understood the concept of Live Filters. As an advertised feature during the presentation of Publisher I had the impression, that it is an easy-to-use feature. Perhaps I did something wrong, but the Live Filters are not working out-of-the-box in the sense of PDF export. Does not work in the latest stable or latest beta. The Live Filter is applied, but the effect does not appear in the exported PDF. I can rasterize the layers of course, but is this the right way? Looking into the help files give me no help.
Any advice or help or information?

Was this a question?
Tracing of bitmaps with Designer is currently not possible. But I think it is on the wishlist for Christmas.

... or if Affinity layers are saved with the TIFF.

? I am lost at this point.
Based on the assumption your document has 100 pages and you want an automatic page numbering on each page. And you want to have page 1 look the numbering like 1 of 100 and on page 100 the numbering look like 100 of 100.
Go to the master which must be applied to all 100 pages. Insert a text field. Next action is Menu Text -> Insert -> Fields -> Page Number. Next type the " of " into the text field. Make panel Fields visible. Double click on Total Pages under Document Statistics and you are finished. If you now add 5 pages at the end of your document (having the master page applied) and save the document on the last page now 1 of 105 will be displayed.
If this is not working, something is really wrong with your document.

Maybe this is what you are looking for in the meantime?

bring together two publisher documents

Nobody would expect this and it is good to have a fresh view on old habits, BUT some functions like adding pages from other documents should be done easier like it is at the moment. Think about adding 50 Publisher pages to an existing Publisher document. Adding 50 pages and on every page adding the document and selecting the correct page? To edit an additional page, being redirect to another tab? Not really an argument for switching over to Publisher.
