I have never doubted, that there are different approaches. So do me a favour and solve this riddle for me and I would love to have a simple solution. 1. Create a rectangle, move the transformation origin to the right middle handle. 2. Flip the rectangle horizontally. Desired result: Rectangle flippled around the right middle handle. In ID CS 6 two clicks away.

Maybe you should rethink if this by design-decision makes sense. Naturally in such a complex application there are functions which can be used from different locations, but it is irritating if a certain function is behaving differently in different places.

Not the whole story. According to the menu Layer -> Transform -> Every action in here ... Serif called it a transformation. But these actions from the menu do not work as expected with the Point Transform Tool.

Affinity Publisher - large file sizes
Joachim_L replied to Fordy's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
@Bryce There are at least 11 images used not 10. This file size is huge indeed and I never had this happen with JPG placed. Try a Save As (without History saving) with a new name or zip document and images and post here If possible. I guess Serif would be interested in this file, because this is not normal. -
Soft hyphen behaves like No Break?
Joachim_L replied to Joachim_L's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Hi thomaso, thx for your reply, but your hyphenation settings are identical to mine. Attached a file, where you can try it yourself. Font is Milo OT. softhyphen.afpub -
I would not call it a bug and I guess there is a setting I forgot. Sometimes adding a soft hyphen makes an already autmatically hyphenated word act like I defined a No Break for this word. In the attached image (lower image) I would like to add a soft hyphen inside the word Luftschlitze right after the t (I know that this word would never be hyphenated there, just for giving an example). After adding the soft hyphen the complete word Luftschlitze moves to the next line as if there was never an automatic hyphenation after Luft. Is there something I can do to prevent this? I use the Hyphenation defaults in the panel, the Language is set to German and Luftschlitze is part of the dictionary.

I am not sure what your problem is? a) Do your images are placed right at the edge of the page border? If this is the case, I would recommend that parts of the image would cover the whole bleed are. Normally 3 mm are enough. b) If your images are not placed at the edge of a page order, you do not need the images to cover the bleed area. But maybe I did not get your point here, so a screenshot of the page would be helpful.

Export to PDF
Joachim_L replied to Tarthur's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Are the image linked or embedded? Are the images missing from Ressource Manager? What file types are the missing images? Without the Publisher file hard to tell and more guessing. -
The Master Pages were wrong assigned to the pages. Left Master for a right page and so on. You have to be careful when assigning the Master. You can drag a single Master or drag a facing Master onto your pages. You will see a blue frame around the pages when selecting/dragging/hovering spreads to give you an impression where which Master will be assigned to.

I want to add one more point to the list. g) Shared dictionaries. I have all three applications installed on my PC and every application comes along with its own dictionary files. In total not much space, but on installation there are common folders created, why not use them? Apart from this, where are the learned words saved? Something which is also not shared. If I train Publisher to learn a certain word, this word is still unknown in Designer and Photo.

I have no problem if there is no warning, because I made the frame so small/smaller on purpose. Just the frame jumping was irritating. Originally the text was 5pt, which made it hard to locate while hiding on a black background. As a sidenote: If you deselect the text frame and try to select it again, you even can't type in the width and height with the Transform panel.

Setup like this: 1. Type a one-liner in a text frame 2. Set top margin inset to 2 mm 3. Set height of text frame to 1,9 mm - overflow visible or not makes no difference Correction: Overflow has to be visible Result 1: No overflow warning 4. Click the top or bottom centered handle of text frame. Normally used to fit the frame to adapt to the height of the text Result 2: The text frame jumps to the upper left corner of the page, every single character (except spaces) is aligned vertically, all values for this text frame in the Transform panel have the value 0 (changing height or width do not change anything) jumping-frame.afpub
