    Welcome to the forums!
You can check out this thread which is a feature request for the tool, but also contains many alternatives of how to achieve the same effect without the specific tool. Hope this helps

    Thanks Dan,
Very disappointing! So I will have to revert to what I have been doing for years - scan direct into PhotoPlus then move the result to Affinity!!! I might just as well do my simple editing requirements whilst already in PhotoPlus!
A couple of days ago my first posting here was about doing 'Cut-outs' in Affinity. I know I have a steep learning curve ahead, but in PhotoPlus the 'Cut Out Studio'  was/is almost automatic to use - in Affinity - whilst I appreciate the many advanced facilities available - getting quick results seems to be much harder.
Me thinks I had better sit down with a cup of strong coffee . . .
    Thanks again. Pete.

There are several utilities that work very well with Photo.
I use and can highly recommend Faststone Image Viewer (free for non-commercial use). It scans directly and can be set to launch the scanned image directly into Photo, with a shortcut. For scanning, there is effectively no difference from a typical image editor opening a TWAIN panel but there are many other benefits, like basic cropping and editing plus screengrab and DAM. Although not yet Affinity native format.

    Another one is Vuescan

Using the Dodge and burn on a mask layer is handy when using to affect only shadows, midtones or highlights. Eg. Dodging a lighter sky through a dark tree.

Dan C reacted to Alfred in [AP] Properly import a PDF that uses missing fonts possible?
In a word, no. The Affinity apps cannot yet interpret fonts embedded in a PDF file, so they have no way of knowing what the text should look like unless the fonts are installed on your system.

It's because they're using a 'Tools Bar' with two columns instead of a single column.
If you go to View > Customise Tools > and change 'Number of Columns' at the bottom to '2', the foreground/background colour selector will appear in the Tools Bar.

Dan C reacted to firstdefence in How to delete Text correction underscore
That underscoring is telling you the app thinks the word is spelt incorrectly or it doesn't understand the word, generally this shouldn't happen on web addresses. Go to Text > Spelling and untick Check Spelling While Typing and the underscoring will go away. You can also right click on that web address and choose Learn Spelling and the next time you type that address it will ignore it. If you do untick Check Spelling While Typing you will have to manually check spelling if thats what you need.

Dan C reacted to gdenby in drawing a plan of an virtual tour constellation
    Hi, Hubas,
The Affinity suite makes vector objects by a series of co-ordinates from the 1st to the last. That series of co-ordinates may then be given "fill" and "stroke" attributes. So many people mis-take using the pen tool as something that can create a network of lines, when in fact it allows on to make a series of geometric shapes that may share the same space, but do not connect logically. "Pen" is just a convenient term, but is better called "bezier curve node maker."
In short, and as you experienced, one can only draw an outline, and branches from that cannot happen, and the outline cannot be closed, except by joining w. the first point.
I didn't notice you mentioned using Photo, so opened your file in Designer, which is what mostly use. It has features that are better suited for schematic renderings. The attached file can open in Photo.
1st, I used the pen tool in polygon mode, with it set to no fill and a solid stroke. I traced over your example from view points 1 thru 28. I then made separate lines for the extensions and pass thru connection on the tour. All were grouped on a single layer.
I then drew an Ellipse, and duplicated it by command dragging it to each waypoint. These I also placed on its own layer above the line path. If you were using Designer, the circles could be made into symbols, and have color and shape changes applied all together, making design changes so much easier.
I then duplicated the line layer, selected all the lines. I used the menu command "Layer, Expand Stroke." That turned all the strokes to polygon shapes. I then did a geometric add for all of them, which makes a networked shape that has adjustable attributes of its own
    Hope this helps.

    No problem at all

I've found a slight workaround, if you need this workflow in the future.
If you export the .psd from Affinity Photo iPad, open in it Photoshop Mac and simply save it as a new .psd file (ensuring maximise compatible is checked) then it will open as expected on Procreate. I understand it adds an extra step, but I have so found it to work on my test files!

Dan C got a reaction from 276ccm in Affinity Photo/Procreate .psd problems
I've managed to re-create this issue, creating a .psd on Affinity Photo Mac brings up an error on import to Procreate rather than a crash so I suspect this to be related. I'll have this raised with our dev team straight away, thanks for letting us know!

Interestingly enough, an image opened in Affinity Photo (iPad) without any edits will export and open fine in Procreate, as soon as any object or filter is added, it crashes on import.

    Hi YAR Oracppl,
    Welcome to the forums

I'm sorry to hear your camera isn't yet supported, our devs work hard to update the supported cameras as often as possible, but unfortunately I can't provide a timeframe on when this may be.
You certainly can use TIFF format in the meantime, just bare in mind that your photos will have no automatic corrections applied to them when importing.
You're welcome to give our free 10 day trail a go!
