I have no idea how there could be anything in the badged folder with that name other than .afdesign files that would always open from iCloud Drive in Affinity Designer.

Me neither currently! Equally as strange is that one .afdesign file is marked as an Affinity Designer Document under Kind in the video, and the other is marked as an Affinity Openable. I'm more of a Windows man myself, have you seen this before in MacOS?

  2. Hi gregspiral :)

I've never seen anything quite like in your screen recording with our files, I'll certainly keep an eye out for this with the Publisher beta and if I can replicate the issue I'll make sure our dev team are aware.

In the meantime, you can right click on an .afdesign file, select Open With > Other... then choose Affinity Designer from the list and select Always Open With at the bottom of the window. Hopefully this will fix your defaulting program!

Select (in the finder) an Affinity Designer file and get info. Where it says Open With select Affinity Designer and then hit the little Change All... button.

Unfortunately this isn't possible for them, as in the provided video the Mac Apps list isn't allowing him to select Affinity Designer before selecting Change All!

  3. I wasn't aware of this, but I've done some research and it certainly does seem to be the case. We can't replicate this on our build here, but it appears to only be affecting some users.

Could you please try following the suggestions at the following link? Hopefully this should resolve the issue :)

  4. Thanks for that info, unfortunately the Fujifilm X-A10 isn't compatible with Serif Labs RAW engine, however it is compatible with the Apple Core RAW engine which can be implemented by Affinity.

You can switch between RAW Engines by first opening an image then going to menu View > Assistant Manager > Develop Assistant and changing the engine from the drop down. (you have to reload the image again for the new setting take effect). I hope this helps!

  5. Thanks for that :)

I've created the following using the overlay paint tool in the Develop Persona, set to 100% hardness with edge detection on and then dropping the exposure level of the sky area painted.

This still created some white haloing, and I much prefer the workflow in the Photo Persona for this style of editing.

I used the smart selection brush to select the sky area, then duplicated this pixel area. I then inverted the selection and repeated the duplication, so I have 3 pixel layers total, the main image, a sky layer and a land layer.

With the main background image at the bottom of the stack, I set both the ground layer and sky layer to Multiply blend mode, changing the opacity of the ground layer to 50%, producing the following result:

I've attached a copy of the .afphoto file with history so you can pan back through my document to see this in action. (Ignore the adjustment layers created and deleted, I was playing around to see what produced the best result :D)

  6. Snapshots are used with the undo brush to paint in early versions of the documents pixels, for example using the burn brush tool changes the images pixels, so if you select a snapshot (the camera icon) in the history panel and then use the undo brush, it will revert the pixels in the image to before the tool was used, without undoing all of the pixel change. I've created a quick screen recording showing this in action-

  7. Thanks for that! This is caused by the 2 pixel layers with 'Soft Light' blend mode set, we're aware of a bug currently where this does not display correctly in 32bit and produces these export anomalies.

Rather than converting the document to 16bit, I changed the 2 layers to 'Normal' blend mode and set them to 22% opacity, which gave me a very similar look as the Soft Light blend mode and then the document exported without the colour noise -

I'll pass your file through to our devs against the outstanding bug report and hopefully it will be fixed shortly. I've also included the edited file below for you :)

  8. Thanks for that, I've exported your file using the above settings on both Windows and Mac and I'm not seeing the same results, I've provided a copy of the JPEG in the zip file attached.

Please open 'More' settings under the export dialog and then set the Pixel Format drop down list to RGB 8-bit and then try exporting again. Do you see the same issue?
