No problem at all, I've downloaded and installed the trial version of Spine and I unfortunately can't replicate your PNG issues. I've exported 2 pngs from the iPad version of Affinity Photo, and 1 from the desktop, all at varying sizes and DPI. Each image has imported successfully with transparency, although it does appear that partial transparency is not compatible, which can cause a 'glow' around the image. As can be seen below, each of the PNGs are correctly transparent, all exports were done using the PNG24 preset. Could you possibly provide your Affinity file, or your PNGs to the following link, so I can test these directly? https://www.dropbox.com/request/hvuPi9TSlD5j2y3okBQr

Hi lauren79859, Welcome to the forums Sorry to see this! Please try the following, as to not lose any work. In the open document you're trying to save, go to View>Studios>Snapshots. In the Snapshots studio that opens in the bottom right, select the camera icon with a + next to it, to add a new snapshot. There's no need to name this snapshot, simply leave the name as default (date and time) and click Ok. Now, select the snapshot you've just created and click the New Document from Snapshot (blank page) icon in the top right corner of the studio. This should create a new document with the same objects and layers in your original document, but is different from copying and pasting layers. Can this newly created document be saved? I've created a quick video below showing the snapshot procedure. Snapshot for new document.mp4

Bug? color wheel not responding
Dan C replied to jefferis's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Hi jefferis I can see your stroke opacity is set to 0%, changing this should allow you to see your stroke colour! -
Hi FrankWitsel, Welcome to the forums You'll need to open the JPEG image in Affinity and remove the areas you wish to be transparent, then go to File>Export and select PNG here. Using the PNG24 preset will ensure your transparency is retained when exporting. Without a sample image however we can only offer so much advice!

Hi PhotoMoo, Welcome to the forums Looking at your crash log, there is an 'exception type' which shows why the program crashed; EXC_BAD_ACCESS means the application tried to access something that either has moved, is missing or is no longer accessible. Have you recently updated your OSx version? I'm glad to hear you have solved this issue, however this does indicate there may be an problem with your Apple RAW engine, or Affinitys integration with this. Can you view the image correctly in Apple Photos, or Preview?

Hi Ballyshannon Unfortunately there's no tool or standard way of doing this in Affinity currently. Arrow heads (and therefore likely dot ends) are on our Designer Roadmap to be added in the future. Hopefully this will be sooner rather than later, but we have no eta for this at this time, apologies. You may find that creating an asset helps your workflow, but you will still have to use individual objects for each line if you're not happy using a created vector brush.

Workbook Exercise
Dan C replied to Bigwillt's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi Bigwillt, Welcome to the forums When refining a selection and changing the output to New Layer with Mask, any adjustments you wish to make must be nested within the new layer and mask, if you only wish it to affect the previously selected area. After refining your selection, leave the output on Selection and select apply. You should now see the 'marching ants' selection over your image. If you create a new adjustment layer with this selection active, a mask will be automatically created so that the adjustment only affects the selected area, I hope this helps! -
Hi Ippokratis When exporting a PNG, please make sure the Matte option remains unchecked, this will ensure your transparency is retained. I've exported an image using the PNG24 preset, and the transparency is retained when saved to my Photos library. Unfortunately I don't have Spine to test the image there, however I've included a screen recording showing the image and export below, along with the PNG I've exported for you to test. Developer persona brush and erase performance
Dan C replied to iband's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Hi iband Thanks for your report, I can replicate the issues you're having here and will log them with our developers now. It appears to be an issue caused by setting a small brush size, hopefully this will be fixed in the next update. If it helps for the time being, you can set the opacity of the brush layer in the develop persona. I appreciate this is not quite the same, but may help with your workflow for now!- 2 replies

No problem at all, I've tried following this workflow using your provided file and at 100% zoom level in Affinity Photo I can see a very faint white line, however I exported the file as a JPEG and the line is not visible. I believe this is a rendering choice with embedded documents, but this shouldn't show on export

Affinity Photo on iPad wasting disk space?
Dan C replied to Jethro's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Hi Jethro Sorry to see this, our developers are currently investigating a few reports similar to this to improve Affinitys storage management in a future update. In the meantime, could you please open Files and navigate to your iCloud folder where the .afphoto files are stored. Click and hold one of these files, then drag and drop it into Affinity Photo to open the file. We're a little unsure of the reason, but after closing all open files and then opening a file by dragging and dropping, this should clear out any saved cache and change the reported Documents & Data amount in your ipads settings for the app. Could you please try this and let me know if it helps? -
No problem at all! That's correct, when we release the retail version of 1.7 your store version will upgrade. Very occasionally we end the beta cycle before releasing the retail version, but this isn't a regular occurance. We absolutely try to make this possible, but as it's a beta we can never guarantee it. If at any time during the beta cycle we change or add major features, this can affect our file serialisation and then the files would not open. This isn't something we're planning, or will definitely happen during the beta cycle, but as we can't guarantee it not happening we always recommend that the beta is not used for any critical or production work at this stage. If everything goes to plan however, this should be possible! When opening 1.6 files in the 1.7 beta, it will ask if you'd like to make a copy of the file, so that your original file is unaffected and can always be edited in your store version Only if you also download and install the Photo beta, as the serialisation is different between the retail and beta version, File > Edit in... won't work from a retail build to a beta build, but does work between betas!

Hi missgator, Welcome to the forums Do you have any colour profile set for your monitor within your OS settings? Please open Affinity Photo, Edit>Preferences>Performance and provide me with a screenshot of your settings. Navigate back and select Colour, then screenshot these settings for me also please!

Thanks for the further information and your test files Richard, this is more than appreciated. I've looked through our development log and this is a previously known issue in regards to artboards and bleed. The good news is that is has been fixed for 1.7, and is available now in our current beta! I've opened your test file in the beta and used the export options provided in your first screenshot (including bleed) and the PDF is exported correctly. You can download the beta from here, this should allow you to export your file without having to change any settings or artboard spacings

Dan C replied to asan's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Thanks for the file. Unfortunately it won't open in Adobe Illustrator either, when attempting to open the file I receive the following error: It appears as though this file is corrupted, as it cannot be opened in either program, with or without the (Coverted)-2 string after the file extension. I'd recommend contacting whoever supplied the file to you to fix this. -
Hi rnbutler87, Welcome to the forums As standard, Artboards should act in the way you require, any objects should only export to the artboard (and therefore PDF page) that they're on in the document. I created a test file, with an object on each artboard that overlaps onto the next and then exported to PDF (for export) and as you can see the objects remain on their artboards- Could you please provide the test file that you've used to create the attached PDF, and a screenshot of your export settings, including the More section?

File>Open should be no issue. Thanks for your screenshot, could you please provide me with the fh9 to the following link? https://www.dropbox.com/request/DNjnZ5zbmpgBk81jFtvH I note that .fh9 is followed by a (Converted)-2 caveat. How has this file been converted please? -

Liquify Push Forward Tool Delay
Dan C replied to iband's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Hi iband, Welcome to the forums I've been testing the push forward tool on a RAW image using an Apple Pencil, and although I have noticed a slight delay of the image redrawing after applying a stroke I can't replicate the distortion not being applied. Could you possibly provide a screen recording of this for me? In Affinity Photo under Settings>General you can turn on 'Show Touches' to allow me to see your pencil strokes.- 2 replies
