AD2.2.0 Time zone issue?
Dan C replied to Sid J's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Thanks for your report @Sid J & the further testing conducted by other members in this thread! I can confirm this appears to be a macOS Sonoma only issue, as I cannot replicate this on Ventura, but I'm seeing the same issue on our M1 Sonoma MBP. Therefore I'm getting this logged with our development team now. I hope this helps -
It's hard to be certain without seeing the same information you are referring to, but these files may contain 'Live Docs' that have not yet been manually saved to your iPad, alongside application data, such as saved Presets, Assets, Brushes etc. 'Safely Deleted' is somewhat of a personal user choice in this regard - the app will likely continue to function correctly if you were to delete these files, but you may lose these documents and custom data, as outlined above. We don't directly recommend deleting these files unless absolutely necessary, as the data will be unrecoverable after deletion. I'm unsure what you mean by 'Affinity Photo app directory' - if you are referring to the Affinity Photo folder created on your iPad by the app, then yes the app saves temporary documents, autosave files and user data outside of this 'Affinity Photo' folder, but this is still contained within the 'Sandbox' of the Affinity app. These additional locations that the Affinity iPad apps can access/save to, outside of the 'Affinity Photo' folder within Files are not something that a user can typically access on iPad, as Apple choose to keep this section of the OS locked down. As above we don't recommend deleting or interfering with this data manually.

You can use the Snapping options in Affinity to ensure the Rectangle aligns with the Artboard, as shown below - 2023-10-11 10-49-49.mp4 I hope this helps

Thanks for your files provided here @markw and the investigative work conducted by other members in this thread I've been able to replicate this here, both with Marks files and in a new document - it appears to simply be the presence of the Gaussian Blur layer and only seems to affect PDF export. I'm getting this logged with our development team now, as I cannot see any previous reports of this specific issue. I hope this helps!

Hi @chris51, Welcome to the Affinity Forums This will either depend on your PDF export settings, or Import settings within Affinity Publisher. When exporting to PDF, please double check your current settings under the 'More...' dialog, specifically the Embed Fonts option, as if this is set to 'Text as Curves', you will see the behaviour shown in your screenshot above - Equally, when importing your PDF I recommend enabling the 2 options highlighted below, as this will allow the Affinity app to attempt to import your PDF text as editable - I hope this helps!

Text tracking slider malfunctioning in Affinity Designer 2
Dan C replied to dimasddim's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Hi @dimasddim, Thanks for your report! I have tested this here using Windows 10 and I'm not seeing the same issue - either with Artistic or Text Frame text objects, I'm able to click and drag to adjust the Tracking value, both with the text selected or with the text caret simply placed in the object. Though I do find that if the text caret is placed after the end of the word, adjusting the tracking value does not change the appearance of the text: 2023-10-10 16-42-37.mp4 However I cannot see a text caret present in your initial video, so I'm not 100% certain if this was the behaviour you were experiencing - though it could explain the reason it now appears to be working for you. If you are able to create a new document in Designer that replicates this issue again, please save the file and upload it here so that we can test further -
Hi @RichardMH, Thanks for your report! I can confirm I've replicated this issue here, it appears to occur with the following 4 blend modes, when using the Gradient Map Adjustment - Vivid Light Colour Burn Hard Mix Reflect Therefore I have logged this with our development team now. Interestingly it does not seem to occur if the Mask layer is not nested within the Adjustment layer, or if you use the Mask built into the Adjustment layer itself. I hope this helps

Apologies, I had overlooked the Appearance Studio - I'm getting this logged as a bug with our team now as not only should the stroke not render, this shouldn't cause the Artboard not to export. I'd personally recommend using the Rectangle method shown in my file, as this will be retained as a vector object when exporting to supported formats, my apologies for any inconveniences caused due to the missing support for Strokes on Artboards at this time!
-
Hi @AdroitAndroid, Welcome to the Affinity Forums I can confirm this isn't a bug in the Affinity applications, simply this behaviour is not currently support - my apologies. I'll move this thread to the Feedback section of our Forums, for our devs to see and consider adding support for this feature in a future update. I hope this helps!

Hi @mmmmm, Welcome to the Affinity Forums Thanks for your file provided! This is certainly a strange issue, as I can see your Artboard has a 'Stroke' applied around it - which is not technically supported with Artboard objects. If you create a new artboard, fill it with the same colour, copy and paste the Curve layer nested within and this new artboard will export as expected. If you then add a Stroke to this new artboard, the stroke will not be visible, but the Artboard will still export. However If I select the original Artboard 3 and copy this, then use Paste Style on the new Artboard 4 I have created, this also now fails to export. This indicates the application is failing to account for the Stoke property, causing the artboard not to export - however I'm yet to identify the exact reason this artboard is displaying a stroke, as mentioned above this should not be possible. Can you please confirm for me, how was this Artboard created? Have you copied and pasted this artboard from another file? Or did you create this using the Artboard tool, within Designer? In the meantime, I've created a new Artboard in your document and recreated the same visual appearance, using a transparent Rectangle within the Artboard to apply a stroke around the Artboard. This document can be found below and will export as expected - export_problem_F.afdesign I hope this helps!

After upgrading to 2.2.0, font selection is very laggy.
Dan C replied to liumingming's topic in V2 Bugs found on iPad
Unfortunately this issue is still logged with our development team currently, though it is being actively investigated. From my understanding, it appears that iPadOS 17 has changed the way applications interact with installed fonts and therefore this is not a straightforward fix and requires further consideration and testing my our team. Our team are working to resolve this as soon as possible, but I'm unable to provide an active timescale for a fix at this time, my apologies. -
Welcome to the Affinity Forums @jtnelson Can you please confirm for me, are you opening an .afpackage or .afpub file within Publisher please? By default, an .afpackage file will be generated with additional folders by the app, containing all of the images/fonts used within a document - allowing you to open the full project on a machine that does not have these fonts available. However an .afpub document does not include any externally installed fonts or linked images, meaning they will show as 'Missing' when opening this document on a different device, if the fonts are not already installed on your OS. You can find out more about Packaging in Publisher here - About Packaging Creating Packages Opening Packages

Thanks for the further information provided, I certainly understand. Affinity does not have the ability to delete or remove Folders created in Explorer without manual intervention, it's technically possible for the application to fail to save a singular file that has been opened for editing, but as far as I'm aware, it's simply not possible for the Affinity app to delete an entire folder - as the application does not have the required permissions on your system to do this when editing/saving images. I would recommend running external checks on your computer if you are finding full Folders are being deleted, as I do not believe this is caused by the Affinity app from the description provided. I hope this clears things up!

Hi @Raz_Mc, Welcome to the Affinity Forums I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this, as the tutorial you've linked seems to use the Curves Adjustment and no 'colour gradient', as far as I can see. Equally, the Curves Adjustment will differ in algorithms and supported features between Affinity and Photoshop and therefore it's expected that the results may differ when using this tool in each app.

Some paths not printing
Dan C replied to Mr-914's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Thanks for confirming - I've updated the development log to include this info -
Hi @charactersword, Thanks for your report! I believe there are a few bugs you've identified in this post, so I have split my findings below: Alt + Click on a new brush to keep your current brush width I can confirm that I've replicated this issue here on both macOS and Windows and is not related to any custom keyboard shortcuts, either set in 2.0.4, 2.1.1 or 2.2.0. It simply appears this functionality has been broken in 2.2.0 and therefore I have logged this with our development team to be resolved ASAP. Assigning Shift + number key in 2.1.1 does not assign new shortcuts when updating Equally, I have been able to replicate this behaviour here, when setting Shift + number key to a shortcut in 2.1.1, then updating to 2.2.0, the shortcuts for Brush Hardness etc are not set. You can resolve this by selecting 'Reset', however this will of course lose any custom keyboard shortcuts you have set. I have logged this as a bug with our development team. Updating to 2.2.0 with Shift + number key shortcut set overwrites shortcut set I'm not 100% of the exact meaning behind 'overwrites' in your post, however I have found the following behaviour: In 2.1.1, set any keyboard shortcut to use Shift + number key Update to 2.2.0 Under Settings > Shortcuts the Shift + number key shortcut is still listed With any tool that is not a brush tool selected, use the assigned Shift + number key shortcut ⚠ The shortcut fails to function With a brush tool selected, use any Shift + number key shortcut ✔ The shortcut changes the brush flow as expected, but does not trigger the associated function set under Settings > Shortcuts. As I understand it, the Shift + number key shortcuts are now reserved for use by the Affinity app and therefore can no longer be used for custom shortcuts for other functionality. However, the user is not informed of this change in-app and the shortcuts appear to still be valid under Settings > Shortcuts. Therefore, I have logged the following with our devs for this issue: When updating, if we implement new reservation shortcuts that may have been previously assigned by the user, we should scan the users shortcuts and inform them if any will be lost due to the new changes. Any reservation shortcuts, such as Shift +1, should not be allowed under Settings > Shortcuts and should inform the user of the conflict. I hope this helps!

Hi @AdrianW, Welcome to the Affinity Forums As I understand it, this is expected behaviour of the Affinity apps and currently there is no way to change this behaviour, my apologies. However I will move this thread to the Feedback section of the Forums for our team to see and consider adding this option in a future update. I hope this helps!

Some paths not printing
Dan C replied to Mr-914's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
No problem at all! Unfortunately I'm not seeing this behaviour here, both on macOS and Windows with 'Copy items as SVG' enabled or disabled - I'm able to Copy, Paste and Duplicate the Curves using the Edit menu options or the relevant keyboard shortcuts. However the copied/duplicated objects are displaying the same issue when exporting to vector formats. Am I misunderstanding your report, or are you completely unable to duplicate these layers currently? -
Hi @Lon, Welcome to the Affinity Forums To expand on the above, as the Affinity apps use a shared document format between Affinity Photo, Designer and Publisher - although each app uses a different file extension (.afphoto, .afdesign & .afpub respectively) these are completely interchangeable - meaning you can open and Affinity document in any Affinity app, even if it doesn't 'match' it's namesake, or you can actually rename an '.afphoto' file to '.afdesign' and it would retain all of it's data and still be openable within any Affinity app. For this reason we're unable to categorise the file format as an 'Image', as this would then also affect .afpub or .afdesign files that don't necessarily contain any images, and this would cause confusion for part of our userbase. Therefore any of the Affinity file formats are simply sorted under 'Other'. I hope this clears things up!

A bug in gradient?
Dan C replied to Gianni Becattini's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi @Gianni Becattini, Thanks for your report! I can confirm that I've replicated this behaviour here and have logged it with our team - as I can see the Midpoint control directly on the canvas is limited to 5% - 95% in order to avoid the controls overlapping and one becoming inaccessible. I hope this helps -
Hi @s5b, As Garry mentions, the Vector Warp functionality in Designer can be found under Layer > Warp - you can find out more about this functionality here: Warping Objects The above is not true however, as Affinity Designer version 2.1 added this functionality through the Pixel Persona, under Layer > New Live Filter Layer. You can now find both Perspective & Mesh Warp Filter layers for warping Pixel content in Designer under this menu, which is covered further below: Live Mesh Warp I hope this helps
