i am repeating what you show. but i do not get separated component  i’m getting a shape. what am i doing wrong? i think that i folowd you video exactly (beside changing colors)
ok ok i got it  long press on the boolean. that’s the "alt" on the desktop .

Not really. When you choose a colour, it only takes into account its luminance/lightness and ignores the colour. 

Might be useful to pick out a few tutorials to get yourself familiarised with the app:

Now that you mention it I definitely notice they switched. But not following. When I press the arrow to manually switch one the other switches for the other tool. So if it is white for eye dropper and I switch it to black. Then when I go back to the brush tool it is now the opposite color.

Aww fudge I see there is a difference between touching the little tool switcher and the colors. Thanks @GabrielM if you hadn't pointed that out I don't think I would have found that out playing around unless I hit it by accident. I think that was my biggest pet peeve. This will definitely make AP/AD more usable for me!

You do not have the same colour palette selected on both tools. When you use the Colour Pick tool, you have the "right" circle as your foreground colour. 
When you switch to the brush tool you have the "left" circle as the foreground colour.  . Choose either left or right for both tools and they will work properly

Crop to Opaque can be found in the context toolbar menu in the Panorama screen after you select the crop tool in the left-hand toolbar
If you do not see the context toolbar select View > Show Context Toolbar
Document > Clip Canvas,  is similar but not the same
 

Have you tried typing in 200% in the Size fields or any other percentage value?

I've been working on how to create book covers that imitate those of the pulpy paperbacks of years past. The idea was to work on a method that others could use as a viable - and so necessarily cheap - option for the self and Indie publishing market. I had been making do with an old version of Photoshop Elements that came with my Bamboo Fun & Touch tablet but decided to take the plunge and try Affinity Photo when I got a new computer, and that turned out to be a very good decision.
So... I start off in a program nobody likes to mention - Poser. I'm not too fussy about render settings as so much is changed in post, what matters is the figure, the posing, and the lighting. The result is then opened in Affinity Photo, where I start with some adjustment layers (highlights/shadows, brightness/contrast, colour balance), along with a plug-in from Topaz called Simplicity. This result is then saved out and opened up in a paint program called Art Rage and then attacked with an oil brush and knife to leave me with a faux painting.
In Affinity Photo, I've been building some book cover templates and the faux painting is introduced there, with some wear and tear added for a display version. The two designs I've posted here were both based on Mike Shayne covers (the first is one I've seen copied by other publishers, the second is a bit of a classic - enough for someone to have created a font based on it).
For very simple designs like this - ie a single figure with one or two props, and also assuming a cover design template is used, then the production time can be between 2-3hrs. I believe that someone more skilled than myself can probably do both a better job of it and at a faster time but even at my speed, I think this could mean a low enough cost for the target market. I don't think I'm ever going to be sufficiently happy with my own efforts to enter that market myself (or, to be honest, with enough free time), so I would like to encourage others to have a go themselves.

This only works in Affinity Designer. The brush in Affinity Photo is destructive If you're using photo you can create a mask and paint with black/white/gray.

Applying a Colour Dodge to a black anything on a dark blue background would hide the black logo not turn it pale blue, It would if it was a shade of grey?
Can you link to a screenshot of affinity showing the Layers Panel and the blend mode of the black logo? 

Thank you Gabe.  The "trouble" (not quite the right word) is that I like the way Photos helps store, index and find my source images as well as making collections (potrfolios/projects/events/people etc.....) but their editing facilities are basic and nowhere as good as the range of tools in Affinity.
My ideal is a combination of the two into a single workflow that makes the most of both.  I'll try and work out a process.

Only you can tell how steep the curve as it really depends on how fast you learn new things. The Affinity suite is a completely redesigned software. The best way to test it would give our trial a go:

Hi, I go to Document, Canvas and I activate Transparent Canvas; in this way, it saves/exports as PNG with transparent background

Undo and redo buttons have been closed by default and replaced by touch gestures, 2 fingers undo, 3 fingers redo, similar to affinity designer; if you want the initial buttons instead, I see that they can be reactivated in settings, interface, show undo and redo buttons

Welcome to the forums. 
First, expand all the curves. Next, select all the shapes and choose "Divide"  or go to layer Layer > Geometry Divide. Next, delete the shapes you do not need, select all the remaining shapes and press Add.
