  1. +1 for scripting support.

Not only within the application, but especially outside the application.

I'm a bit flustered by the discussion on the programming language. I've done some automation of Microsoft Office. Yes, inside Office you can use VBA, but outside Office you can use almost any language.
You can use PowerShell, VBScripting, VB, C#, Python.  I don't know what the technical terms are to describe that sort of implementation, but that is what I want!

My main use case would be to fill/expand a Publisher template with my specific data.

If a single language would need to be chosen, I would have a personal preference of Python over JavaScript.

  2. Was just wondering the same question.

I'm just a small freelance IT consultant who wants to have a training brochure made in Affinity Publisher. It would take me a lot of time to create this and - lets's be honest - it would not look as good as what a professional can make. Similar to Darie the pricing of Adobe made me buy licenses for the full Affinity suite. However, freelance designer/artists/... I can find on the internet in my area typically use Adobe suite.

Maybe this board can be expanded with a "find a freelancer" section for assignments. Perhaps with a rating system?

(If there are any designer willing to design a training brochure for me in Affinity Publisher, feel free to contact me!)

  3. Hi,

I'm very new to the Affinity tools and to graphics design.  For several of my trainings  I want to make an overview of subjects covered, like for example this grid:

I could make it myself in Excel, but this is quite bland and not in the colors of my preference

I would like to be able to create such a grid, with colors of my choice and with some nice effects that make it look nicer.

However, I have absolutely no idea on how to start that.  Can sombody elaborate which steps I would need to investigate and learn to be able to create a nice grid?
