  1. Thank you. Just a little more info. I've updated to the recent Photo 2.0 and nothing changed. I've since taken the same raw images and edited them the same way in both the old and new versions of photo, and the problem definitely only exists on the new version of Affinity Photo. Thanks.
  2. Last night I left the marquee tool hovering over highlights. The next morning the histogram was correct, but as soon as I moved the marquee tool to the shadows the histogram freezes. Interestingly, if I create two layers, one black, one white and switch between them, the histogram responds immediately (not even a second delay). Of course this is not practical when I'm trying to darken an image just before the blacks clip. For now I'm creating a custom mask using a square set to erase. Thanks again for all your responses.
  3. So I tried this on Affinity Photo 1, and it works perfectly. Unfortunately nothing I do on AF2 works (Change renderer - turn hardware acceleration off - etc.) Initially it seemed like such an insignificant feature, but I am becoming quite a bit annoyed at not being able to make this happen. I'm sure the answer is right around the corner...
  4. Okay thanks. I'll keep trying different settings to see what fixes it.... Oh, and yes I am using the latest version. Thanks again.
  5. I used to use it often, and quite recently. I thought I even used it with 2.0, but not certain. It's a tool I often use, so hopefully it's fixed soon. Thanks for the response.
  6. Since updating to Affinity Photo 2, I can no longer get the histogram to show levels of a marquee selected area. Checking the Marquee box on top right now does nothing. I can get the histogram to respond to individual layers, but the marquee feature does nothing. In the attached photo, you can see the histogram pushed toward the highlights, despite having the eagle's wings (which are mostly black in the photo) selected. I left it overnight to make sure it wasn't a computer power issue, but I woke up to find it the same.
  7. Mark Ingram and Gnobelix, thank you so much, that was it. Here's an interesting bit of information - Last week I noticed the brush was brushing with gaps, so I checked the spacing, found it at 23 and brought it down to 1 without thinking twice about it. It's at 10 now and working fabulously. Thank you very much....
  8. I am using 1.7.3.481 (Just downloaded today) I can reproduce it easily. It happens every time I bring a Raw file from Raw to Develop Persona. Any file will do it. Windows 10 I noticed it first a few days ago when I inverted a curves layer and tried painting in portions of it. The lag is pronounced, well, basically unusable at this point. Today I tried painting white onto a duplicated pixel layer. I painted the zig zag shape you see in the capture. At that point I'd already gone to the bottom of the image and back up, but the brush is only 3/4 of the way down. Duplicate the first Pixel Layer and just grab a brush and start painting any color. I thought at first it happened just with inverted Curve layers, but it turns out it happens no matter what's going on, and no matter how few layers I have open. I am working on a desktop Windows machine with the specs sent above. A week ago this was working just fine. I am guessing something changed somewhere but I have no clue what it could have been. I recently updated the video drivers, but from what I can tell, there's not much happening that stresses the video card.
  9. The moment I choose a brush and begin to paint, all 4 CPU cores are used and 100% of the CPU is in use. The system basically freezes until the brush stroke is rendered. This was a problem several versions ago, but was fixed until now. It is pretty much unusable. Affinity Photo on Windows 10.
