sketcher11 reacted to MEB in New user missing tools on affinity photo
Hi debs : ),
Welcome to Affinity Forums
These tools are only available in Photo Persona. If you have opened a RAW file, Affinity Photo changed to Develop Persona thus you are not seeing them. After you click the blue Develop button in that persona the the RAW file will be converted/processed and will be moved to Photo Persona where you will find these tools on the left toolbar (see screenshot below).
RAW files are always opened in Develop Persona. Processed files (JPG, TIFF, PNG etc) open in Photo Persona. Too learn more about Personas in Affinity Photo check this video: Discover Affinity Photo

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for but the Cambridge in Colour web site has a wealth of information about color management, among many other topics. The tutorials section provides links to dozens of articles, all well written & presented in easy to understand language.

I assume from one of your other posts that you are using a Mac. If so, you can right-click on an empty spot on the Desktop in Finder, select "Show View Options" from the popup menu, & make sure the item outlined in red is ticked:
You can use a similar feature for Finder windows set to display Icon or Cover Flow views. "Show View Options" is an item on the Finder View menu & its keyboard shortcut is CMD+J.

The staff have said that there is no timeframe for v2 upgrades as yet, & there will not be any until everything on the 1.x roadmaps have been added. Basically, that means nothing soon.

Thanks Alfred and R C-R for the info.
One last question about Upgrades... is there a time frame to when the upgrades between Newer versions are released?
Some companies provide upgrades once a year... is AffinityPhoto due for an upgrade to version 2 soon?
I don't want to buy the current latest version1 of AP and find out in a month or two that the release of a Newer version 2 is going to be released.

In System Preferences > App Store there are several preferences for setting how updates are handled. If you enable the "Automatically check for updates" option, you can then also enable the "Install app updates" option indented below that.
Enable both options & you won't have to do anything else to install any updates to the Affinity or any other apps you bought through MAS. The updates will download in the background & be installed after you quit the currently installed version.
It doesn't get much easier than that!

Updates and upgrades are all provided through the MAS (but see @R C-R’s post below).
1.x updates are free to owners of version 1. If we want the new features when version 2 arrives we will need to pay for it, but there will be no compulsion to upgrade (because version 1 will continue to work as before).

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @sketcher11.
You can’t activate your purchase from the trial app. The retail version is a completely separate download, sold via the Mac App Store (MAS). You sign in to the MAS and make your purchase from there, and if you want to install the app on another Mac that you own or control then you simply sign in to the MAS (using the Apple ID that you used for the original purchase) and download the app via the ‘Purchased’ tab. Once you’ve purchased the app, drag the trial version to the trash and empty the trash so that you can’t accidentally launch the trial version instead of the retail version.
If you qualify for any freebies at the time of purchase, or if you want to buy a copy of the Affinity Photo Workbook, you will need to create an Affinity Store account, but you will be guided through the account creation process when you make your first purchase there.
