Totte reacted to Leigh in [FAQ] Are you working on a Digital Asset Management app?
Unfortunately, we're not currently developing a Digital Asset Management app. However, we won't rule out making an Affinity Digital Asset Management app in the future.

Totte reacted to Snapseed in Affinity for Android
That policy approach is fine as far as it goes but Samsung Corporation are still villains for abandoning so many phones and tablets and leaving them without more modern Android versions even when the devices concerned can readily accept those updates.

Or as I mentioned above, only support Samsung devices (for example), as Adobe is doing.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums
its not "overpriced hardware" it's expensive hardware capable of running sophisticated hardware intensive algorithms. Android is not (in its current form) up to the job, so don't hold your breath.

Totte reacted to Kacper in Affinity - Android
hi, I have a question - do not you plan to enter Affinity on Android devices? - today devices with this system are able to support the software often have better solutions than those in Apple - an example may be Note series from Samsung, these phones and tablets have a great hardware specification as well as have an excellent S-pean

Totte reacted to MAK.cz in Affinity for Android
Affinity is sill not for android ;o(
I bought 2x ClipStudio Paint ES licenses for a computer and 1 license for an Android tablet. It is more focused on creative painting and comics, it also supports animations similar to TV Paint. Vectors work differently from Affinity (less exactly) more artistically and creatively. 3D references are great!
The ClipStuio paint application for iPod and Android works and looks the same, on Android it is about 2GB more RAM and it is known in more layers. But SuperAmoled requires specific settings for painting. I'm very satisfied
In a year or two, I'll come back to see if Affinity Designer for android was released. ; /

I won't buy Apple because it does not work with my work (The other, non-creative work).
I don't have a tablet, but I'd definitely get Samsung's new high-end tablet if Affinity were supported.

Thanks Totte,
It took a while to get to this point... Keep at it, I'm sure you'll get there. Don't forget to share your progress on the forum as well!

This is amazing! Good job! Trying to make a children's book myself, but I'm not nearly as good

Totte reacted to My Strawberry Monkey in Ohhh My Strawberry Monkey
Hi all, hope all is well, its been a while since I posted any updates. I've finally completed the first of many children's picture books, you may have seen a copy a while back, but I wasn't happy with the end results from the printers and there has been many, many changes. I have also designed the website in Affinity Designer which contains games and free activities for schools and parents.
Ohhh My Strawberry Monkey is the series of books and are stories of friendship based around a cute, pink, lovable, but somewhat clumsy monkey who will certainly cause a few chuckles.
The website is mystrawberrymonkey.com and you can find our first paperback here on Amazon
If you have grandkids, kids, nieces or nephews go check this out!

Totte reacted to SrPx in My Adobe resignation. Anyone else packed it in with them?
Yep! The you get what you paid for is a rule that tends to apply (let us not forget that Affinity apps are an absolute bargain in price, despite being so functional).... Still... I'm of the type that prefer workarounds than paying a lot, specially if it's monthly.... If one is heading for many steps below in terms of paying...well...you'll find the sharp corners and the stones in the road, it is expected. In that sense, Blender (the 3D app), as a perfect example, provides with about the best ratio of what you can get with (quite some) effort in the learning curve (so, a lot of people don't endure it) but the huge outcome you can get from it (financially, too) versus what you invested financially (nothing, or some donations). It is so important (this flexible attitude) that is often the difference of having a sustainable set of expenses related to your artwork versus putting a lot of money in your tools. That said, for anyone having very nicely paying clients (not my case, I'm indy-friendly... btw, not meaning am unskilled / inexperienced... ) there's absolutely no question (probably most wouldn't be here), get the maximum that your money can bring, for tools. Time is more valuable, in those cases. I have my collection of doubts about considering that's the case with Adobe (even having handled it professionally for many years), but hey, to each his own.

I've tried DT, they got a looong way to go before they can compare themselves to paid software. There's a reason you're paying to Adobe programs. It's premium

The offer was to all beta testers, so I suspect that the change of email is to blame.

Totte got a reaction from Chris M.. in Introduce Yourself
Hi, I'm Totte from Sweden, a beginner photographer and designer who stumbled across these two lovely pieces of software as I was looking for an alternative to one of your competitors. As I'm no fan of the monthly fee model, the choice was given. Don't regret joining this lovely community for one second.

Can you attach your *.afphoto file here so that we can see what you’ve done so far?

You weren't kidding about its being quite big! (For those wondering, it's just under 300 MB.)
I don't see a white or grey grid here. Can you post a screenshot?

Totte reacted to DM1 in Composite photo(?)
@TotteHere is a copy of my earlier file. It’s small (only 11mb). It is pretty simple and should give you a good idea of how each layer was created and position.
Masks are like a sheet of glass (clear) that you sit over a pixel image. When you create a mask on the iPad it is filled with white (White reveals) and you can see all the image the mask is covering. When you invert the mask it fills with Black (Black conceals/hides), and none of the image covered by the mask is visible. This is why you paint White on Black masks to reveal parts of an image, and paint Black on White masks to hide parts of an image.
You can adjust the opacity of the masks so that they can be seen through by adjusting the opacity slider.
The position of the masks within the layers is all important. It is probably a good idea to work on part of the image (reveal/conceal) mask, then group those layers before adding the next image and masking. That way you can move the grouped images more easily without accidentally moving the masks.

If you want the road to extend outside the watch face you need to add another mask to the background layer. See in my example how the road appears over the wave. This needed another mask then paint to hide/reveal as needed.

Hello Totte,
DM1 has a nice example.
I would proceed as follows.
deselect your selection,
click on the mask layer and use the brush tool with white foreground color.
(I would take a soft brush tip)
paint over the area you want to make visible,
with black color, is the area again covered.
Cheers
