Vectors are points, lines, curves and shapes that are based on mathematical formulas.

+1. I've been waiting 3 years for this. I keep using Illustrator because it can let me easily measure paths. Anyone who prints their designs will find this functionality useful regardless of the industry. Surely the software needs to make these calculations in the background anyway, it's just that visualising it to the user has not been a priority.

I think for most people it's this one. It has been available in Adobe Illustrator for a long time under the Document Info tab.

    Hi MEB,
Any update as to whether this is in the pipeline? I would think that AD is doing all the measurements in the background it just needs to be displayed somewhere in the UI?
It's disappointing that this feature has been requested for a couple of years now. It is a crucial tool in many people's workflows that keeps them chained to Adobe.
Love the product and just want it to be the best! Thanks for any updates!

    Thanks for the reply John!
I require these measurements similar to the OP. Which means we need to see accurate measurements as we adjust many complex paths on the screen. So the 4 steps you mention above would turn into a high multiple of 4 as we design, export, script, adjust, export, script, adjust etc...
I didn't mean to make too much work for anyone. I just assumed(maybe incorrectly) the software needs to do these calculations in its code anyway. So would it be too difficult to display these measurements to us in the GUI like AI does?
    Thanks

First of all thanks for an amazing illustration software! We are slowly migrating from Illustrator to Designer for the Layout of archaeological plans and drawings. And there is one tool (or the lack thereof) that is currently stopping us. I know this request has been made before, but it would be great to have a measuring tool to accurately determine the length of paths.
Thanks again for the great work!

    Hi Team,
I also use AD to draft clothing patterns and other work where measurement is of supreme importance and work has to be precise. Features that will help with this are missing in AD. I'm sure you are adding and will keep adding features;  I would realllllly appreciate it if you could bring these features to AD soon. I'm dependent on it to use them for my work and it's absolutely necessary.
    Following are some scenarios and features that I think will help;
    1) Using pen tool, when I click a point and move my mouse/cursor etc, I want to know the measurement of how far I'm going; so I'll know when to stop and click my next point.  Similar to how some of the dynamic guides work.
    2) When I select a series of nodes on a path, I want to know the length of that curve or line.
Without these two, for me it's not efficient to work in AD and is too time consuming to get the results I want..Hope to see these in AD updates soon..Thank you very much!

    Hi Mattie,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
Currently Affinity Designer doesn't provide this info anywhere. I'm moving this thread to the Feature Requests section.

Pretty much what I am doing. Very inefficient though. But doesn’t work on curves...

Yep still waiting on this feature as well. Has been documented elsewhere here. Although there is a cumbersome workaround, it goes to show that the software is capable of measuring paths and just requires a bit of front-end work to show the users. It's the only feature keeping me from recommending AD to others...

Yep v1.6.1 and still waiting for this. It's sound insane, but my current workflow means I design in Affinity and then measure in AI. So I'm paying Adobe to be able to measure my paths... Please add path measurements if only to help me break the last chain from CC subscription sentence. : )

Even without a set of dimensioning tools, length and area of a selected path should be provided in the interface of any serious drawing program.
