ceg got a reaction from keiichi77 in mouse pointer disappears
I am using build 693 under Win 10 (latest version 2004).
My mouse pointer disappears on a regular basis. On a fresh start everything works normal for the first image. Once the first image is closed the mouse pointer disappears. The screen shot image does not show the pointer in the correct place. In video 1, I almost never see the pointer. The software responds to where the pointer "should" be, but I see nothing, and the screen shot image places it in a completely different location.
Video 2 shows what happens with an open image. What I see is not what is captured on the screen in the video. I see a pointer on the main canvas, on the (empty) menu bar  and when I hover over the AP icon in the upper left corner. Unfortunately that's about it.

ceg got a reaction from Catshill in Astrophotography Stack crashes every time
It's sad to see that there has been one official response to this post since it was originally posted on February 24th. The astrophotography stack was advertised as a big thing. Now nobody seems to care that it doesn't seem to work as advertised for some folks. Correction - doesn't work at all for some folks. I have no way of telling how big of a problem it is, but the lack of a response is disheartening. I am so looking forward to all the features that won't work in the next version of Affinity Photo.

ceg got a reaction from NotMyFault in Histogram feature could use some improvement
I've never had much confidence in AP's histogram, but had hoped it would get some improvements in AP 1.9. No such luck.
    1. The histogram in the curves adjustment tool is absolutely useless. It only shows where all three channels overlap. It's been a bug for years, but yet ... it's still there.
    2. The regular histogram during Raw development is questionable. Attached are histograms for an image that was composed in camera to have a well-centered histogram. Photo Mechanic creates a histogram from the jpeg, which looks about like the in-camera histogram DxO Photo lab (no corrections applied) shows a very similar histogram for he RAW file. Only Affinity is special. 😞
The image also shows screenshots of the image preview for all three versions.
I am using AP on a windows desktop.

I can not confirm this, neither the behaviour in video 1 nor the behaviour in video 2.
I also use the same Windows Version than you and i have no Problems.
Is this behavior only with the Affinity Apps or with other Apps too? For me it seems like a Windows Problem.
I had this Behavior a few years ago with win7 but i can´t remember what i have done to fix it.

    Maybe this helps you...

ceg got a reaction from Dan C in Affinity Photo - Develop persona display way off
    Dan C,
well, you won't like the answer: it works just fine right now (and I tried!). I do not remember the tool (I think I used several), but what happened is that the switchover from the tool icon (hand, brush icon etc.) to the regular pointer arrow did not seem to work. Whenever you leave canvas area (not sure what you guys call it and move over to a tool bar or palette, the cursor disappeared)  I had to use my touchscreen to make it work. I'll post in the appropriate forum if I experience it again.
    Thanks again for your help!

That might solve it. I am running 1.8.0.585 and was just asked whether I would like to download a newer version.
    Thank you,

The lowly crop tool could use some improvements:
    1. For starters: when selecting an aspect ratio - please keep the crop within the image. For example, when I try to crop a 3:2 image in landscape format into a 1:1 square I get a crop that is based on the long edge, horizontal edge, rather than the shorter vertical edge. The crop extends off-screen. So far only mildly annoying: grabbing the handle on the left or right side easily resizes the crop. Worse though: if I decide to switch the crop to "unconstrained" I have to scroll up and down to corral those upper and lover edges of the crop.
    2. Most other software recognizes that a 2:3 crop uses the same aspect ratio as a 3:2 crop and adjust the crop accordingly, based on mouse behavior. Affinity is, unfortunately, not smart enough to realize that a user would like to switch from landscape to portrait (or the other way round) while keeping the aspect ratio.
There are plenty of things I like about the crop tool, but these two issues have bugged me for weeks.
