  1. Superhashi - thanks for the suggestion, but I am creating files that might have up to 6 different vectors, filled with different bitmaps. Your work around would be better suited if I had less objects in one file.
  2. I am still struggling with this issue myself. PDFs are much preferable to SVG as far as losing format. At one point I had tried saving from AD as an SVG, then opening that in iDraw, and ressaving it and opening it in SSDE. That was much better, but a rather cumbersome work around. I am not sure where the trouble lies. Ideally, I would still love to have the plugin to cut directly from AD. The Silhouette software is being updated, and is greatly improved since Version 2, but I love Affinity!
  3. Curious, is this issue with Expand Stroke also why we haven't seen the Contour / Offset feature yet? I'd rather get it later and right, instead of now and broken, but best of all would be sooner, and right. (Not that I'm impatient - ok, I'm not known for my patience LOL)
  4. Anyone else having trouble with crashing on export? Consistent issue - which rather is a problem. :-( Running 4.0.10 Sierra on a Late 2013 Mac, 3.1 GHZ i7, 8GB Thoughts? Suggestions?
  5. I really miss this from CorelDRAW. Maybe I am missing something, I'm not even getting copy/paste..... does it just show me my options better?
  6. Excited to try features, still *trying* to be patient for offset/contour. :-)
  7. Hopefully when we get this, we do not have to convert to curves, but will be able to allow the font intact. This is one feature that I really, really miss.
  8. Several hundred dollars a year? :-) I'll leave a serious answer to someone more qualified than myself.
  9. Although I'm not going to get hung up on a name (or the icon) since the software itself is so great, I still agree with Jamon. It can be rather confusing: "What software do you use?" You must use the whole handle: "Affinity Photo," even if you suspect the person to whom you are speaking is familiar with Affinity. Photoshop is a great descriptive name, Corel's Paintshop maybe not quite so much. But while I think the name doesn't live up to the software, I'm a lot more concerned about what I can do with it, especially on a Mac, with a limited budget. I love Affinity!!! (a rose by another name....)
  10. Still hoping for the time when we can copy only some of the effects (e.g. the shadow, but not the 3d) etc :-)
  11. I am not familiar with the Easycut software. I use Silhouette Studio Designer Edition for my Silhouette Cameo. I have not been able to successfully export as SVG (preferred format) which leads to weird distortions in size and shape - though strangely only when opening a AD created SVG in SSDE, and not in other apps. My work around has been to used PDF, which works fine.
  12. Of course, we all think the feature we miss the most should be at the top. :-) Thanks again for great software, but mostly for listening to your customers!!!!
  13. Still waiting for offset / contour, so the Expand Stroke is an unhappy work around, when it's ok. Still a great fan of the software - just wish this feature was higher on the list!!!
  14. Glad you figured it out. I really enjoy using AD for designing my cuts - hope you do too!
  15. If you have Affinity Photo, I would recommend trying some basic vector work in that app, and see how that SVG imports into Cricut Design Space. Although Designer gives you many more vector options than Photo, I think you will have some of the same results as far as exporting / importing, to find your basic layering options. I have a Silhouette Cameo, and have had sizing trouble with my AD SVGs importing into the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition software (I've had some of the same with importing to other apps as well) Using PDF as my export option, I have had better success. Importing a AD created SVG definitely gives me the option to cut by color (if you color the pieces of each layer the same color) in my SSDE software. Even though I have the Designer Edition and not just the basic Silhouette software, AD has become my "go to" software for designing my cuts. (I do paper crafts, cards, wall vinyl, heat transfer, etc.) I do realize that while CDS is similar, it is not identical to SSDE, but hope this helps some.
  16. I'm not going to quibble over the splash screen since I love the app, but have to agree that I don't feel it really represents the app well. :-)
  17. I can relate - sometimes it's so obvious, and I miss it. :-) Select the object you want to add, then click on the menu on the category you want it in, and you will see Add From Selection.
  18. I know that Affinity would have to have cooperation from the manufacturers, but I would LOVE to be able to cut on my Silhouette directly from AD!!!! Definitely would be worth paying for a plug in!! I'm not sure though if this would have to come from Affinity or from the manufacturer. I do know Silhouette offers both AI and CD plugins. I have emailed them about the possibility of a plug in for AD, but I'm guessing they would need a LOT of requests.
  19. Actually, the reason the denim and burlap elements look so real is that they started their lives at photo jpgs. Amazing what you can do with this software! :-)
  20. I enjoy digital / paper / hybrid scrapbooking and crafts. Usually I use others' scrapbook kits, but occasionally make my own. Here is a recent one, done mostly on AD / AP. If there are any interested scrappers, you can download the kit at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B815VnrrSEEzOFhvcWxVVFpuRXc/view?usp=sharing
  21. I think what you are wanting is an interior contour, which is not yet available. (Still trying to be patient on that one, as it is something I use all of the time!) You have to make the stroke (border, or outline) the width of the inset you want, then choose Layer / Expand Stroke.. This will separate the stroke from the original object. You will have to divide the stroke, and choose the inner part for your outline. Set the fill to Empty, and then choose the stroke attributes you want.
