Ash got a reaction from Slocan1 in Vector Scaling Options
Quick vid showing options to control how some attributes scale with a vector object. The corner radius example is for a rounded rectangle shape - but you will find similar attributes in the context toolbar for other shapes where it's relevant. e.g. the arrow - you can control whether you want the arrow head to get bigger proportionally or stay the same size when you make the arrow longer...

I like the way it's explained, very clear I love this feature too...

...but could it be even greater and more powerful.
I imagine being able to see in real time the "relative distances" (X,Y coordenates) of the "copied star" from the center-to-center or side-by-side (or both) of the original star.
And to be able to see how much (in %) it's that star being increased or decreased in size. (being 100% the size before scalling it)

....as well as it's occurs now with the rotation.
I hope my beloved smart-guide-visualization (or sort of) it's implemented soon.

Ash got a reaction from Jobalou in quicker vector work (how to...)
I also like the fact hitting the tool shortcut for any tool toggles to the previous tool you had...
Might cause other issues, but I wouldn't mind seeing double click on the leading control point node (i.e. the last one you have dragged in pen mode) also ending the line. Basically so whatever mode you are operating in (pen, smart or line) you can always double click straight after finishing your last adjustment without having to move the mouse.

Ash got a reaction from Sven Kalkschmidt in Modifier to instantly apply picked colour
If you're using the colour picker would be nice to hold alt or something so when you pick the colour it immediately gets applied. Would be nice if when holding the modifier you are seeing the colour change to your selection live as you're dragging the dropper around...

Ash reacted to paolo.limoncelli in Pencil brushes
Sure!
It's pretty easy:
1) Create a new Intensity brush form Brushes Studio palette
2) Use a PNG picture as starting nozzle (use this one for example)
3) Form Brush editing palette use these settings
4) In Dynamics these...
And you're done!
I do prefer Pixel Tool because turns anti-alias off and delivers gritty results, but it is pretty usable even with brush tool.
Flow variation helps to simulate pencil hardness.

Ash got a reaction from Jobalou in Is it possible to clip a group?
You could use the layer(s) with the legs to mask the shadow object. You would need to create a duplicate of the legs - so you've got the original and one to mask the shadow object with. Like I've done here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/dbfdomf1cx4a1w9/ClipOnGroup.mp4?dl=0

Ash got a reaction from Grapefruit in Bounding box around multiple node selection
A suggestion from Twitter:
PS functionality that when you press cmd T with a multiple node selection you get a bounding box around it - looks cool for spreading distribution of nodes equally.

Ash got a reaction from peter in Is there a comprehensive list of key bindings/shortcuts anywhere?
Yeah - got to help, then in the search box type "keyboard shortcuts". That should give you the topic you need :)
Thanks,

Ash reacted to Lescot in First Illustration with AD. 'Refill on Mars.' Looking for intelligent gradients
Hi guys,
total Newbie here. Love Affinity, very snappy.
Of course I found quite some bugs, that's why we are testing. Can I post my findings here or is that a no-go?
While working on this illustration I was missing deeply a function I'd like to see here.
General question or idea:
is there a way to draw in autofill/loop mode with the vector line-tool?
that's for creating closed shapes, maybe with a smoothing slider?
And even more important: do you see a way to integrate intelligent gradient fill for this function? would be a KILLER feature. Settings: Smooth, Autoloop, Fill, Gradient
The idea is to make the gradient fill depending on where you start drawing your shape. Gradient fill always from color to transparency, with a slider for color intensity. (Please see attached file). 1 is the starting position. There is only one app offering this and it's sooo helpful.
Second attachment is my first drawing with Affinity, hope you like it ;)

Ash reacted to Lescot in 2nd Illustration with AD, RC-1, 'THE RACE' with first impressions.
Had fun doing this, the new tapered brushes are pretty cool!.
My Racing Queen was entirely done with RC-1.
Minor glitches
Had one freeze after:
1. using the top of the new tapered brushes, 2. then zooming in and 3. trying to select the drawn elements with a frame. Flying menus turned grey and the frame did not vanish. Unable to click anything after this, but happily SAVE worked like a charm.
After re-opening some elements got an additional fill (all on the layer where I tried to select them) but with some mouseclicks it was fine again.
Pencil tool: when drawing line is not visible - so it is still a bit 'try and error'.
Brushes:
I really like the additions, very useful.
A bit of tweaking is needed for the Tapered Brushes.
Sometimes, when drawing lines, the end of the line get's capped/ cut-off like you were using a square shaped brush.
Tried this with different sizes and settings (velocity/ pressure/transparency): result is - the bigger the brushsize the more edgy your line-end.
I also found the new brushes a bit laggy with the Companion Hybrid and the Bamboo.
While the greyout of boxes has happened several times already I NEVER lost a sketch here. Find this very impressive.
Some fully finished programs make me bang my head against the wall quite often ;)
