  1. Hello everyone. I've been somewhat slack in updating my Affinity Products. I was still running a 1.8.5 series I think...now there is the 1.9 series. I've just upgraded to 1.9.2.

It would seem that suddenly the app is asking to register? Why is that? My machine already seems to know how to point to my account to download the new versions...so what is the purpose of the registration??

I hope it's not going to become a program that can only be run with an internet connection??

For all the time I have been with Affinity, this disturbs me quite a lot.

  2. Hey Bruce, Thanks for the comment.

It's an image inside a small room - so I'm trying to get the full height of the wall (which I can't with the camera turned horz.).

I'll give it a go with a smaller number of images.

Update: Seems that less images makes a difference. I can do four, but five makes it freak! It could be that the images are confusing it, as I don't have a panorama function on my camera.

Thanks for the help. Regards :)

  3. Greetings,

    Using Affinity Photo...

I tried a vertical panorama (the camera is turned sideways so the long length of the image is vertical) using a group of 11 images. It took a long time to process them, but once it was done, the resulting panorama was squashed - as though the software only recognizes the images as 16x9 normal (horizontal).

Can I use vertical images for panoramas?

PS I've done a search of the site and read many posts, but I could 't find an answer to this

    Thanks

This is a great idea, and I can certainly see the benefits of this - however AFAIK we don't wish to release any version of the workbook in PDF form as unfortunately this makes the Workbook considerably easier to steal/reproduce without our consent and this can lower the value of everyone's physical copy.

Hey Dan, wasn't suggesting a full PDF version of the book. Obviously I wasn't clear enough :(.

It would be nice if a PDF version of only the changes made to each release was available. That is, you don't rewrite the workbook every time (well I hope not)...only change the relevant parts for the newest release of the software. So in effect, for those of us that had purchased the workbooks, we would only get a select number of PDF pages that show the updated practices with the software. We could than print those out and insert it between the correct pages in the actual book.

    Cheers.

  5. Would be nice if those of us that purchased the workbooks prior to 1.7 had the ability to get a PDF update to the changes made in the workbook. Having purchased both books, which equates to a reasonable investment, makes me realize how out-of-date real books soon can be. However, there is still a lot of valuable info in the books, even if they are not specifically current.

MoI3D is still as interesting as ever, but I've quit using it in favor of Blender 2.8 *unless* I'm creating a CAD model for 3D printing. Good luck!

    Interesting comment.

I started learning Blender because someone on my scale modelling forum is using it for scale modelling projects and 3D printing - and its free. :D

So, are you saying (IYO) MoI3D is better to learn for 3D printing (something I'm trying to get into but I want to learn to model first), or stick with Blender. I find both MoI and Rhino easier to use than Blender - struggling with the everything is a flat line / panel thingee. That is, start making a round item with a cube. Seems wierd to me (counter-intuitive) - but I have more time in both Moi and Rhino (but currently own neither).

I'm a long time user of TurboCAD (2D only). While I've done some 3D modelling in it (and 3D learning), I wasn't sold on its coolness for that. I plan in the long term to take some paid courses for that as well. Miss the CAD type tools in Blender (especially some of the awesome snaps). I still draw a lot of make stuff in CAD - export to svg and import into Designer. I find that easier than using Designer's tools. Could be though that my 15+years in TurboCAD helps with me being comfortable with the tool set.

I have done several precision tutorials in Blender, so I know it can be done (with effort).

Apologies to the other posters here as I realise this is somewhat off topic.

Hi Phil! KIT OPS is going great. Just released a new update for Blender 2.8. :-)

Working hard to learn Photo as I really want to do away with Adobe. Created my first Photo video tute:

@chippwalters  - Thanks for the video. Something else to add to my to-do list - make material tiles! :29_smirk:

Glad Kit Ops is going well for you. I've had a play with the free version. Scared me on how awesome it was :63_astonished:. I'll be along soon to get a copy.

Two weeks ago I finished Zacharias Reinhardt's (CG Boost Academy) Blender 2.8 Launchpad online beginner course (First online course ever). It was excellent. I learned a lot of the basics.

Trying to follow up that learning with more difficult stuff on the actual 3d modelling side - so I'm looking for my next course (most are still for 2.79). Want to get into some Moi sometime too.

I've been using the Affinity Apss for a couple of years. I think they're great - but always so much to learn. Looking forward to more tutorials.

Hey Chipp - nice to see you over here (assuming you are the CW I've seen on other forums) ;)

Been meaning to catch up with you over KO. How is that going?? - Well I hope.

Hope you find the Affinity products (remember they are only Version 1 at this point) as cool as we do. While they do take some effort - I think they are worth it.

    Catch ya on the flipside!

If you're installing brushes you've purchased it downloaded you can save the original .afbrushes files. Or you can export any brushes you create or change, and save their .afbrushes files.

So a afbrush file is Affinity's version of the brush?? I guess these are created when you install new brushes (for each brush??)

This could be a good alternative - but ultimately, it would be nice if Affinity could reset ALL brushes to default that match what they were when installed. I have been caught numerous times and the originals setting have been lost. I'm still really a noob with all this stuff.

Does that include deleting any brushes that were created or installed by the user?

Yeah...I think it sets the brushes back to factory - all installed brushes other than the default Affinity are lost. This is a major limitation. I would like to see the option to reset brushes back to factory - including all installed brushes. I thought this might have been resolved in 1.7, but obviously it's not seen as an issue. Massive task to write down all the brush settings when they're first installed.

  11. I'd love to help as well if I could. I also have the Huion 610 Pro v2 model but I don't really know how to drive it. (hell I don't even know where the steering wheel is yet!)

I can also attest to the fact that Huion has a good support service. I'm currently having issues with my system that is caused by the Huion driver - we are still trying to get to the bottom if it.
