VectorWhiz reacted to Archangel in Lincoln Cathedral Aerial Illustration
I recommend playing with the engraving GMIC plug in to get the best detail effects by tweaking coherence, density and radius.
Also getting a higher resolution original image will help maximize the detail of the output. PhotoZoom is a very useful tool for quality enlargements.

Here is an Unsplash Image of Lincoln Cathedral given the gmic Affinty Hdr treatment.
Use the original image ...
Then use the G'MIC plugin and save different versions of the image, always beginning with the original image, using ...
Color - Autobalance
Artistic - Illustration Look
Black and White - Engraving,
Export each image separately. I recommend using PNG for lossless compression.
Then using HDR Merge, import all the separate images including the original and allow Affinity Photo to create the composite image. Use the Tone Map as detailed or dramatic.
Then adjust the image in the develop persona tweaking the Black Point +10, then tweak the vibrancy and saturation until you get the colour effect you desire. Then develop the image and save it to a format you prefer.
Voilà ... and you will get the illustrated effect as shown.

VectorWhiz reacted to Didge in Comparing Affinity Photo vs Astro Pixel Processor
Hi VectorWhiz,
To be fair to APP, I probably spent more time adjusting image (c), but that was really easy to do in Affinity Photo.
The image has a slightly darker background, but IMHO the stars are perfectly aligned, and also a bit sharper.

The old areas of towns and cities are often the most appealing visually. You're doing a great job capturing these pre-regulate-everything architectural marvels with a stunning palette.

VectorWhiz got a reaction from dannyg9 in Skin Art Magazine 177
It takes a lot of skill to create such a complex lay-out that does the creative tattoo work justice. It's making a work of art with works of art.

VectorWhiz got a reaction from Greggry P in More details from Kazuko (my work-in-progress cyber geisha): robot prawn and hair chrysanthemum
Quite often I'm amazed by what artists can achieve on iPads with Designer. In this work, the creative element, level of detail and skill are great. Kudos!

Lovely when the software you choose just keeps getting better. The whole suite is a part of this, but mostly Publisher.

VectorWhiz reacted to Kasper-V in Vintage-style petrol can
As usual, I made this for no good reason*. (Who needs a good reason to work with Affinity anyway?) Maybe I've watched to many of those TV shows where they find old junk and clean it up to make money. Whatever; this was made entirely from vectors apart from two jpeg textures applied to the can and one more to the cap.
* I just wanted to play with the lettering, and the can seemed a good vehicle for it. But if a job's worth doing . . .

VectorWhiz reacted to Deadbyxmas in Affinity illustrations and experiments
So, going back to the various visual development studies - a study I did based on Japanese director Sion Sono's work (in particular Tokyo Vampire Hotel) had a big role in learning and adding new tricks in my sleeve.
I will share a couple to start with, thank you for watching and feel free to let me know what you think or ask any questions!

Thanks MEB, always glad to, and hoping to share another process video soon in case someone might find it useful.
In the meantime, here's another two from the Tokyo Vampire Hotel series of studies. (yes, the are references to Tarantino, just in case you were wondering)
Thank you for looking as always!
