  1. I haven't played with it for a while and I can't find my original post. I'll see if I can reproduce it but, since spring is here I don't have much computer time available. Here's a work in progress that has links like I am talking about. If you export to PDF and click ignore and continue the resulting PDF works as required. If you click fix and continue the page numbers still work but the written links are removed. That means you have to manually link everything and never update links. If you add a page there is no way to update the TOC without loosing all of your work. NewManualDemo.afpub
  2. I have gotten it to do it but, the only way I have gotten it to work is to make every line in the TOC the link. If you update the links or when you export to pdf and check the box that says to update the TOC it all goes away. I posted as a bug many months ago but, no change. Each time a new version comes out I check to see if it has been done.

    TOC hyperlinks

Working with hyperlinks in 249. You can link in the TOC and even use your own style for the link (two step process) however. If you update the table of contents all links disappear. When you export to pdf if you use the "Ignore and continue" option the resulting pdf has the links correct. If you use the "Fix and continue" option it's the same as if you update. The resulting pdf has no links in the TOC. Links in places other than in TOC work properly. This is a pdf with the links working correctly. NewManual239.pdf

    TOC hyperlinks

This is still a problem in 257
  5. fde 101 beat me to it. Another way to position things. Select something you want to position relative to. Then select what you want to position, as you drag it around you will see green lines showing what things are aligned to. In the case of text you get left edge of box left edge of text in that box center of box right edge of box This works for pretty much anything. Horizontal lines will show as a red line

    Anchors and hyperlinks

Not sure if there are other ways to do this. This is what works for me. You have to create the anchor first. Highlight the text or object you want to be the anchor. Go to Text>>Interactive>>Insert Anchor. A box will popup with the text that you highlighted, you can change the name if you want. You can also do that later. Next highlight the text you want to be the link. Go to Text>>Interactive>>Insert Hyperlink. A box will popup, for Hyperlink type choose anchor, the next box should have a list of all of the anchors you have created. Choose the one you want. I tend to create a lot of anchors then go back and create the links to them. You can also rename, change type of link and change targets in the Hyperlink studio. You can test to see if your link and anchor are correct by using the two buttons at bottom left of the Hyperlink studio.
  7. In beta 249 You can't assign a shortcut for Interactive>Insert>Hyperlink. You can however assign Interactive>Insert>Anchor and Interactive>Show>Anchor.
  8. What do you need to edit that isn't available? You can change the name, type of link and character style in the Hyperlinks panel. You can modify or make a new character style in the styles panel.
  9. Do the "powers that be" watch these threads or does this need to be reported as a bug?
  10. Unless I haven't found it you can't assign Interactive>Insert>Hyperlink. You can however assign Interactive>Insert>Anchor and Interactive>Show>Anchor.
  11. I just found out that the page number in a table of contents is already a hyperlink to that page. How cool is that?
  12. This confused me when I first read it. I should have said I just downloaded 249 NOT 239
  13. Just downloaded 239. So far in just a few tests The issues I had been having have all been taken care of. Master page go to works. Table of contents link to anchor works. Target areas are in the correct place.

    Hyperlink problems

I love the hyperlinks, It's the main reason I looked into Affinity Publisher Running on Windows 10, AP 1.7.0.238 I have created a few test pages to show my experience with hyperlinks. I have verified that the correct information is in the Hyperlink Properties studio. Some of the links have a new style I have created, all it did was remove the underline and change text to black. It doesn't seem to make any difference which style I use. The file "master test" has a number of links. None of the ones that are on the master pages work. I find that I can not add anything more to the master pages. If I add another master page I can't put anything on it. On "master test2" the links work but, I typed the url address out and linked to that. If I don't type out the url it doesn't work see "master test 4" On "master test4" the links don't work, the url is correct in the hyperlinks suite. In my mind 4 should work the same as 2. On "master test6" both url links work but, the link to page 3 doesn't. Also I have not been able to successfully link more than one thing in a TOC. master test6.pdf master test6.afpub master test4.pdf master test4.afpub master test2.pdf master test2.afpub master test.pdf master test.afpub

  18. Is it possible to have a hyperlink on a master page that works on all pages?

    Hyperlink on master page

Your test case don't work for me It does work but, you have to wait a few seconds before it's active. I just made another test document and mine doesn't work.I added another link you your master. Your link works, mine doesn't. Looking at your file there seems to be an empty box on the master page that shows up in the hyperlinks list.

    Hyperlink on master page

That's what I'm trying for only, on a pdf file to be read on a reader.
  21. I've attached a screen shot video of a problem I'm having with, what I call, the target area for a hyperlink. This is a video of an exported pdf file. As I move the cursor down you can see that the area that it turns into a hand gets farther away from the correct line. When I click on a link there is a very quick black flash that, I assume, is that target area. On the first line you can see that it pretty well lines up correctly. By the time I get down to the 8th line if you click on it and get the file for the 7th line. The farther you progress down the worse it gets. These are all links to a file but, I get similar results for other types of hyperlinks. The end of the video shows that the area that I highlighted to make the link isn't as long as what I highlighted. Is there some setting that I can change in the hyperlink style editor that I can make for this target area? There are a lot of choices in the style editors that I don't understand what they are. I have also found no way to make links work in a TOC. When I export to pdf some links work but, most do not. Many end up linking to the wrong place. When you export with a link in a TOC you get a popup that says "The index needs updating" I've tried bot options, "Ignore and continue" or "Fix and continue" with pretty much the same results. I do have the box checked for "Include Hyperlinks" I'm trying to figure out if this is a bug or, some setting I don't have correct. HyperlinkProblem.mp4

    Hyperlinks

Windows 10 OS, Affinity Publisher build 1.7.0.238 I 2 page document with various links. When I export to PDF some ot the links work properly some go to the wrong place and some don't work at all. One that goes to an anchor works. The second one that goes to an anchor doesn't work. The first one that goes to a file works correctly. The next one doesn't work, there is a target area (where the pointer turns to a hand) below the second one but, it goes to the wrong file. The next one doesn't work, target area is below it and does go to the right file. The next link to an anchor doesn't work, On the second page is the anchor that does work, it goes to the first page. The next one is supposed to go to a file but, it goes to the same anchor as the link just above it. The next one is supposed to go to a file, does nothing. One for email doesn't work. The one that is supposed to go to a URL goes to a file. From what I can tell I have everything correct in the hyperlinks studio. I've attached the file but, not the local files that I linked to. hyperlink test.afpub

    Affinity Designer crash

I have Affinity Designer 1.6.5.135 running on a Windows 10 machine. I can reproduce this every time. If I save, or export, a document to a usb stick, then remove the stick and try to save or export a document AD crashes. I get an unhandled exception warning (file attached). If I remember to also save the file to an internal hard drive before removing the usb stick it doesn't happen. I've filled out the Crash Reporter a number of times.

  25. How do you view the hyperlinks studio? If I go to View--Studio--Hyperlinks it won't check. Also how do you request hyperlinks on export? I don't see any option for that.
