  1. In my opinion, if Publisher had a "Do Not Print" option then this would solve your problem, then the reference objects could be set to not print and be exempt from preflight.
  2. Is it possible to set Affinity apps to generate larger QuickLook previews on the Mac? This is for all 3 apps. For instance, in Finder when I press the space bar on an Affinity Photo document, the Quicklook window is small - about a 1/3 the size of my screen. The exact same file exported to any other graphics format will fill my screen with Quicklook, giving me a much better preview. My understanding is that the apps control how their format plugs into the Quicklook functionality. Thanks!
  3. I think you're right Bruce. I just tried it again. I just assumed that it was not selected because nothing is highlighted in the panel. Perhaps that can be added because it's misleading.
  4. This is actually for all Affinity apps. I've tried it in all 3, including the betas... When I click in the layer opacity box and change the value, I press return and the new value takes hold. What's annoying is that the box remains selected. So if I start using the keyboard for something else, like arrow keys to nudge the layer position or V to change to the arrow tool, nothing happens because the app still thinks I want to type into the layer opacity box. It would be great if Affinity apps would register the return as "I'm done" and not have that selected anymore. The only way out of it that I can see is to click somewhere else in the Layers panel. This is another extra step and over time these things slow me down. This might also happen in other panels as well.
  5. When I create a new mask for a layer, it would be great if Affinity Photo would automatically select the mask. That way I can start manipulating it right away. This seems to be a bug in the Mac version, as Walt posted here that the Windows version already behaves this way. What happens right now: - click on a photo layer - click the mask button in the layers panel - a new mask layer is created below the photo layer - I have to click the new mask to select it - now I can start using the paintbrush on it It would be helpful if I didn't have to select the mask each time. I was working on a job yesterday where I needed lots of little masks and it would have been time saving.
  6. Sounds like it. It happened to me over and over yesterday. I just tried it in the beta and it behaves the same way there too. I'll post in the beta forum.

  8. Just noticed in the EXIF panel, the data on the right doesn't line up with the headings on the left. This is the non-beta: Out of curiosity, I installed the beta and see that it's a bit better but still a little off: UI size is set to large.
  9. Thanks Gabe. What's strange is that it didn't do that originally. When I first placed the image, scaling worked fine. So something happened afterwards when I was adjusting and moving photos around.
  10. Thanks! I can confirm this works correctly in the latest beta.
  11. It would also be nice to have keyboard shortcuts (this and other things too). I use the keyboard shortcut all the time in InDesign.
  12. For me, I know what each button does because it's written next to the button along with a thumbnail. I don't need to experiment - I know what I need. Plus really that window acts as if it's a menu and not a window so I'd expect a "menu" to disappear once I chose a command. I guess since it closes automatically when you click outside that window, that's a good compromise. I just have to get used to it.
  13. Hmmm in looking further, clicking one of the anchor buttons in that window seems to snap things into place but I'm not sure why some of the photos were so out of place and contrary to what that button should be doing.
  14. In the 1.8 beta, this window now behaves differently and it's annoying: Now you have to click Done or Cancel to get rid of it. Previously, you just had to click one of the 4 above options and the window would then close. Now it's a 2 step process where before it was 1.
  15. I don't know why this is suddenly not working correctly, but Scale to Max Fit is doing unexpected things (1.7 and 1.8 beta). The button should be making the photo fill the whole frame proportionately, and it used to, and does some times: Screen_Recording_2020-02-13_at_5_16.01_PM.mov
  16. I just encountered this odd behaviour again and I really think they need to change it. I drew a circular photo frame but my main document was crowded so I dragged it onto the pasteboard. From Finder, I dragged the required photo over the photo frame. The frame highlighted in pink, as if ready to receive the photo. But all that happened was the photo opening in a new tab. The fact that the photo frame is even highlighting says to me that it's not expected behaviour. Devs, can you please comment?
  17. Agreed. The first time I encountered this was with text that I added a bevel and shadow to. I thought maybe I did something wrong in the PDF export settings, but nothing I do stops that text from being rasterized. When I create the same effect in Indesign CS6, the text is not rasterized — the bevel effect is rasterized and contained within the vector shape of the text.
  18. You're posting in the Publisher Beta forum but you're asking about Photo.
  19. Agreed on the collapsable panels into an easy 1-click icon. Also agreed on the contrast. I find it very hard to see where one panel ends and the next begins. It just slows me down because I can easily lose my place when glancing between my artwork and the panel I need.
  20. I'm not asking for them in my presets, I'm using for them in the print presets since they are standard print sizes.
  21. Just had a thought... when I'm at work (print company) some standard sheet sizes are 12x18 and 13x19. Could these be added to the Print Presets?
  22. Are you installing the beta app into the Applications folder? When you download a new beta version, do you overwrite the old version? - Make sure you don't have multiple versions of the beta app on your system. - Manually remove all instances of the beta app from your dock. - Open the beta app. If you want it to stay in the dock, right/command click on it and choose Options > Keep in Dock Then see what happens.
  23. Ahh please do ASAP. I don't think I saw so many of those fonts until Catalina!
