Yes, we will be providing MSI installers to customers who require them. This FAQ will be updated with links to MSI downloads when they become available.
    Yes. These are now available

Arte got a reaction from keken in Books option like InDesign for Publisher for long documents
Indesign has the option to split long documents into books (if I remember the term correctly), e.g. a book per chapter, and generate the TOC and index across those books belonging together.
It would be nice if Affinity Publisher would eventually get this as well as it makes working with very long documents a bit easier than having to use multiple unconnected Affinity Publisher files as well as allowing for multiple people working on the same long document at the same time by each editing a different book from the set.

You may want to try the solution in this topic below, in case it might be the cause of your crashes. It seems it may also apply to other crash types than the specific ones described in this topic. If it does not solve your issue then please contact Affinity support to have them take a look at it.

Did you try restarting your computer? Just reopening Publisher after a crash may not always solve the problem if there is some memory issue that is the cause. Restarting the computer may solve that.
Otherwise the information in the topic below might be of use in case one of the mentioned things apply, it is not just about fonts but also other things that may crash Publisher:

No, version 2 of the Affinity suite will be a one off purchase (perpetual license) and will not be sold as a subscription service (monthly or otherwise)

We are not commenting on specific features, but suffice to say this is one of those right up there in terms of features we wish to add over those in V1

The major release would require upgrade fee, otherwise the user would be receiving that for free with $5's given here and there which wouldn't make sense. I'm also fine with paying a higher fee for the current model if 2.0 is solid. If productivity is higher, money is made faster, which warrants the jump in price. The main thing is I want to own the software. That last part is critical.

Bad news: Not this month, sorry.
Good news: The longer it takes the more new features, improvements, and fixes will be included. Exciting times ahead.

From another thread on this forum about DXF/DWG support:
    https://aecmag.com/technology/serif-affinity-for-aec-firms/
    Two takes from this article:
    1. Yes DXF/DWG support is on their list of things to implement
    2. V2 is supposed to come out this year.
So it could be that V2 may have at least dxf import/export and hopefully also dwg import/export.

Arte reacted to Aongus Collins in When will the next beta version be released?
I can't understand the negativity in some of the posts on this thread.
The Affinity suite is very much under active development, with six updates in 2021 alone, and a patch in March this year. The focus seems to be on refining the details for a professional workflow rather than on feature parity with other platforms. Serif has made it clear elsewhere that a major upgrade is in the works for 2022, and it will be a paid upgrade.
Affinity's value is outstanding, for software which (for me) delivers fully professional results in both newspaper and magazine illustration and greeting cards.
For comparison, the Creative Cloud multi-app plan that most professionals use costs $600 or €737 annually -- more than 4 times the once-off cost of licensing all 3 Affinity apps.
Even plugins for Adobe Illustrator are now adopting the subscription model. Phantasm now costs $140 a year plus tax (23% where I live). Again more than all three Affinity apps combined. Another plugin, EXDF-Pro (for importing DXF files) is $99 a year plus tax.
So I'll be happy to support a paid once-off upgrade given the alternative!
No inside information, but I wouldn't be surprised if Serif made some announcement next month to coincide with the Apple developer conference.

Arte got a reaction from Intuos5 in DXF or DWG file import in Affinity Designer
Rhino can also create 2D drawings, it is not uncommon to create a 3D model in Rhino and also do the related 2D (construction etc.) drawings in Rhino as well. There are also people who do common 2D work in Rhino as well because they don't want to spend money on an additional CAD program like AutoCAD (LT) for 2D only work.
I assume @Intuos5 was referring to being able to import those 2D drawings in Affinity Designer. In that case it might be easier to request the sender to provide DXF files of the 2D part of the Rhino file.

Serif have actually added many new features and improvements in V1 for free. I have no idea how many of these were, or were not, in the original public roadmap (which is now irrelevant as it no longer exists), but I don't really care.
I can't really see what it matters if something was "originally planned for V1". It ain't there now! If it's in V2 and you want it, buy V2. If you don't want it, don't buy V2. Simples!

Thanks for your comments, guys. I probably would not hang the 2nd one in view of small children, sensitive pets, or civilized guests… 🙂 but AffilityJules has a point. Please forgive a wordy response. Those of you familiar with Goya (Spanish painter) may see similarities to “Saturn Devouring His Son” which partially inspired the illustration. But mostly it came from this encounter.
Many Cree people believe in a creature called the Wentigo that is driven by a cannibal spirit to eat human flesh. During my first year at Moose Lake I happened to be visiting Chief Tobacco and I asked him about this creature because someone had shown me a spot on a grass covered hillock near the lake shore that looked as if someone sat there leaving a print where the grass had died. They said a Wentigo had entered the village and the people began to chase it to drive it away. It became exhausted trying to escape and collapsed briefly on that spot. Since then no grass had grown there.
Chief Tobacco said that his grandfather and another relative were hunting one winter when they had found a Wentigo that was frozen. When they tried to thaw it near the fire it began to scream. They were frightened and decided to kill it by adding more wood to make a huge fire. The fire consumed the Wentigo completely except for its heart which would not burn.
I later came across a book that examined several R.C.M.P. cases involving murders in isolated northern communities where the suspects believed they had been possessed by a Wentigo spirit and felt an irresistible hunger for the flesh of their own family members. The topic of the book was the Wentigo Psychosis - which has been recorded in medical journals.
I believe it is possible the stress of isolation in harsh winter conditions where the spectre of starvation still resides in the memories of some of the people could have caused the psychotic condition in some of the book examples. However, I think the other stories I had heard had more reasonable explanations such as a possible spill of gasoline from one of the boats that are often pulled out of the water close to the spot where the grass does not grow.

And those who expected it will be included in V2 would then pay half if it is not included? 😉
If only one of them could be included I hope it will be endnotes because for me they're a bit more convenient lay-out wise than footnotes.

The Wendigo is a kind of boogieman/evil spirit creature of the native American/FirstNations people. Other cultures have their own versions of this kind of creature as well, sometimes cannibalistic, sometimes not.

Of course, as far as possible, but the point is that lots of business's are affected by outside factors, over which they have no control. (There are many businesses that have gone down thanks to not being able to trade for a couple of years! They couldn't just "keep working and producing" with no customers.)
I'm sorry, but it is totally unrealistic and simplistic to think that any and every plan, made at some point in the past, will never have to be revised or rethought come what may.

Graphic Chengdu is the second series of my cities. I spent my college time here, and I have lived here for the recent 3 years.

It's also the first time I have created something entirely with the iPad version's Affinity Designer. I have tried iPad' Designer before, but it cracked too often.
It's four years since I first bought an iPad, but I have never created something. iPad has a powerful M1 chip now, and the function of the Affinity Designer iPad version is the same as the desktop. So I finally decided to make my iPad a sketchbook that I could carry around easily, not only a video player.
Affinity Designer is stable on M1 iPad Pro. It didn't even crack once while I was drawing this illustration.
I would complete this series with my iPad Pro only.
