Side note - I give VectorStyler beta a try based on a few comments on this thread and WOW! Some of the tools in there are incredibly smooth, especially for a beta version. Liquefy brush, eraser, not to mention all of the distortion and warping one could want... all vector! Their general UI pales a bit by comparison to Affinity, but the Affinity dev's should definitely take a look at all of these options.

+1 for each of the following on desktop (& iPad):
Free Transform + Envelope Distort + Perspective Distort for objects, editable text (and possibly groups). These are my biggest gripes with Designer and I'm beyond shocked after all these years we still don't have them. They are staples in typography and design and, sadly, keep users from being able to have a smooth Affinity workflow. I count myself among those looking to cut the Adobe chord and I believe this would go a very long way to allow that to happen for countless users.
I understand the reason why there's a lack of a road map now, but it would be beneficial to know that these basic tools are on the radar for release, (sooner rather than later).
(While we're adding to the wishlist, Elastic Warp, Bend and Mesh Gradient would be great too. But lets get the basics implemented.)
As much as I love Affinity Designer, I can't see myself going to 2.0 if these basic tools aren't implemented. I don't think I'm the only one.

My number on feature request is free transform of any element - see movie. It would be a quantum leap in vector design.

    Hi toth,
As far as i know yes, this is still planned for Designer, however i can't give you any eta for this, sorry. It's entirely up to the dev team.
We used to be a bit more open regarding roadmaps/plans but after we failed to meet a couple deadlines (due to dev delays/other issues) some users reacted negatively. Since then we just refer to the Betas and accompanying logs to learn about new features/changes coming to avoid causing false expectations. Thanks for understanding.

Can you please implement a "mould" tool (Xara Graphic Designer) or "envelope" tool (Corel).
The sample attached is from Xara

+1 for show brush cursor while painting request. Procreate, (iPad app,) shows a size accurate brush cursor outline when painting, so it can be implemented. Seeing the brush edge is invaluable for masking rather than an exercise in frustration that it currently is with AP on the iPad. Honestly, it's the one thing that keeps me from using it more.

I'm very surprised this hasn't been done yet. Outline of the brush when painting and erasing is essential stuff. It's like painting with real tools but they are invisible.

Is it possible to have the brush outline persist on screen (the one that shows up when you change the brush size). After you change the size of the brush, that feedback disappears and makes detail editing and masking difficult without seeing the edges of the brush. Not sure of this is possible, but it seems like it could get complicated, but with the new 120hz refresh rate on the new iPads...maybe?

Is there a way to import color swatches from Designer on Mac to Designer on iPad? I tried AirDropping the swatch file and also to load through Dropbox but don't see an import area like for brushes. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any help.

Phojoegraphy reacted to smadell in Luminosity Masks
In response to a post I made last May, MJSfoto1956 suggested the use of Blend Options as an alternative to more traditional luminosity masks. It turns out that the use of the Blend Options panel, combined with a little math, makes luminosity based selections quite effective. The trouble is that the method is cumbersome if you do them from scratch each time.

What I have created is a series of Macros that automates the process. The attached afmacros file contains macros for creating Luminosity Selections in their usual and anticipated forms: Lights 1 through Lights 4, Darks 1 through Darks 4, and Midtones 1 through Midtones 4.

    Notes:

    1) Each action will select a luminosity-based portion of the selected layer.
    2) NO additional channels are created, so files don’t become bloated.
    3) Once the selection is made, it can be used for an adjustment layer, a mask, a live filter, etc. It can be deselected (like any selection). It can be replaced by using a different selection (e.g., click on Lights 2 to replace the selection made by Lights 1).

    Caveats:

    4) You must have a Pixel layer or an Image layer selected for the macros to work properly. If you have any other type of layer selected, or if you have NO layer selected, the results you get will be wrong.
    5) The macros will undo any Blend Options you may have set on the selected layer.
    6) I am one person with one computer. Obviously, I have not tested these macros in every possible situation. Use them if you like them. No guarantees are made.
    7) However, if you like them, they are yours. They are my way of saying “thank you” to the Forum for helping me learn a wonderful piece of software!

Yes, you can run a batch of raw conversions to JPEG . However, to @Phojoegraphy's point, one cannot make adjustments to those individual raw files and then preserve those settings for batch conversion. Having such an ability would be a huge leap forward for Affinity Photo.

The problem with doing a color reset is if you had selected colors there before, they're gone. It's a work around. In Photoshop if you click a mask you get black and white. When you click back onto a pixel layer you get whatever colors you had previously. It's a very small but efficient thing that helps keep work flowing.

To speed up workflow, I'd like to request a color behavior change when selecting masks. When selecting a mask, please change foreground/background colors to Black and White. When selecting back onto a pixel or image layer, revert to selected colors. This is a Photoshop behavior I miss very much and I didn't realize how much I missed it as I've spent a LOT of time trying to figure out why my mask wasn't working only to realize I was painting on the mask with a color rather than black/grey/white.

    Thanks for your consideration
