  1. Thanks! I know how this works though... everything is great at the start, then the gods demand a sacrifice and guess who gets thrown into the volcano?!
  2. Update: we don’t really know anything more other than they at least hear us! The person/people running their Twitter account have always been pretty responsive and pleasant.
  3. After a pint or two I built up the courage to bluntly ask this question on Affinity’s Twitter post about update and got a response that sounds promising. Fingers crossed.
  4. Side note - I give VectorStyler beta a try based on a few comments on this thread and WOW! Some of the tools in there are incredibly smooth, especially for a beta version. Liquefy brush, eraser, not to mention all of the distortion and warping one could want... all vector! Their general UI pales a bit by comparison to Affinity, but the Affinity dev's should definitely take a look at all of these options.
  5. +1 for each of the following on desktop (& iPad): Free Transform + Envelope Distort + Perspective Distort for objects, editable text (and possibly groups). These are my biggest gripes with Designer and I'm beyond shocked after all these years we still don't have them. They are staples in typography and design and, sadly, keep users from being able to have a smooth Affinity workflow. I count myself among those looking to cut the Adobe chord and I believe this would go a very long way to allow that to happen for countless users. I understand the reason why there's a lack of a road map now, but it would be beneficial to know that these basic tools are on the radar for release, (sooner rather than later). (While we're adding to the wishlist, Elastic Warp, Bend and Mesh Gradient would be great too. But lets get the basics implemented.) As much as I love Affinity Designer, I can't see myself going to 2.0 if these basic tools aren't implemented. I don't think I'm the only one.
  6. +1 for show brush cursor while painting request. Procreate, (iPad app,) shows a size accurate brush cursor outline when painting, so it can be implemented. Seeing the brush edge is invaluable for masking rather than an exercise in frustration that it currently is with AP on the iPad. Honestly, it's the one thing that keeps me from using it more.
  7. I think if the DAM emulates Adobe Bridge they would be well served. Bridge is highly customizable and is what I'm using currently. I just set it to open relevant Affinity apps instead of Adobe apps. The huge RAW downfall is that Affinity's RAW processing is set up to edit one file at a time. This isn't helpful at all for the types of shooting I do where I often need to edit multiple files similarly during the same session. I'm using Capture One Pro for this at the moment, (I've found it to be a superior processing engine vs. everything else I've tried). I'm comfortable with having a dedicated RAW processor part of my workflow, but it would be a bonus if you could batch edit RAWs with both it and Photo.
  8. D was not set by default for me either - but I made it the set to B&W option. Strange.
  9. The problem with doing a color reset is if you had selected colors there before, they're gone. It's a work around. In Photoshop if you click a mask you get black and white. When you click back onto a pixel layer you get whatever colors you had previously. It's a very small but efficient thing that helps keep work flowing.
  10. Please don't allow changes to hidden layers. Too often I've found myself painting on a hidden layer and not realizing it. Photoshop gives you a warning if you try and do so and makes you reveal the layer before any changes or marks are made. I would very much like to see this behavior replicated in Photo. Thanks for your consideration.
  11. To speed up workflow, I'd like to request a color behavior change when selecting masks. When selecting a mask, please change foreground/background colors to Black and White. When selecting back onto a pixel or image layer, revert to selected colors. This is a Photoshop behavior I miss very much and I didn't realize how much I missed it as I've spent a LOT of time trying to figure out why my mask wasn't working only to realize I was painting on the mask with a color rather than black/grey/white. Also Thanks for your consideration
  12. I just tried an Apple Magic Mouse 1 and a Logitech M705 mouse with Designer 1.8.2 and I could click to select tools, but neither one of them would activate any of the tools on the artboard. ie: grab and move an object with the move tool, add or adjust a node with the node tool, add text with the text tool. I had to use the Pencil. Even disconnecting the Pencil didn't change the behavior. iPad Pro 3 (12") iPadOS 13.4 Designer 1.8.2
  13. Thanks Uncle Mez. What you described, (type on a path,) is how I did the top example. I need to distort text and have it stay a vector so moving it to Affinity Photo is not an option. This singular option is why I still have Illustrator installed. There really is no vector workaround for it in Affinity and I was really hoping we would see it in 1.7. Sorry to be such a downer about it. I’m anxious to try the improved node tools but I don’t think they’re going to do what I want for this.
  14. I'm sadly missing any mention of an envelope distort for text. The transform mode for nodes could hold the answer, it is possible to pinch both corners inward at the same time for a perspective distort? I'm ideally looking to do the equivalent of vector Arch Distort, (see bottom example on attached image) . Is this something that can be achieved with the new transform nodes? I'm toying with the beta at the moment but don't know if I'm just missing something. Thanks for the peek at the beta. I'll definitely play with it more over the next few days and report any bugs I may find.
  15. I haven't noticed any slowdown with AD on my 12.9 Gen 3 pro, but I do notice the UI. I'm anxiously awaiting the update if only to get my screen real estate back.
  16. Procreate is not a MAC app - iPad only. You can export a layered PSD or any flat image file (TIF, JPG, PNG, etc) from the iPad app and into iCloud drive, (or Dropbox,) which will show up on your Mac. Or you can export to Air Drop and transfer them that way. You can jump over to their forums and ask for people's specific Procreate workflows as everyone's setup is a little different. I'm sure you'll find something that works for you. https://procreate.art/discussions
  17. Make sure the app is set to back up to iCloud and it will reinstall your work if you need to do a fresh install. It also saves out to the files app, so you can send files to any cloud storage or Airdrop to your Mac. You can export a native layered Procreate file, PSD, JPG, PNG etc. Affinity apps work the same way.
  18. Procreate is the best sketch app IMO. It's the fastest raster based drawing app I've used on the iPad Pro and the interface really gets out of the way and lets you draw. You can do full on finished artwork with it as well. I use Procreate and Affinity Designer every day. Both Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo have very good pencil tools also, but I personally prefer doing my actual drawing in Procreate because it's just got a more fluid engine that feels better to me when making a mark. I suggest hitting an Apple store and maying giving them a try . My local one has Procreate and Affinity on their demo iPads.
  19. I don't know about printing directly from Affinity, but I send an EPS file made from Affinity Designer to Flexi which can turn the vector outline into a cutline for our plotter.
  20. Dev request: When adding support for the double-tap feature on the Gen 2 Apple Pencil, can you also make an option to disable double-tap? Like many others after years of disabling and removing buttons from my Cintiq pens, I would hate to have the pencil experience ruined by accidental double-taps while working.
  21. I'm not on the most current iOS version and I know hardware can make all the difference. I figured there could be UI issues as well.
  22. Awesome - I was hoping to hear that it was running well. (I'm going to make a suggestion in the proper forum to make an option to disable the double tap option.) How soon can we expect an update? - I know I'm asking a lot there.
  23. No problem. I honestly don't use AP much. I have it on both the desktop and iPad, but don't batch RAW files through it. I'll have to give it a shot for batch processing. I just don't think it's economical yet to use AP on iPad to batch RAW files.
  24. I've really fought photo editing on the iPad. I have AP and all the Adobe apps, but I just do better in Lightroom on my desktop before I need the Photoshop/AP step. I don't like the RAW engine Apple has on the iPad. Try as I have I just can't get the same image quality from a RAW file on the iPad as I can from Desktop LR. But for my Illustration and now design, I've really enjoyed using the iPad as my primary content creation device for a while now. It's long replaced a Wacom Cintiq and Photoshop. As far as can it replace a standard computer - I think this has a lot to do with how much RAM they start jamming in the iPad pro. The Gen 3 looks like a monster, but we'll have to see how it handles with the limited RAM they still have injected into it (6GB on 1TB models and 4GB on all others). It's an improvement over what we currently have, but it's nothing compared to what's in a desktop/laptop or how it's handled by the OS. I know iOS's ARM chips handle RAM differently, but I'm not that well versed in the tech to know what that magic number is. But back to photo editing. One thing that's holding me back is the way the file system is implemented within the Files App. It's a step in the right direction for sure, and it's what has allowed the beginnings of an actual professional creative workflow for me, but it needs to mature a little more. You can operate without dumping hundreds of images in your camera roll as in the case of AD and AP you can store the images on the iPad or in the app storage while you work on them. You'll have to rely on a computer, server, iCloud, Dropbox, etc. to store your multi image jobs once you're done working on them. And that doesn't exactly allow quick access if a client needs something "real quick". I suppose it's up to you if you can live within the existing limitations. But as far as processing power goes, it's definitely there.
