So PP has a 25 year history  (I have used it from PP3 to X9). I would have though the ability to open and process PP files in Publisher would have been front and centre at early design stages. I mostly use PP for labels, tickets, greetings cards and small folded publications. Surely basic templates like these should be part of any publishing software.

If this is the sum total of what you need and you are on a Mac you might want to check out PrintWorks: https://www.belightsoft.com/printworks/
It's a bit wimpy compared to more serious tools like what Serif is working toward, but it does handle merge/labels along with other relatively basic publishing tasks, and it's cheap.

What i can never understand is why companies do this, don't offer import from prior product format.
They've spent all those years building a customer base and then abandon them, then expecting them to be loyal, they lose customers... people then look elsewhere.

I would like templates as in PP but would settle for a "New Document" that covered Small, Large and Folded Publications with a facility to specify a custom layout - again, as in PP which I've been using since its inception.  I print a lot of labels and some banners and have not found a way to do this comfortably in Publisher.  Is there any chance of this being included in the final version?

Please, please, pretty please! The structure, from what I've seen, is very like Pageplus and I've got years of stuff in that. Recreating a lot of text and document formats all over again would be a major pain. In practice, I wouldn't purchase until I had to unless this was on offer.

My sentiments exactly!   I no longer have a Windows computer so can’t use my PagePlus, and if Publisher can’t provide this quite basic facility I will have to find something that does

So simple in PagePlus-not so in Affinity Publisher. It is not just a matter of duplicating a design horizontally and vertically on the page, there is the matter of the gap between labels too. Having used Page Plus from version 3 I am disappointed that this feature is not already designed in to Affinity!

I know Publisher is still in beta and about the long history of PagePlus. I think I had most versions going way back to version 1 or 2. I don't expect every feature of PagePlus to be in the first release of Publisher at all but that is the reason I downloaded it today. From my perspective my top two use cases for a publishing tool are as follows:
Label printing with the ability to select how many and where to start on a page of labels.  Mail merge from a simple customisable database (again for printing labels mostly) I'll probably buy Publisher once it includes these features and that will give me the chance to finally drop my Windows systems in the waste basket.

I understand the Clip to Canvas command, however, that is not what is needed.
The canvas should remain stationery, just like a tabletop, so items placed on it can be dragged onto whatever page is open.
It is no use if it scolls out of sight when going to another page. Then you may as well cut and paste.
Perhaps an option could be added to allow for a stationery canvas/backgound???

Just wanted to add that Page Plus works the way I am recommending for Apub.
That is, any element placed on the canvas stays in view as other pages of the publication are opened.
It is a feature hard to do without when you are planning/editing content on many pages.
Cut and past would be a real pain. So please, let us have the same functionality in Apub.

Hello, I am just getting started with Affinity Designer and there is one thing that I wish I could tweak. Hoping there is a solution.

When I am working on a document on my Mac using my Magic Mouse... I end up with my doc flying off the screen.. ha ha.. well it moves around a lot. I guess the Apple mouse isn't the best to be using but it's what I have.

Is there a way to lock the document to the center of the screen?

    Thanks for your help.
