  1. Thank you Libre Office and Pixel Engineer as stated in my post i acknowledge your skill and expertise in these subjects and your explanations really give an insight into how these things happen (oh. for the halcyon days of hot and cold metal of my youth). I am taking it Libre when you say import at the bottom of your post you refer to place? My normal way of working is to remove any bullets in the word doc before pasting, using a shortcut to paste without format, then add bullets as needed using the bullet function. As Poirot would say "it keeps my little grey cells working"
  2. Whilst I acknowledge Libre Trainings expertise in type, fonts, Unicode's, hidden control characters, etc there must be more that can be done. Opening PDF's is one of the biggest headaches I have with Publisher. If I convert NNN's original PDF to word using an online tool (Ilovepdf) it does so without problems. I know that the original probably came from a word doc exported as a PDF, but if I copy and paste the text into publisher it gives the right characters. There are many of us who do work free of charge for small groups and charities who welcome Publisher as a stable tool at an affordable price, but most of the text for our work comes in word document format, dealing with bullets and numbering copied over is a nightmare. If you open a pdf it recognises the Bullets, but gets characters wrong, if you copy and paste it recognises the characters but not the bullets. You also need to be aware of paste or pastes special. Whilst I accept using the place to get things right, which I often do with commercially prepared leaflets being inserted into a publication, it means any alterations are a start over in the original pdf/doc. Not being a user of other commercial software, I cannot compare how they perform these tasks
  3. You start with 16 pages 4.25 x 8.5 then depending on how you will publish it i.e. online, desktop printer or commercial printing (which needs CMYK colour mode) these are usually uploaded ass single sheets. If using online magazine you can use the same process and the software will create it this is one I do each month for the charity I am involved with https://heyzine.com/flip-book/c52dc9735c.html If you are printing you can use the booklet setting in the print function
  4. I also have my frequent save folders pinned to the quick access in File Explorer, Right click pin to quick access
  5. Normally i would say that's feasible using plain paper, which I have done myself for raffle tickets, but as these are going to be pre-die cut labels 20 per page with no spacing between the labels the register would be so critical given the margins on each label. I have done these for stickers for children having flu vaccination and it is so easy for the image to drift on inkjet or office photocopier
  6. I would think there are many reasons why the images end up where they are like what tool or page / canvas was selected when you pasted. I am confused as why you would use individual pages if you intend printing these labels out as you will only get one label per page? If you use the Avery pdf template and design your labels on the template then unclick the template layer before you export print you will have 20 labels to a page. A lot of your text boxes are overflowing so you need to expand them or lower the point size. You also have a lot of blank text boxes and art text words split in different frames. 7. I have started using Eagle following a recommendation from someone in the forum. It is reasonably priced and displays all affinity file types as well as jpg, png, cr2 heic etc. It also syncs across One Drive so I can access the files on my laptop & PC. The only problem is that it creates it's own copy of the file in folder / directory but as storage is not a problem for me I have no worries. You can apply tags for searching and set auto tag for drag & drop. I currently have around 10k of files stored and it is quite responsive. The files can be opened directly in the default app. https://eagle.cool/
  8. The hyperlink is controlled by the insert Hyperlink and can be applied to any object including text single words If you do not want it to show as a hyperlink you can select no style, but it will still be a hyperlink, if you do not want it to be a hyperlink you need to remove the url address You can also disable hyperlinks in your pdf export settings under more Hope this helps
  9. Not that it is any consolation to you I can confirm that moving the image that if flowing off 1st page bottom RH Two Tree Trunks causes Pub 1.10.4 to crash, which I think is linked to the complexity of the layer structure where some images are fixed, some are floating with text, the text box is spanning two pages whilst still overflowing (red dot on text frame) with another text box in that layer for the first page number. If you do your text first then place the images where you want then in the text, but main thing is not to paste with the text box highlighted as that will fix them at an immovable position Package 2.zip
  10. I think the problem Mischugo is experiencing is one I get a lot as I do many publisher articles and web pages where you need to cut out the background. Often the images supplied are with backgrounds that have a mixture of colours some with very little variation in colour to the subject image. If we had nice plain contrasting background on images as per the tutorial vid it would be great, but take the image referred to in the previous post, the hair is almost the same colour of the background. Suggestions on how to do work with these type of images would be great. I know that manipulation colour channels has been mentioned in previous articles about images of text on discoloured paper. Is this something that would help?
  11. Thanks for the replies Notmyfault as I am on desktop it was a bit hard to follow your way. MEB thanks for that, I have not used adjustment layers before for recolouring. Found I was able to get a reasonable result using an HSL adjustment mask and I brightness contrast mask. Will play about with this way a bit more later to see if I can refine. What sort of mask blend mode would I use to make the hands more flesh coloured?
  12. Hi I have to admit that I do not use photo very much as Publisher is the main reason I bout the full application package. I have used one of the online B&W to colour apps and in general I am pleased with the results. I have a group of wedding photos were the bridesmaids and maid of honour were wearing patterns that where all the rage in 60/70s In general it has picked the purple/lilac colour up quite well, but there are patches where it is quite red in colour. Does anyone have any suggestions for making it more purple/lilac in those areas. TIA
  13. I am on windows and have many hyperlinks that run span more than one line as you can see from page 5 of this booklet which was created as a pdf https://heyzine.com/flip-book/0ccdec0ad0.html?web=1&wdLOR=c959D9293-63EA-4D27-B78B-5D14D5D510B2#page/4 I also sent the pdfs to commercial printers without any problems in printing the booklet. I tried exporting your APub file and got the errors associated with hyperlinks and it would not export. When I exported without hyperlinks it exported so definitely something wrong in the hyperlinks. This has been a problem in some versions of 1.9 on windows and may be something in your mac version. I ran pdf logging and it picked up one error as I could find on the last page, but do not know if that works on Macs
  14. Hyperlinks and pdf logging confused me when reading the explanations about causes of failure as in Lagartos explanation, I was interpreting this to mean my design copy in publisher, thinking about it logically it refers to the hyperlink inserted in the Interactive>hyperlink popup. It is quite easy when copying the hyperlink, to paste, to pick up the preceding or following space like anyone@hotmail.com which then renders the hyperlink invalid, this does not easily jump out at you when looking at the pop up box, especially with following spaces. This may not be your problem but may help others who like me read it wrong
  15. I have just had some newsletters printed using A5 with 3mm bleed all around A5 is 148x210 Portrait which with 3mm bleed around is 154x216. Do not select crop marks as that will cause confusion. Most printers use SRA2 paper and stack jobs of similar qty on one sheet, so they do not want crop marks taking up the extra room. The proofing software will only shrink the submitted proof to fit that matrix, if you put crop marks in they will shrink the page, so it fits inc. crop marks. If you look at my screen shot you will see I have included a 3mm bleed all round but did not bleed in the inner margin of the page, but still used it for the proofing software. The inner dotted line is the safety margin not to exceed unless using bleed to give them tolerence
  16. I can see now why Brexit took so long and never reached a solution that suited everyone - Vive la difference Personally, I use templates more than either presets or set sizes, just listed under the different charities and health groups I do gratis work for, helps me put details of what they are used for as well as being prepopulated with standard info like, master pages, logos, contact detail etc.
  17. In windows and 1.10 beta the delete is in the top panel under delete catagory, not sure if that is the one you are pressing?
  18. If you look at the clip from the actual document there is no mailto: that is being generated by the report, there was also a second instance where the line began with a M in the email address and there was nothing before it, it was the start of the line and genrated the same error
  19. Hi Lagarto This is the bit in the report that refers to the error This is the text in Publisher and you will notice the Go to Hyperlink Target is greyed out but in 1.9 it opens an addressed email form
  20. This is alredy been reported and confirmed not fixed in 1.10 1.9 ignored the errors
  21. For info the reason for failure in my newsletter was that the email address started with a capital letter, obviously auto correct capitalising the first letter in a new sentence by what ever text compiler the contributor was using e.g. Word
  22. I will wait the for the patched version to be released as it is to messy without as most of my work involves links supplied by other sources
  23. Can you please advise if the problem with Hyperelinks being identified as non compliant with RFC 3986 stopping the export wihtout warning other than failed as discused in this thread, otherwise I do not wnat ot upgrade to this release as I will have to debug every newsletter using the pdf monitoring tool as infor comes from many sources and i just copy and paste or place their PDF
  24. Welcome to the forum Does this specifically refer to the beta version and was something you could do in the retail, if not you are better posting in the support and questions section windows section. If you have the AFphoto you can do it there in unconstrained mode in crop. soem may be able to help you better if you repost in the other forum section as i am not to familliar with Afdesign
