thnx Garry, should have said linking the text flow on the frames, so you could continually type, did not work, rather than grouping the frames.

Playing around with this one of the problems I came across was the spacing of individual letters and getting them to line up in columns. I went down the power duplicate route with text frames, when I tried linking them spaces an d centering became a problem. If you leave them unlinked and add your letters individually in to each frame it works with power duplicate Stepped Letters.afpub

No it does not lock up when the files are missing, it did not lock up when I used a jpeg version of the designs rather than the eps, which I did to get the design finished. In both cases the files where linked, but the one with the pegs exported and did not lock It would appear to be the eps design in page one, which is quite complex that causes the problem. I have uploaded the eps file to the previous link above

After closing down the program is still running under task manager so I would not be able to right click and open as Publisher is still running, albeit nothing visible. The computer is an Gigabyte Sabre with i7 - 8750H with 16gb ram and Nvidia GTX 1050 GPU., but it happens on my PC also

Hope this loads recording screens is something I am not to familiar with. You will see from the file after I have exported to a pdf the scroll bars do not move but the pages do. Already posted in beta forums windows publisher yesterday, just thought it may be relevant with the file type and the complex image on the video

I have just experienced speed issues with the beta version of publisher using EPS files and found the similar issue with partial areas of the screen staggering when refreshing. It also caused Publisher Beta to freeze the controls using export to pdf. I changed the image to jpeg and everything performs as normal

I have a document with two A4 pages each having an eps file. When I export the current page to pdf for print Publisher controls lock up, but the scroll bars still move the image yet the bar themselves do not move. You can select a menu item but nothing happens e.g. no menu drop down.. After closing the file you cannot right click and chose open with. You have to open apub beta the select the file to open. I you send me a dropbox link I will upload the file Windows 10 on PC and Laptop both have same behaviour

Thanks h_d for you mov file and I used an filled ellipse tool and got your result, but still needed to do the cropping, although I suppose I could have exported to selection. Markw your method is exactly what I was looking for and works with cut as a new image and delete to create a frame without having to guess sizes in the transform panel, many thanks Both ways have given me further insight in using photo.

I am far from an experienced user, just someone who moved up from Page Plus X9 which was bought for a charity where I am Chair of Trustees. I am in my early 70's and although I served my time as a jobbing printer I had not done that line of work for over 40 years. PPX9 had built in options for photo editing and other work, which were very useful. The low cost of the products enticed me to buy all three programs and although my main use is publisher the studio link enables me to switch back and forth to get the results I desire. Any work I do is free of charge to community groups and charities. Browsing the forums has given me a good insight in to techniques that not only improve my work flow, but have benefited others

I think it is very frustrating for us all, but if it is split you are likely to miss something that someone has posted in a forum that is also applicable to another product. You would also have the problem of getting everyone to post in the correct forum, is it windows, mac os or ipad or affects all? Just clicking on the search box gives quite a number of refine options and flexibility on how you search specific phrases.

Thanks for the replies I did not get far with h_d's method. Haakoo if I right click in the layers panel and select rasterise to mask, then crop to size then merge viable gives me something I can export as a png, which seems longer than my original method. I also have the situation where I want to delete the selection. e.g I have an oval picture frame where I want to remove the picture then use the frame as a png layer to frame part of an image, is there a subtract option that is simple?

One of the things in Photo I have not been able to get my head round is the elliptical selection tool when wanting an ellipse rather than a circle. I find it very difficult to find a good starting point that will get me my precise selection, as you do not seem to be able to increase the boundary by dragging in anyway once you have moved the ellipse. My current method is to select the midpoint of the image I require (usually longest dimension) and then drag down or sideways depending on the where the midpoint is selected, with just a narrow ellipse. I then go in to the transform panel and select midpoint and increase the smaller dimension until I get the selection just as I want it. I have tried suggestion in previous posts about using rh mouse button or holding control, but I do not seem to be able to increase the ellipse in anyway with the mouse. Any thoughts on this greatly appreciated

Hi Gabe As I back up my asset files so that I can use them across all applications and my PC and Laptop I have already re-installed them, so the asset.propcol is full once again. Will keep in mind if a get a recurrence or can reproduce it I will upload the file

Hi I created a new asset category and went to rename it form the name Asset in the drop down window, renamed it and the system froze. After closing down Publisher and restarting all my Assets have disappeared. Will these be saved anywhere on my system to restore? I have attached the crash report from appdata /roaming/Affnity/Publisher/1.0/Crash Reports if that helps find out what I did wrong. If not the right files let me know. All the other files are earlier in the year in htat folder metadata options.json settings.dat

Designer had the built in assets for iOS12 I exported to put them in Publisher file attached IOS 12.afassets

If below is what you are trying to achieve select the text layer and the box layer and use the subtract option

Check that you have not got your paragraph and character leading override set to 0

Hi Michael To my mind what you are trying to do is the work of the program without using the tools of the software, like justifying by using spaces or some other non showing Character. Also you are trying to use multi column frames rather than making separate panels for items, also linking the multi column frames. Some of you images & text frames have multiple copies on top of each other and the paragraph styles are confused, maybe from cutting and pasting. I could see your type going vertical rather than going horizontal as, but it was covered by another frame and not easily spotted. I know you must feel frustrated if you are just coming to use a program like Publisher, but there is not short cuts other that watching the tutorials. Hi Gyan I am returning to graphics after a gap of over forty years, apart from the odd foray in to MS Publisher and Word. I have found that templates are OK but they never quite hit the mark for what people want. Most of my work is done free for local charities and is my retirement hobby. I have found that https://www.freepik.com/ can give you a good guide to designs and most can be downloaded for free, if you are not using them other than to find out how it is done Affinity opens most of the formats available.. If you do want to use them you need to attribute the author or Freepik somewhere on the design. Also Publisher opens PDF designs and gives a basis for learning how the designer has created it. One of the key lessons for me was not to worry about shapes that went outside the document area e.g. if you wanted a curve use a circle or oval and let most of it hang over the edge so you get your curve on the document. I also keep my eye on Behance https://www.behance.net/ and Dribble https://dribbble.com/ which give you any idea of what is trending. The Forum is building up quite a comprehensive Tutorial Library and even if what they are doing is not quite what you are looking for the techniques can be applied to your own design. You are not doing anything wrong it is designed that way, I have asked previously

Go to the context tool bar with the text frame still active and in the drop down tool box where this says Body+ you can go to the top of the list and select to add a new style, from the options menu chose paragraph and set it to 0pt before and 0pt after then save this as a new style which you can select when you do not want a space when you hit return. Hope this works same for Mac OS as windows

Whilst it is great to have examples as ideas you can see from the Trick or Treat Flyer that Biz_Kid1 uploaded, that to use them you would need the resources and the fonts embedded to make them work, otherwise you are better looking at the idea or layout and building on it yourself. I am certainly finding to my detriment and posted recently that you soon start eating up drive space with brushes, assets, styles, macros etc. Put template in the mix as well, saved in my case on my 256GB SSD and it soon gets out of hand. I have blank "templates" set up with guides / bleeds/ margins for different layouts without content and just the master pages to keep size to a minimum. There is a wealth of ideas on the web, most of which you can download or open in Publisher or Designer as pdfs if needed, but by the time you have changed all the content you may as well start from scratch.

I had this recently and found it was because I had an object selected and was in some sort of edit mode and instead of scrolling through the pages the screen went in to zoom mode without control being pressed.
