HDoowop got a reaction from Paul Mudditt in [SOLVED] Keyboard shortcuts added to photo but not implemented in designer yet
You know what, I just tried it and the modifier keys (shift, command, etc) work!!!! CRAZY!!! This just made things a lot more faster to work with!!!
Not sure how many more of the shortcuts are left to bring over, but this is definitely a really big step in the right direction!!
thanks for listening to the feedback!!

    @Madame @gdenby @Wosven
Thank you to all of you guys for taking the time to reply. I was able to follow your steps and achieve what I wanted.
@gdenby I definitely get what your saying about not following Illustratior tutorials because of the different features and naming conventions. I guess I’m just trying to take the approach of challenging myself to get to know Designer so well that I  am able to look at pretty much whatever  and reproduce it. You guys made it look really easy lol.  I definitely need to mess around with the break, join, and close curve options some more to understand them better.
    Thanks again.

HDoowop got a reaction from wtrmlnjuc in Desktop Keyboard Shortcuts Please
I have a Bluetooth keyboard that I use with my IPad and it would be really cool if I could use the regular keyboard shortcuts from desktop on my iPad. Especially considering that there are still a lot of issues with the selection accuracy. Some shortcuts do work, but not all of them. Any chances of making this happen? I think this would really make sense especially if ios13 ends up bringing the iPad closer to a desktop. At that point, creating an option to make designer on iPad look like the desktop app would be cool too.

    Thanks

HDoowop got a reaction from Aammppaa in How to Create a vector brush that makes all strokes look like they were drawn with a pencil
Ah shoot, my bad, I didn't know these existed.

One thing though, the brushes are really good but the pencil brushes are raster only. I was hoping to find vector brushes instead. I do have the Charcol brush from the Daub vector Vol 2 set but I was hoping for something that looked a little different. I'll try GabrielleM's suggestion though and see what kind of results I get.

Thanks for pointing these out to me though.

    Hi, HDoowop,

From what I've seen from people asking similar questions, it appears that the way AI structures fillable areas from merged lines has no 1 to 1 match in AD. That is, each area that he colors would have to remain a separate object. Typically, One would have a Face group. Inside that, there would be individual layers for head-phones, lips, etc. The lines of the face would be objects nested inside the face outline. AFAIK, the whole thing would not be drawn at once.

Setting a pen stroke style would be done by changing the pressure curve profile in the stroke dialog.  I have a style category for strokes w. different kinds of tapers and weights

I couldn't quite tell if Chi overlapped all the strokes, but it seemed he did, and then merged them. So in the end, there were closed shapes. But from what little I know of AI, it allows a line to define areas on both sides, say a diagonal running from one corner of a rectangle to another. AD requires 2 vectors in the same place, on for each formed triangle. So, yes, more work, or at least one needs to approach the drawing process in a different way.

    Hello HDoowop,
Yes you can if you have Adobe Illustrator on your computer.

Just open the file in Illustrator.
Then select all by pressing Command + A (Control A windows).
    Switch to Affinity Designer.
Then do  File -> New From Clipboard.
    And there you have it.
    Regards

Please see the attached AD file. I started with two blue links and two red links (which I grouped, but only for neatness) and then I duplicated the blue links, selected both and Alt-clicked the 'Add' icon in the Geometry section of the main toolbar to create a compound object/layer. I put a green circle at each of the three places where I wanted the blue link to remain on top, and again performed a compound 'Add'. If you go to the Layers panel, drag the green circles thumbnail and drop it onto the blue links thumbnail (so that when you hover before releasing the mouse button you get a short vertical pale blue rectangle instead of a long horizontal one) the two blue links will be cropped so that they are only visible where the green circles were.

You can reduce the workload a little by adding the cropping shapes (via 'Layer > Geometry > Add') so that you only have one layer that you need to move.
