Simple double the top shape before Boolean add. I hope the toolset with the iOS version is identical as I made a starter file with the desktop version I have - saved with history enabled so you can follow my quick steps:
Hope this helps.
Cheers
PS: selecting a locked pixellayer during Boolean operation will delete it - which in most case isn´t wanted - so I guess it´s a bug - I will use it as a feature in the future though.

thanks for the uploading the file.

Reset the pressure profile. You can apply a pressure profile or make the line dashed, but not both at the same time.
that helped fixed the issue, thanks.
Ok, so I was able to apply the 3 different stroke settings like I was looking for. I was also able to fill in the shape by duplicating the triangle before applying the stroke settings. Is there a way to now get the coloured triangle to follow the dashed stroke? So where ever there is no dash I'd like the colour to stop as well so it doesn't show through the gaps. Would I have to redraw that side of the triangle with the pen tool to follow the dashes?
thanks

No no no - this isn´t necessary by all means. We use vector graphics to just avoid this to happen. Duplicate the shape - modifier - alter - break - add - subtract whatever you want. I don´t see any reason to draw the same shape 2 times. I´m under the impression you´re over-complicating things.
Cheers
I only did it that way because that was the only way I could think of doing it, I only drew the part of the shape to fill in the gap. But yeah my bad, I guess I'm not understanding what you are suggesting. The example you posted earlier can get me there part of the way but then it takes away the stroke from the top part of the object.

Yeah, I'm working on the ipad version. I figured my question was general enough to post in this section; plus, this section seems to have a lot more activity lol.

Duplicate the triangle before breaking it up. Then you can simply format the original, unbroken triangle to have a fill but no stroke.
Ok, so I lied lol. I followed firstdefences's steps and I was able to apply different stroke properties for each line segment however for some reason I can't get the line segments to turn into dashed lines, not sure what I'm doing wrong; I have tried it twice now.
I can try duplicating the triangle and putting it underneath however with the dashed lines, Im guessing the colour underneath is not going to follow the dashes. So when theres a gap with the line segment the colour underneath is not going to gap as well. Is there a way to get both to line up?
thanks

Boolean add with a locked pixel layer? I'm not too sure what that means... is there a thread I can pull up which explains it?
Also, I'attached a picture of what I was trying to accomplish. I had to draw another shape on top of the gap to cover it which works however its not the cleanest result because I can't follow the same paths exactly as the original.

I was able to reproduce your steps, thanks. However, I would still like to be able to fill the triangle in with a colour after making the changes to the line segments. Is that possible?

@HDoowopI guess you need to break two shapes into open curve, then join them with other curves.
I'll try that out, thanks. I'm hoping theres a simpler/better way to do it though.

If I use the shape tool to make a triangle for instance. How would I then make on line segment of the triangle black dashed lines with a stroke weight of 2, the second line segment blue solid line with a stroke weight of 2, and the third line segment a solid yellow line with a stroke weight of 10.
thanks
-
My question is ver similar to this other wise I would have created a new thread.
I'm working with 4 objects/curves(?) the two main objects ( in grey) and then the two lines to complete the shape. How would I turn the entire shape into one object so I can then start to fill the shape in with colour. I have tried selecting all 4 objects and choosing join and then close but it ends up creating an extra line between the 2 curved lines which ends up looking weird.

In AD, is there a way to keep the planes and isometric menus on screen when working with Isometric grids. At the moment, I'll have to reopen the menu each time I want to work in a different plane. Alternatively, is there a keyboard shortcut that will allow me to jump from one plane to the other?
thanks.

Nice!!
Will we also be able to use modifier keys? For instance, on desktop you can hold shift or alt before drawing a shape to activate certain constraints, is going to be available with this update?
Additionally, when can we expect to see all of the desktop keyboard shortcuts/modifiers ported to the iPad. It’s something that woudl definitely improve the overall experience especially now that we have the ability to use a mouse in IpadOS.
thanks.
You know what, I just tried it and the modifier keys (shift, command, etc) work!!!! CRAZY!!! This just made things a lot more faster to work with!!!
Not sure how many more of the shortcuts are left to bring over, but this is definitely a really big step in the right direction!!
thanks for listening to the feedback!!

Hi Tsinghuazhu,
Welcome to the forums
This just means that desktop shortcuts they required modifiers should now work on iPad with the keyboard connected. You can't edit or add new shortcuts I'm afraid.
Thanks
C
To clarify, does this mean that all of the desktop shortcuts have now been imported to the iPad version ? I took a look at the listed shortcuts list in the app and it seems like it’s pretty similar to what was there before the update.
Thanks

Thank you to all of you guys for taking the time to reply. I was able to follow your steps and achieve what I wanted.
@gdenby I definitely get what your saying about not following Illustratior tutorials because of the different features and naming conventions. I guess I’m just trying to take the approach of challenging myself to get to know Designer so well that I am able to look at pretty much whatever and reproduce it. You guys made it look really easy lol. I definitely need to mess around with the break, join, and close curve options some more to understand them better.
Thanks again.

If you mean you’d like to make the stroke weight thicker or thinner then:
1. Select the object
2. On the right side under the colour picker you’ll see a stroke symbol with a stroke number underneath it; click on that
3. A window should slide open containing a slider for the stroke width. You can either slide it to the right to adjust or tap it and enter a number.
Hope that’s what you were looking for.

Hey Guys,
I’m still new to graphic design, I know this is probably a simple question but I can’t seem to figure out how to replicate this. I was watching the Aaron Draplin video below. Around the 9:30 mark he uses circles to make water waves. I tried to figure it out but I can’t seem to figure out how to replicate what he is doing. The closest I can get is align a bunch of circles with no stroke and combine the circles. Next, I put a rectangle over top and then subtract from the circles. What am I missing? I’m using designer on IPad. Thanks.

Thanks Gabe.

Hey @HDoowop , I'm afraid we do not have an ETA for this feature. Sorry
Hey Gabe,
Are you able to at least confirm that its in the plans?
Thanks

Hi @HenningMigge,
Welcome to the forums.
We do not have a shortcut for a soft return yet. Sorry :(. However, we hope to get more shortcuts implemented in the future.
moved to feature requests
Thanks,
Gabe.
Hey Gabe,
Would you be able to advise if there are plans to bring all of the desktop keyboard shortcuts to the iPad anytime soon? Will version 1.7 have this? As it stands right now, selecting nodes and objects is very finicky and at times pretty frustrating. Allowing keyboard shortcuts would really speed up the process and make the entire experience of using the app a lot more enjoyable. Even if the accuracy is improved, its just nice to have the option of using the keyboard shortcuts.
Thanks.

It does work with rotated objects (make sure the Move Tool is active/selected). Power Duplicate only works from the Edit menu (ellipsis icon).
It would be really helpful if we can use desktop keyboard shortcuts using a Bluetooth keyboard. Do you know if there are any plans for this in a future update ?

I agree, it needs to be improved upon. The only way to deal with it so far is to remember to zoom in before trying to move the node.

Welcome to the forum.
Nicely done. Bright and colourful with some nice detail (I wonder what's peering out of that crate).
I'm not an expert on isometric drawing but I have a few initial comments:
* The left-hand side and top of the window are confusing. If the window is inset into the wall then we shouldn't be able to see the left and top of the window (they should be 'inside' the wall).
* I would say that you need to think about your shadows a bit more. For example, the table and crate look like they're floating. Also, the pencils shadow - on the table - looks the wrong way round. The shadows of the boards on the far wall look strange too.
* The 'smile' on the board resting against the wall seems to be at the wrong angle.
* The 'paints case' seems to be missing a leg (or two). These are all minor issues though and they don't mean that your drawing is "wrong", it's just that these things caught my eye early on.
It will be interesting to see how the next version looks if you make one.I am really new to this as well but I agree with what Garry P said. It’s a good attempt
Also, thanks for the tutorial link Simon Degay.

Really nice work.

I have a Bluetooth keyboard that I use with my IPad and it would be really cool if I could use the regular keyboard shortcuts from desktop on my iPad. Especially considering that there are still a lot of issues with the selection accuracy. Some shortcuts do work, but not all of them. Any chances of making this happen? I think this would really make sense especially if ios13 ends up bringing the iPad closer to a desktop. At that point, creating an option to make designer on iPad look like the desktop app would be cool too.
Thanks
