Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, there will not be another version! Windows 10 was created in such a way as to be infinitely upgradeable, so Microsoft intend this version to be the last, and it will be upgraded indefinitely in a similar way to the MAc OS. ..... So don't hold your breath for Windows version 11 or 12 etc.

I don't know of a single program, photo/design/office/music or any other that when released and even years after release had no problems with some of it's features still having bugs. Affinity is no different, except that Serif are actively (if sometimes slowly) correcting the problems. I have every sympathy with those of us who still have problems with the software, but they really need a reality check, just go to the main Adobe forum/s or Magix music forum, even Microsoft Office forum and you will find plenty of people who are unhappy about this or that feature not working properly. All of these developers release patches occasionally for their non BETA software, but sometimes you wait years before a bug is removed. Patience is needed by ALL of us!

The physical workbook for designer is a great read and a useful resource, but it is not really practical for use when using Designer because of it's bulky nature. A much more practical solution would be a protected PDF file or an online workbook that can be accessed via a password and e-mail exclusive to people who have bought the book. This idea would mean registered owners could log in (on site) or enter a password to access the PDF? Surely a way can be found to enable one of these features or another similar one? This would be a positive selling point for any new user and a must have for dual monitor users! You have already stated elsewhere on the Forum that the Designer Workbook was produced in PagePlus, so you must already have a PDF version available, so what is the problem?

I did a similar thing, I bought a Huion tablet (made in China), it has a 9.5x5.5 inch screen, and it works like a dream with all my graphics/photo software, and at around £50 is a real bargain!

I know that DropBox can cause sync problems with files imported from there to AP and AD, so this could be a sync problem? Try importing the files from your desktop (download them to a folder) this should work!

Terry44: For me AD starts 8 seconds before I click on the program icon, for me that is a very slow program, so I asked the doctor about it and he said, " it's a timey Wimey thing!", so I stopped worrying about it 2 weeks before the problem arose! For those of you with really long start up times, check your virus scanner to see if it is scanning the program before it loads, if it is exclude it from the scanning process!

Ordinary 1 terr hard drive, AMD Athlon 6 core 3500 mhz, 32 gig ram. 20 sec cold start. 10 sec warm start. I don't worry about trivialities that involve seconds, the program starts up fast enough for me, all I care about is usability, and AD has nailed that!

Problem solved! Now have AD on my iMac, and also paid for and installed AP, and very happy with both! Thanks for your help Andrew.

Thanks Andrew - It has been a year or so, and I just bought the Windows version, so I got confused because the Windows version does have a serial number? Now all I need to do is remember my Mac App Store details? - Yes! I am a pratt! :wacko:

Here is the story: Bought AD some time ago (soon after launch), but found out that my old iMac could not run it properly because of Lion OS not being able to work with open GL. So I shelved the program (on a disk) with a copy of the serial number. Recently bought a new (second hand) iMac running El Capitan and immediately looked for my registered copy of AD to install? You've guessed it! Can't find it any where? So I was hoping that a Serif MOD could tell me how to get a replacement?

I'm sure you already know that DP9 is not going to happen! But when everything related to AD (Bugs) are fixed, and a release version is finalized,we have been told that the UI colour will be looked at! I personally love the present UI.

Doesn't happen on my setup, no matter what combination of control+shift+2 I use keyboard or keypad? I use all British English language and keyboard!

I use a HUION tablet, there are no perceived problems with pressure or anything else with it.

No problems here, starts every time from a saved file? Has to be a fault in the file itself?

I agree with Bhikkhu Pesala, at the moment we have to rely on third party (users) to provide extra brushes, there are far to few native ones?

nekto, it is not unusual for a program to require Net framework and C++ to be installed to run. And while everyone is sorry that you are having these problems,NO ONE ELSE is! This strongly suggests that your trouble is Windows related and not Affinity. Everyone else who runs Affinity Designer also has the extra downloads and Aero enabled, but no one has damaged jpeg files?

AD is loosing focus when starting with "Preferences/General/Reopen Document on Startup". Several times AD has opened with the correct document and no problems even with the Samples startup screen ticked (the one with all the choice of examples on it). On other occasions the samples screen will load not the preferred document. I understand that the sample screen should be unticked if you don't want it to appear, but when you are for example in the process of creating a doc, then tick the box "Reopen Document on Startup" before saving, the required doc should override the Samples screen every time you load AD by unticking it if it is active?

Just to add my voice here, I also would really like a trace feature, but it needs to be done right! I have tried similar trace features on other design programs in the past and they are often pretty poor at best. But knowing how Serif works, I have no doubt that it will be done right!

1.5.0.5 Using a previously saved (just started) document: Load document. Document displays in the swatches tab a "Recent" selection from the used colour palette, but always starts up with the "Greys" palette, not the one I am using? This means that every time I work on this sample (test) document, I have to set the palette manually to the one I want. The information on which palette a document is using should be saved with the Doc?

This is similar: Start a project pick a colour palette and do a small amount of work, set the program to load the same project on start up, then "Save As". The program loads the saved project but does not load the colour palette you are using, so you have to do this manually! Not good!
