  1. I still can't view/download the keynote. I refreshed the screen, restarted the browser, and even rebooted the computer. Just isn't working...
  2. Hi, Michael. I don't have any controls on the screen. The full Keynote page is there, but the video area is just a dark grey square (as it was when I was 'watching' it live). I've been having trouble with some embedded videos lately. I think sometimes it's a Flash thing.... sometimes, perhaps a script being blocked (although I don't appear to be blocking anything on Affinity)... Not sure what is up with this. I wish they'd just slap it on YouTube.
  3. I too can't seem to download/watch the stream video. I just get the blank grey box on that Keynote page. I don't seem to have any security stuff blocking it. When the stream WAS actually live, earlier today, I could hear it, but not see anything. Now, I can't even hear anything... if it's even playing. Is it going to be available elsewhere to view?
  4. Hi, S. Agreed... While I can understand a brush being able to have an 'open' stance on blending mode, having some 'open' and some 'controlling' really does present a problem... especially in that a lot of people probably wouldn't notice that the settings are not as they expect, and they continue working through the piece, not realizing the 'mistake'.... and maybe even fighting/compensating for that discrepency in expected performance. I can see the arguement for some people finding changing brushes results in their custom settings (blend mode, wet edges, etc) being 'reset' each time they get a different brush... So, it's going to upset people, either way, I guess. But, I'd say the best route would be to have it manditory for brushes to have a 'default state' stored in them (ex. watercolour brushes have wet edges, dry media doesn't..), and then maybe have a option/toggle set for whether the USER wants to use those, or 'lock' their current preferences. Kind of like locking layers. Okay, well thanks for clearing that up. I had actually previously reported a very odd behavior in Designer, where the brush selection aspect of the program (clicking a brush in the brush list) would often HIGHLIGHT the brush (indicating that the click was registered), but sometimes the brush itself would not change. That seemed to go on for a long time without any solution or official response. I have to check if 1.7 has fixed that. Anyway, I thought maybe this Blend Mode/Wet Edges thing was more of the same! Cheers!
  5. I just updated to 1.7 on both Photo and Designer, and in Photo I noticed something that I wanted to verify here... If I have a regular brush (ex. Dry), then select a Daub Watercolour brush, the Wet Edges checkbox gets checked, as it seemingly should. But, if I then select a regular brush again (say, the Dry one I previously had), the Wet Edges checkbox does not uncheck... so, from that point on (after having selected a 'Wet Edges' brush), all brushes after that have the Wet Edges checked. Can someone confirm this is happening to them as well, and if this is a bug? UPDATE: Actually, I also just noticed that the Blend Mode doesn't seem to update with each brush type selection. It will be on Normal by default, and remain so until I select a Daub Gouache brush, which changes it to Average... but then when I select 'regular' brushes again, the Blend Mode doesn't switch back to Normal. 6. I suppose technically I could create some sort of desktop shortcut to wherever you turn Aero on/off, and switch it on whenever I need to use Affinity on that machine.... Kind of a drag, but certainly a valid solution. Actually, if it's a GPU strain, rather than a CPU one, it's not as bit an issue. My GPU is a 1060 3G. It's my CPU that is the issue (old i7)... and it's only a concern, as this is my gaming rig (so I want to free up the CPU as best as possible).
  7. Hi, Dan C. No worries. Certainly a faster/better response than I often get in other forums! Well, that all makes sense. Unfortunate, for sure (the whole Aero thing... which previously seemed stupid, but later I came to understand the actual technical reasoning behind it). So, I guess the video card is the difference here that is determining if the refresh works properly or not? Unless it's a Pro vs Premium thing (Win7). Certainly not a game-breaker (just have to always tap or scroll every time you return to the screen). I'm glad, though, that at least it's a known thing, with an explanation. I guess (besides aesthetic preference) the reason I insist on Aero being disabled on the systems is the (possibly incorrect) assumption that it (to whatever degree) robs some performance from the system. Actually, I recently read that if you switch Aero on, but have all the 'effects' turned off, there is no real drain. Not sure if that's true or not. If true, it certainly would motivate me to switch it back on. (Come to think of it, I need to check my Pro machine, where Affinity IS refreshing properly... as I'm starting to think that maybe I DID do just that... Switch Aero on, but with every effect off... which would explain why it is working there!)
  8. Hello, Dan C... The drivers are up to date, but it's still doing it. Specific to Affinity. The canvas isn't refreshed when something goes on top of the canvas. I can take (say) a window from some other program (or from Affinity), drag it across AP, and it acts like an eraser on the canvas (and ONLY the canvas... the interface refreshs fine, and is not erased by the drag). The mouse pointer does not 'erase', though. The canvas gets refreshed when I zoom or pan. It's only happening on the Win7Premium (GTX 1060 3G) 12gig RAM machine. The other machine is a Win7Pro with a 500 series NVidia card and 32gigs RAM, and it doesn't have the issue. Not sure what other things may be different between the two.
  9. Hi. I have Affinity Photo running on two machines. On one, everything works fine. On the other, I find that the image (canvas) is invisible until I zoom, and then everything is fine. I will often have to zoom just to get the canvas back. Obviously some sort of display/screen update issue. I seem to have to do it every time I put some other software in focus. Tabbing back to AP results in the invisible canvas, every time, and is fixed by just zooming in or out. I also find that sections of the canvas that get covered by various palettes/windows do not get redrawn, so again, a sort of screen refresh issue. On both machines, I DO have Aero disabled, but am using the -NoWarning command workaround. The one machine is Win7Pro (where AP works fine), and the other is running Win7Premium (where I have that disappearing issue). I'm wondering if this is a known issue, and if there is some fix or workaround (other than temporarily zooming to get the image back). Win7Premium 12gigs RAM NVidia 1060 3G Affinity Photo/Designer
  10. I'm really surprised and disappointed to see this doesn't appear to be possible (please let me know if I'm wrong!). If I create a style, apply it to several items, and then realize it's not quite right (too dark, needs something extra, etc), it doesn't appear that I can adjust a style in the style library, and have the changes appear in all existing instances on the canvas. That really limits the power and point of making styles. So far, it seems I'd have to edit an item on the canvas, create a new style, and then manually apply it to all the items one by one again... perhaps only to find it still isn't quite right. Why can't styles be edited? I really don't get it. It feels like having a copy/paste feature, but you can only paste once, and then you have to copy the item again before pasting again...
  11. Hi. I own both Designer and Photo. I have already posted on the Stardock Multiplicity forums (Multiplicity is a IP based KVM software for controlling multiple computers by one computer), and figured I'd also post here, in case it's something that can be adjusted in the Affinity software... or someone just happens to have the same experience and/or maybe some theories/suggestions... I have a PC I do my work on, and then a 'main' PC for email, etc. My 'Work' PC is being controlled via a 'Main' PC (using Multiplicity). Everything is working great, except that the tablet is not fully working in Affinity (or any other software). If I have the tablet connected to the Main computer (so it is controlling the Work PC remotely), the pen works fine in Affinity, but has no pressure control. If I connect the tablet into the Work PC, pressure works, but unfortunately it appears that the mouse signal sent by the Main PC (via Multiplicity) is partially overriding the pen... so I end up with two 'brushes'... The crosshair/circle (controlled by the mouse, and therefore standing stationary when I'm using the pen), and the brush 'preview/shape', which moves with the pen, as the crosshair stays put. So, no workaround so far, other than to connect it to the main PC and not have pressure (...painful). So, I'm wondering if there's any configuration I could do within Designer/Photo (or perhaps Windows7 itself) that might fix this... For example, make Affinity only use tablet input, ignoring the mouse. Just desperately searching for some sort of fix... 12. Hi, R C-R. Thanks for that important point! The meter is actually for an old electroshock therapy control panel. That sample image I attached is from a similar machine, so I pretty much replicated it for mine. The weird thing, is that the OTHER gauge (there's 2 different ones) appears to have been 'modified' from it's original version (they literally wrote new markings and values on it)... but I ended up just replicating the original. It's going to be a very quick (1 second) 'needle jumping' type of animation... extreme closeup kind of deal. This is for a documentary about a famous Canadian bank robber/prisoner, and so I built full 3D CGI sets of the jail cells/block, a bank, solitary confinement, and this odd 'torture' room... along with the full 'suitcase' eletroshock control panel. I finished and applied the meter graphics onto the backplates of the 3D gauges, and it looks great. Thanks again for that point (luckily not an issue in my case), and thanks again to everyone else here who chimed in. Very much appreciated!
  13. All good! I'm already half-way finished... using a combination of the techniques you guys suggested. Going very well. Now, I just have to pray that my 3D model VU needle's rotational arc matches that of the decal... (I'll put a dot on the center point of the graphic, and that should serve as the rotational axis location of the 3D needle. (I'd still love to see a bend tool in Designer... . Being able to distort any (complex) shape with a curve, like you currently can with (only) text, would be awesome.)
  14. Hi, reglico. Cool... The closest thing I could find online (before hitting these forums) was vids where people did a similar manual radial pattern thing (duplicating and rotating. I wasn't sure if the same could be done with an object where the centerpoint was far outside the shape itself. Hrmm... I'm wondering. Could you not create a single instance of one of those 'boxes' (two tick marks), and then use a similar manual rotation array technique to create the bar? As I figured, there's a few ways to tackle this. I'm going to continue tinkering over here. Thanks for all the ideas, guys.
  15. Hi, toltec... (Facepalm)... Oops! I didn't notice that! I was so focused on the gizmo tools, that I didn't notice the stuff at the top. I'll look into the segment tool, too. Thanks.
  16. Hi, Alfred. Thanks for the response. Yup, the cog tool shows promise, but it doesn't allow you to control the number of cogs, unless I'm missing something. That said, there's no reason why I couldn't use several cog objects, each rotated slightly, to create more ticks. This is just to generate a PNG texture map image, so a 'clean and efficient' Affinity Design project file is not really of huge importance. Looks like it will work. Thanks for the great tip! (Affinity Design really needs some sort of Bend tool!)
  17. Hi. I'm currently building some 'text' elements to map onto a 3D model I have built, and one of the things I need to create the text for is a typical VU type meter. The display would essentially be a hollow half circle line (or a unfilled rectangle, bent into a curve), filled with regular tick marks. I've attached a sample image, as it's really hard to explain in words! Not really sure what's the best way to build something like that in Affinity Design. I have to explore it a bit more, but I don't recall anything where I could build this 'straight', then curve it... nor am I really familiar with anything that would allow me to create a series of tick marks (like using some radial array or something like that)... So, I'm kind of at a loss, currently. I'm sure there's at least one easy way to create this, but I'm just not familiar with any tools that seem suitable for this, currently. Anyone out there who can point me to an Affinity Design tool that can be usef for this sort of thing? I'll keep exploring the tools, in the meantime.... LATER ADDITION: About the only thing I can currently think of, is creating a curved line, and setting the stroke to be dotted, and that could then serve as a visual guide to then manually build/place the tick marks. But, I'm sure there's a better/easier method... so, any suggestions, please let me know!
  18. Hi, gdenby. Thanks for the quick response. I just gave that a try, and ya, that works. Weird, though, I was kind of expecting/hoping for a more traditional transform widget type of thing, in the canvas itself. But, ya, that certainly works. Thanks for that. Much appreciated! Cheers
  19. I know this was asked for by others years ago, but I'm really surprised to see that it seems that there still is no way to select certain points, and then scale/rotate them. Instead, it seems you can only do that with whole shapes. I think the response to the request/question years ago was that it IS coming, yet I'm not aware of it being added... unless I missed something here. Any news on that?
  20. Hi, Walt. As much as I'd love to have some excuse for not spotting it, I don't think it was the darkness (...although I did make a suggestion that the tool highlighting in Dark mode really needs to be boosted). Either there was some sort of graphical glitch when I was looking at the Help manual today...or, I just had a really bad 'perception level' day! But, after Dominik's post, I checked again, and it's there, and I have no idea how I could have missed it! Mega-oops.
  21. Wow... colour me 'stupid'. Yep, you're absolutely right. I have no idea why I didn't notice that. Thanks, Dominik.
  22. Hi, Walt. Well, if it does, it doesn't appear to be working on my system. I just found out that I was two updates behind. I manually installed the latest update.
  23. I'd love to see a Check For Update button in the About window... or even a preference setting where it would automatically check if there's an update on startup and/or on viewing the About window.
