Many thanks Guys. First I was saddened to see Thomaso responding to a comment I had erased within 30 seconds after realising I had grumpily misunderstood a previous contributor. This program advised that only moderators might see the deleted text! This is something to watch out for in the future. As to this issue - I now simply open the image I want to get a gradient map from, and ask Affinity to create an application swatch from it. This is then available to me in the gradient map swatches box. It works and that's all I need. Once again, many thanks and case closed

OK can anyone tell me in simple terms why my colour picker is not working in gradient maps? I have Mac and given permission for AP and Publisher to record the content of my screen. I have read every stream of advice and problem solving Walt F has given. I have watched several Youtube tutorials. I have used AP for years. Before being away for several months in hospital, I used gradient maps. But now, for some reason the colour picker will not allow me to choose any colour outside of the main image on screen. I had taken another image and AP made a five colour swatch for me, and in the past I would be able to select those colours in turn to change the gradient map accordingly. But the prog simply will not allow it. The colour picker in the gradient map box will not note the colour in the swatch panel. Just as an experiment I also tried selecting colours with the other two pickers and they would not influence the gradient map in any way. Please do not reply as if I were a programmer! I just want to click and drag buttons!

I have M1 Mac Mini and find that when I process many images from an event I always get this error message too - shooting mostly raw, a few adjustments, then in develop persona auto levels and WB are enough for the majority (because the Nikon Z8 is superb in this respect!). I would have culled so that I am only developing about 50 images in a session. Workflow is to save in .afphoto with the intention of batch processing to large and then small jpegs in srgb but I can never get that far in one go. I turn the programme off and sometimes even the computer! I don't recall Photoshop doing this to me - albeit I have been with AP for several years now. I use a 4tb external to hold most 'done' folders and an 8tb external as time machine. Any advice would be most welcome. I have racked up the slider for ram usage to 80% of space.

I too have problems with my Mac Mini M1 Sonoma 14.3.1 8 gig ram. Affinity Photo2, 2.4.0. Whenever I have a long job such as documenting a special church service, and have a pile of ram shots to review in FastRawViewer, then in AP raw cropping, minor exposure adjustment, detail and noise then often auto levels and white balance do the job nicely following my Nikon Z8' work. But after about 40 files are processed (saved as afphoto and averaging 260mb), Affinity slows very considerably to the point I have to close everything and restart my computer. Excuse my non technical language - I can use AP quite extensively but ain't no computer techie!

I'd be grateful for some guidance along these lines too, please.. but in simpler language! I just downloaded the latest Beta so that I can develop Nikon Z8 raw files. I would like to transfer my library and assets to the beta version from AP2. Is there a quick'n'easy way of transferring the lot to the Beta, please? [Mac M1 running Sonoma 14.3]

I read in another thread that Serif had resolved the issue of Z8 raw files not being recognised in Affinity Photo - by issuing 2.4 beta. I installed this beta but it gave an error message that this file type is not supported. Confusing! Mac OS Sonoma 14.3, M1 chip.

I have OM1 system camera and when I click launch registered application, I now get a strange two tone block of colour - which is annoying since until a month ago it would launch and open the file as a colour image.

Hi, thank you for your interest. I had done this, and did it again after your advice. This just shows up the basic set such as sRGB. It's a short list of 12 files and no mention of the [Canon still showing in AP but deleted from my Library], Epson, fotospeed and Marrutt profiles on my computer.

Hi and again thanks for your efforts. I looked through all the above and found no help. Just to say the line ~/Library/Containers/Affinity Photo/Data/Library/Application Support/profiles/ is wrong for Monterey - is right up to Library but not in A.Support. ColorSync is found in library and shows what is in the mac but not how AP is storing it. Cheers

Thanks v_kyr, kind of you to reply. I know how to delete profiles from Mac, and in my earlier comment explained I had done so. My problem is that AP continues to show the ones I deleted in the print and soft proofing menus. It is these that I cannot delete and wondered if anyone could tell me. All the best

HI, I was just wondering if someone might help me tidy up my program; I changed printer and don't want a pile of canon icc profiles showing up in AP. I use Mac and removed unwanted profiles from Library>profiles etc... But AP has 'remembered' the unwanted profiles and I cannot see a way to delete them. Help would be appreciated - albeit it is not exactly a big problem

Well, I wonder if I am doing something wrong but it is 2022 and I still don't have a progress bar when stacking 40 images. The help page says stacking is designed for tens of images so I am wishing guidelines. I wanted to test a stack of 50 images and thought the program had simply decided not to do it! I did a test of three and that worked ok. I tried again with the 50... and then in the middle of doing something else the two big stacks made an appearance one after the other... that's about five minutes later I guess, not that I was counting the time. Please either tell me if I have not switched it on or give us a progress bar... Thanks

Hi Lee Thanks for responding. Late reply from me due to lack of internet for a while! The structure you ask about was simply that I flattened and even rasterised [overkill?] to start afresh so as to eliminate any possible earlier stuff. But hey, lets forget it now. If the boffins at Affinity are not monitoring such issues, it is not for kind hearted people to fret! Affinity has a number of bugs but I still prefer it to PS so will press on.... All the best

Hi Walt, thanks for replying. Yes I thought about the layer issue and made sure my base evaluation was one layer in both cases. I even flattened and then rasterised to be sure! I attach two files. Basically I set up a macro to copy an effect created in a video discussion. I called it super sharpening. I was astounded to see that it runs on any jpg/jpeg file but when used on an .afphoto file the programme changes a couple of blend modes [ie does not change the actual macro, just how it is used on the file itself]. It seems illogical but it happens. Two examples attached. I saved the jpg version as .bridge bright macro error.afphotoafphoto so as to keep all data visible to you. Sorry for the delay in replying - have been occupied... Sadly there is no crash report. If I use the history slider to show the situation earlier - just as James R does in his videos - sometimes it is OK but after a couple of times the programme just closes. It hasn't bothered me recently as Covid has virtually closed our club down! In fact I am about to start a much more pressing issue as a new topic... Many thanks

Just thought I would raise with you that I frequently suffer crashes when turning layers on and off - particularly when teaching and showing differences by turning layers on and off to show differences etc. I have an iMac and everything is updated.

Computers! I should have unchecked 'preserve alpha'. I found this by accident when doing further tests after posting the above - seeing if all the tool variants worked... sorry for bothering you... but hey, good to chat! issue seems resolved.
